Finally Some Justice: Ex-New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Found Guilty of Corruption
by Tammy on February 12, 2014Don’t let the jail door hit you on the way in… Via Fox News. A jury convicted former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Wednesday on 20 of 21 federal corruption counts, including bribery, marking a stunning fall for the feisty official who gained a national profile following Hurricane Katrina. The 57-year-old Democrat, who led his city through the aftermath of the 2005 storm, was found guilty of charges that he accepted bribes, free trips and other gratuities from contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in city work while he was in office. He will remain free on bond while he awaits sentencing. Each of the charges carries a sentence from three to 20 years, but how...

Italy Finds Amanda Knox Guilty (Again), She Won’t Go Back ‘Willingly’
by Tammy on January 30, 2014This now goes to their Supreme Court, but really, she was found guilty, then innocent, now guilty again. Pathetic. Now there would supposedly be a fight over extradition. Let me tell you this right now, no one in Obama’s regime better try to send this girl back to that pit. And if the Italians insist on going after her we’re going to have to punish Italy by making sure Americans choose another country to vacation in. Jerks. Amanda Knox ‘frightened and saddened’ by new guilty verdict American student Amanda Knox said she was “frightened and saddened” by an Italian court’s decision Thursday to reverse her acquittal in the 2007 killing of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher. “Having been found innocent...

Here’s What Happens When You Treat Terrorists Like Common Criminals
by Maynard on January 1, 2014Lynne Stewart, the American lawyer who assisted in terrorist murder conspiracies, is being released on grounds of "compassion". Is this another of Obama's love notes to the Muslim Brotherhood, and an attempt to drive us even farther away from Egypt? It looks like it.

Excellent==> 9/11 Families Win Right to Sue Saudi Arabia
by Tammy on December 20, 2013It’s about time. 9/11 Families ‘Ecstatic’ They Can Finally Sue Saudi Arabia Families of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks today celebrated a federal court’s ruling that allows relatives of people who died in the 9/11 terror attacks to sue Saudi Arabia. Most of the hijackers who attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001 were from Saudi Arabia, and the complaint states that much of the funding for the al-Qaeda terrorists came from Saudi Arabia. An attempt to sue Saudi Arabia in 2002 was blocked by a federal court ruling that said the kingdom had sovereign immunity. That ruling was reversed Thursday by a three-judge federal panel. “I’m ecstatic…. For 12 years we’ve been fighting to...

Federal Judge Writes Epic Smackdown Of ‘Likely Unconstitutional’ NSA Phone Record Collection
by Tammy on December 16, 2013Judge Richard Leon says the NSA collection of Americans’ phone records likely violates the Constitution. So now it’s official, Edward Snowden revealed unconstitutional activity by the US government. And so he has to hide out in Russia. We all deserve better than this, and thank goodness we still have a judiciary which isn’t afraid to tell the truth. Snowden has been a whistle-blower all along and while I want us to be spying on the bad guys, what the NSA has been doing has been anything but. After all, the Fed does nothing about the Tsarnaev brothers after being given clear evidence they were terrorists and yet they need to collect every single email and phone call made by American...

Finally! Fort Hood Shooter Hasan Forcibly Shaved In Prison
by Tammy on September 3, 2013Your feel-good story for the evening. The Army psychiatrist sentenced to death for the Fort Hood shooting rampage has been forcibly shaved, an Army spokesman said Tuesday. Maj. Nidal Hasan began growing a beard in the years after the November 2009 shooting that left 13 dead and 30 wounded. The beard prompted delays to his court-martial because it violated Army grooming regulations. He was convicted of all charges last month at his court-martial at the Central Texas Army post and sentenced to death. Now, Hasan is an inmate at the U.S. Detention Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., home to the military death row. Lt. Col. S. Justin Platt, a spokesman for military prison, said in a statement Tuesday that Hasan...

Bradley Manning Sentenced to 35 Years In Prison
by Tammy on August 21, 2013Not long enough. I’m also a little concerned we may end up paying for ‘gender reassignment’ surgery. I do hope he enjoys the fruits of his labor, which will include, I’m sure, being Bubba’s wife sooner than later. Jerk. Via CNN. Bradley Manning, the Army private whose disclosure of hundreds of thousands of U.S. military and diplomatic documents gave American officials a global case of heartburn, was sentenced to more than three decades in prison Wednesday. A military judge sentenced Manning to 35 years in prison — less than the 60 years prosecutors sought, as well as the 90 years he could have received — minus credit for the about three and a half years he’s already been behind bars....

