New Fed Ruling: Sending Free Cigars to US Troops Is Now Illegal
by Shifra on October 9, 2016Our troops are allowed to be in harm’s way, but can’t enjoy a free cigar? Got it. Via WSJ. You might think GIs in Iraq and Afghanistan have enough to worry about with Islamic State and the Taliban. But it turns out they’ve also got a problem called the Food and Drug Administration. In August a new FDA rule went into effect that forbids tobacco makers and distributors from handing out free samples. Some companies that have been donating cigars to service members for decades have now stopped for fear that this is now illegal. The FDA nuttiness has attracted the attention of Rep. Kathy Castor, a Democrat who represents Florida’s 14th district, which includes “Cigar City,” or Tampa. She...

Leaked Audio: Hillary Privately Opposed Major U.S. Nuclear Upgrade
by Shifra on September 27, 2016At a private fundraiser in February, Hillary stated: “The last thing we need are sophisticated cruise missiles that are nuclear armed.” Yeah, sounds like a plan to me…to further degrade and weaken our military. Really, do we need yet another feckless and clueless Commander-in-Chief? Via Free Beacon. Hillary Clinton privately told supporters this year that she would likely scrap a major upgrade to the United States’ nuclear weapons program, according to leaked audio of her remarks. At a private event in McLean, Va., in February, Clinton revealed that she would likely cancel plans to upgrade the nation’s cruise missile arsenal. “I certainly would be inclined to do that,” she told a questioner who asked about rolling back the Long Range...

Prison Inmates Produced Defective Combat Helmets for US Soldiers
by Tammy on August 18, 2016Anyone involved in this, including “Defense Contract Management Agency inspectors” should face criminal charges if all this is proven correct. Via Washington Times. Federal prison inmates used makeshift hatchets and a screw shoved through a piece of wood among other rudimentary tools to manufacture thousands of faulty Kevlar combat helmets designed to protect the lives of U.S. soldiers on the battlefield, according to a highly critical watchdog report that offered new details about the government boondoggle. More than 126,000 helmets manufactured at a Texas prison under a government contract were recalled after inspectors found major defects, including serious ballistic failures, in 2010, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General. Even though the...

House Report: CENTCOM Distorted Intel To Show ‘Success’ of Anti-ISIS Campaign
by Shifra on August 11, 2016In the business world, this is called fraud. Via Free Beacon. The U.S. military’s Central Command distorted intelligence reports to make the American-led campaign against the Islamic State and al Qaeda appear more successful than it actually was, a House Republican task force found. Officials familiar with the task force’s findings told the Daily Beast that the roughly 10-page report, which is expected to be publicly released by the end of next week, will confirm earlier complaints from lower level analysts at the Defense Intelligence Agency that Centcom higher-ups had doctored intelligence. Leaders of Centcom’s intelligence directorate also pressured their subordinates to downplay the threat of ISIS in military reports, the officials said. The task force, which included members of...

Israeli Defense Forces Join With U.S. Marines For Joint Anti-ISIS Combat Training
by Shifra on July 28, 2016Our Marines trained with the IDF so that they can “operate cooperatively in a future war.” Future war? What war? Didn’t Obama say the world is safer now than ever before? Via Jerusalem Post. IDF special forces units teamed up with US Marines last week for a joint military exercise in the Negev Desert in part aimed at coordinating techniques for combating terrorist activities such as that of Islamic State, Channel 2 revealed Thursday morning…. Channel 2 reported that the IDF forces relayed their experience in combating regional terrorism threats to the US forces, which can apply the training to America’s fight against ISIS in the Middle East. During the exercise, the troops took part in drills simulating helicopter landings...

(Video) Israel’s First Mixed-Gender Combat Battalion On Front Line Against ISIS
by Shifra on July 10, 2016Their English is a little shaky, but their fierce fighting spirit is very clear. Via NBC News. As Sgt. Talia Ben Tuvia scanned the Israel-Egypt border, there was no doubt in her mind that ISIS would one day attempt an attack from beyond the frontier. “We don’t see the Daesh fighters, but they are there in [Egypt’s] Sinai and are threatening to harm Israel,” she said, using another name for the extremist group. The 21-year-old is one of the female soldiers prepped for battle on Israel’s front lines. She serves as a member of the Karakal Battalion, which was founded in 2000 and is the country’s first to have male and female soldiers fighting side-by-side. Women form between 60 and...

