Sen. Schumer: Passing Obamacare in ’09 Was A Mistake, Hurt Democrats
by Shifra on November 26, 2014Yes, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) now “regrets” passing Obamacare in ’09. He does not regret that millions of people lost their health insurance. He does not regret the massive fraud that was perpetrated on the American people. No, he says he regrets the “timing.” Memo to Chucky Schumer: You regret that you may lose your job in ’16. Via CNS News: Schumer Says Obamacare Hurt Dems: ‘85% of All Americans Were Fine With Their Health Care’ Schumer said the health care law, popularly known as Obamacare, is “very important” but the timing was wrong, and was not at the “top of the agenda” of the American people. “We were in the middle of recession. … People were hurting and said...

Ebola Confirmed In New York City
by Tammy on October 23, 2014Police officers outside Dr. Spender’s apartment in New York Considering Obama’s policies, this was predictable. Equally concerning is a doctor who, laudably, worked with Doctors Without Borders in West Africa to help treat Ebola, who returned to the United States and then in about a week of his return (and the day before he reported symptoms) rode the subway, took an Uber ride and went to a bowling alley. You would think he, of all people, would have voluntarily self-quarantined. But no. It doesn’t help there is no universal guideline suggesting travelers self-quarantine. After all, when people arrive in the US from Ebola-stricken nations, we simply give them a little packet with a new thermometer and a card describing Ebola...

Nurses Union: White House and CDC Have “Ignored” and “Lied” To Us
by Tammy on October 16, 2014Nurses and members of the National Nurses Organizing Committee perform a “die in” on Wednesday to protest the lack of preparation of medical personnel to deal with Ebola outbreaks outside the L’Unione Italiana Italian Club building on in Tampa’s Ybor City. (Sam Owens/Tampa Bay Times via AP) Amazing comments from RoseAnn DeMoro, the head of National Nurses United. It’s become unusual to hear blunt talk about the Obama regime, but we now have a situation where it’s becoming clear to everyone Obama’s incompetent and he’s surrounded himself with smug, inexperienced 30-year-olds and idiotic leftists who view the average citizen as a distracting irritant. Thank goodness the nurses have a leader who isn’t afraid to confront the maniacs who are putting...

Newest Ebola Patient Flew Frontier Airlines Day Before Diagnosis
by Tammy on October 15, 2014And the clusterfark continues. This second confirmed infection is a person from the team that treated Duncan in Texas. She flew from Cleveland to Dallas the day before presenting at the hospital with a fever. Ebola has been confirmed. The CDC is now scrambling to reach the 132 other people on the flight. Instapundit has a resonable suggestion about this debacle: Just a reminder, neither this infection or the infection of Nina Pham had to happen. They are a direct result of the refusal of this administration to isolate infected countries. And yet they continue to argue that stopping flights from West Africa, or simply stopping anyone who has been in those countries, from entering somehow wouldn’t make a difference....

Stuart Varney Destroys NIH Claim That Budget Cuts Killed Ebola Vaccine
by Tammy on October 14, 2014Filling in for Cavuto, Varney does a great job highlighting the gobsmacking hypocrisy of the NIH director who blames supposed budget cuts for lack of an Ebola vaccine. Watch as Varney details the ridiculous “studies” on which they’ve been recklessly spending our tax dollars. All these federal bureaucrats should be thrown out on the ears. Dallas Ebola Patient Dies, Hospital Confirms
by Tammy on October 8, 2014The first Ebola death on our soil. Not a surprise. Our missionary workers survived likely due to the special Zmapp serum, which is now all gone. This is a virus which has an 80% mortality rate. Those who survive naturally are lucky. More of the Zmapp drug will not be available until next year. In the meantime, Obama has announced temperature screenings at five US airports: JFK, Dulles Atlanta, Newark, and O’Hare in Chicago. Only JFK starts this week. The rest, next week. Not that anything could happen in 7 more days. Via Fox News. The Liberian man diagnosed with Ebola last month just days after arriving in Texas has died following nearly two weeks in a Dallas hospital’s isolation...

United Notifying Passengers on Dallas Ebola Patient’s Flights
by Tammy on October 2, 2014It’s about time, and good for them. Seems as though the airline isn’t buying the CDC line that it’s impossible for anyone on those flights to have been exposed/infected. They’ve also released the flight numbers involved in the infected man’s journey to Dallas. Via NBC. United Airlines, which flew Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan on two of the three flights that brought him to the U.S. last month, is trying to notify as many as 400 people who may have been on Duncan’s flights, referring them to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the airline told NBC News on Thursday. United said it doesn’t believe any fellows passengers are at risk but that it was taking the move...

This Week’s Column: If The Government Is Paying The Bill, It’s Best To Die Young
by Tammy on September 30, 2014Illustration on government healthcare encouraging death after 75 by Alexander Hunter/The Washington Times My Washington Times column for this week has posted. I hope you like it. Please Tweet, Facebook, Blog and spread the word! Thanks! Washington Times: If the government is paying the bill, it’s best to die young: Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel suggests life is not worth living after 75 Much is being made of Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel’s essay in The Atlantic, “Why I Hope to Die at 75,” where he argues that dying at 75 would be best for everyone. He’s entitled to his opinion, of course, but what makes this especially concerning is his role as an architect of the so-called “Affordable Care Act” (Obamacare), his position...

New HHS Rules: Have You Ever Been Bitten By A Turkey? Or Hit By A Kayak?
by Shifra on March 5, 2014Yes, another nail in the coffin of our once-best health care system in the world. And this is yet another reason why we must take back the Senate and keep the House in November, and make POTUS quack like a lame duck. Via Investor’s Business Daily: New Rule Creates Avalanche Of Time-Wasting Paperwork For Doctors Were you hit by a falling kayak? Injured while baking, vacuuming or spending too much time in a deep freeze? Encountered a lamppost for the second time? Were you bitten by a turkey? Never fear, the ICD-10 is here. Starting this October, your doctor will be required to record precisely whether you were bitten or struck by a parrot, macaw, chicken, turkey, or any “other...

More Website Woes: Md. Health Exchange Helpline Sends Callers to Seattle Pottery Co.
by Shifra on January 21, 2014Actually, it makes a certain amount of sense that their calls would reach a pottery store. Because Obamacare is…a crock! 🙂 Via The Baltimore Sun: Critics say wrong number is latest failure of Md. health exchange Critics said Saturday that the latest problem to hit Maryland’s online health exchange — an incorrect help-line number that directed hundreds of callers to a Seattle-based pottery business — was another symptom of the poorly operating website. “You can’t make this stuff up, and I guess if it wasn’t so serious, it could be funny,” said Senate Minority Leader David R. Brinkley, a Frederick County Republican. The website mistakenly listed a 1-800 number that sent some Marylanders attempting to pick a health insurance provider...

Brits Getting Pseudonymized
by Pat_S on January 19, 2014Soon drug companies, insurance companies, researchers and others will be able to pay to access NHS records from a national database called care.data. An application to obtain information will have to be approved. There are five reasons why data can be accessed: health intelligence, health improvement, audit, health service research and service planning. That narrows it down, doesn’t it? Data identifying the patients will be scrubbed, but not enough to assure complete anonymity. The scrubbing process is referred to as “pseudonymisation”. NHS patient data to be made available for sale to drug and insurance firms Harvested from GP and hospital records, medical data covering the entire population will be uploaded to the repository controlled by a new arms-length NHS information...