George Zimmerman Verdict: NOT GUILTY
by Tammy on July 13, 2013For the first time in quite some time, we have actual justice from a jury. We’ve had so many unjust verdicts, so I had no expectations for justice, so I’m especially thrilled they did the right thing. The state wanted to use this man as some sort of political sacrifice. I’m thrilled that did not happen. Here are my tweets as I first heard the result: Consider this your open thread on this issue. Update in comments with additional links, and our team will update here as well. Congratulations to George Zimmerman, prevailing in an obvious case of self-defense. This is a victory which would not have been possible without everyone contributing to the GZ Defense Fund. Yet it still...

Trust The Government
by Pat_S on June 14, 2013“Trust the government” is becoming the functional definition of privacy in America. It’s all a matter of what laws government passes to constrain government activity and what methods government uses to monitor government behavior. In the old tech days, the government couldn’t follow you around taking notes on your activities and then seal the file until such time you were suspected of being involved in planning a crime. That was a violation of the Fourth Amendment. Today’s technology gives government the ability to gather every breadcrumb of your life, every minute of every day. “Gathering” data, the government tells us, is not the same as “collecting” data. To collect date, i.e., view the details, the government needs a court order....

Good For Him. George Zimmerman Sues NBC Over Edited 911 Tape
by Tammy on October 4, 2012This is justified. There is absolutely no excuse for what they did to that man with that edited tape. The obsession to cast everyone as racist and the craven willingness to destroy lives in the process has got to stop. Via New York Post. Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is suing NBC over the network’s botched editing of his 911 tape, Page Six can exclusively reveal. We hear Zimmerman’s attorneys are about to file a complaint against NBC and its top executives, naming news president Steve Capus and correspondent Ron Allen, who was the reporter on the scene for the broadcast on “Today” on March 27. He also remained the reporter for the story on “NBC Nightly News.” A source...

This==> Obama Wins the Battle, Roberts Wins the War By Gutting Commerce Clause
by Tammy on June 28, 2012While we are disappointed in the ruling, as I discussed on Tammy Radio, declaring ObamaCare a tax opens up many new avenues with which to kill it. It also is a gift to Romney for campaign rhetoric, and will help him further define his campaign. Now, consider the other dynamic at play here–the nature of the Commerce Clause. This is one of many piece if good news from this decision which I hope will help you channel your current anger into impackful organizing for a Romney victory and conservatives taking the whole of Congress. From Slate. Obama Wins the Battle, Roberts Wins the War The chief justice’s canny move to uphold the Affordable Care Act while gutting the Commerce Clause...

John Edwards Trial–Not guilty on 1 count; mistrial declared on other 5 counts
by Tammy on May 31, 2012Good grief. Just plain good grief. Edwards’ speech after the verdict. Really, what an SoB. After 9 days of deliberation, a jury has found John Edwards not guilty on one of six charges of campaign finance corruption brought against him. A mistrial has been declared on the other five counts. After initially announcing Thursday afternoon that it had reached a unanimous verdict on only one of six charges against Edwards, the judge sent the jury back to continue deliberations on the remaining five counts. Shortly after that, the jurors said they were deadlocked on those counts, at which point the judge announced a verdict of not guilty on the third count against Edwards, which charged that he had accepted and...

Outrageous. Woman Gets 20 Years for Firing Warning Shot To Stop Abusive Husband
by Tammy on May 11, 2012In Florida, and prosecuted by the same woman prosecuting George Zimmerman. Another case of over-charging by State Attorney Angela Corey. I’ve included a snippet of the story here but click through and read the whole thing, you’ll be as infuriated as I am. Saying he had no discretion under state law, a judge sentenced a Jacksonville, Florida, woman to 20 years in prison Friday for firing a warning shot in an effort to scare off her abusive husband. Marissa Alexander unsuccessfully tried to use Florida’s controversial “stand your ground” law to derail the prosecution, but a jury in March convicted her of aggravated assault after just 12 minutes of deliberation. The case, which was prosecuted by the same state attorney...