Senate Votes to Require Women to Register for the Draft
by Tammy on June 17, 2016I know many of you have strong feelings about this. It does have a long way to go, and is attached to the larger defense bill. This is a quandry as the left and feminist groups that kept arguing that women should be eligible for every job in the military, including combat (and I agree, if they can deliver at the same level as men). Now that they are, there is no reason to exclude them from the draft. Maybe it’s not a bad idea to put Safe-Space Crybabies in the military. They’d learn a few things about discipline and accomplishment. In other words, they’d be forced to grow up. Via NPR. On Tuesday, the Senate passed a defense authorization...

Pandering to Turkey, US Orders Troops in Syria to Remove Kurdish Insignia
by Tammy on May 29, 2016I can’t wait for the menace of this administration to get out. It’s like being run by a gang of children running with scissors. Via Fox News. American special operations troops were not authorized to wear the patches of Kurdish forces while advising them in Syria and have been told to remove them, the U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad said Friday, after Turkish leaders protested. Army Col. Steve Warren said that while U.S. special operations forces have historically and routinely worn the insignia of foreign troops they are working with, this case was not appropriate due largely to political sensitivities. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said it was “unacceptable” for soldiers of a Turkish ally to use the patches of...

Bergdahl Court Martial Delayed Until 2017
by Tammy on May 17, 2016I hate the fact that this will be dragged on, and that Bergdahl isn’t in the brig through this. He’s free to work at the base and wander around. But the benefit of this is we should have a new environment with the next administration where those dealing with this scumbag will be free to handle it properly and without pressure or politics. Right now we have a Commander-in-Chief who held this guy up as a hero, had his parents in the Rose Garden and sent a staffer onto the morning shows declaring Bergdahl served his country well. What a nightmare these past 8 years have been. Via The Hill. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will not face court martial until...

Navy Officer Fired Over Iran’s Detention Of 10 Sailors
by Shifra on May 12, 2016Outrageous! If the Navy officer is fired, then the Commander-in-Chief should also go! Via WaPo: The Navy has fired the commander of the 10 American sailors who wandered into Iranian territorial waters in the Persian Gulf and were captured and held by Iran for about 15 hours. In a statement Thursday, the Navy said it had lost confidence in Cmdr. Eric Rasch, who was the executive officer of the squadron that included the 10 sailors at the time of the January incident. He was responsible for the training and readiness of the more than 400 sailors in the unit. A Navy official said Rasch failed to provide effective leadership, leading to a lack of oversight, complacency and failure to maintain...

Bill to Force Pentagon to Shift to US-Made Sneakers
by Tammy on May 2, 2016It’s about time. Made in the USA. Has a nice ring to it, especially for our military 😉 Via Boston Globe. New Balance has been waiting for years for the Department of Defense to buy athletic shoes that are made in this country. If US Representatives Niki Tsongas and Bruce Poliquin have their way, the Boston sneaker maker won’t have to wait much longer. The House of Representatives is poised to approve legislation within the next few weeks that would mandate that the Pentagon apply a 1941 law to the purchase of athletic footwear for its recruits. That law, known as the Berry Amendment, requires the military to buy American-made equipment and uniforms. Sneakers have long been exempt, because it...

Army Didn’t Consider Mission Risk When Planning Force Cuts
by Pat_S on April 14, 2016The Army plans to reduce forces to 980,000 down 132,000 from 2011 levels.According to a Government Accountability Office report the Army did not consider mission risk when deciding to cut support forces disproportionately to combat forces. The Army assumed support—a.k.a. enabler units such as transportation units and military police—could deploy more frequently and for longer duration than the Department of Defense policies allow. The GAO report says the planning for force reduction process assessed the risk to the “health” of the Army’s force but not to mission risk. Comprehensive Risk Assessment Needed for Planned Changes to the Army’s Force Structure According to Army guidance, the Army’s planning process should assess mission risk for both combat and enabler units. The Army...
