Karma! Via Daily Caller. Sony Pictures released a film starring Peter Fonda this week, even after the actor went on an unhinged, sexist, disturbing rant against President Trump’s family and members of his administration. The film bombed at the box office as audiences and critics alike gave it a thumbs down. The film, “Boundaries,” starring Fonda in a supporting role earned just over $30,000 since its release. Lebanon Bans the New Wonder Woman Movieby Tammy on May 31, 2017
Ridiculous, but highlights the Israeli and Jew-hating madness that engulfs that region. Via AP. A Lebanese security official says authorities have banned the new “Wonder Woman” movie following a campaign against its lead actress, who served in the Israeli army. Lebanon is officially at war with Israel. The ban is in accordance with a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling to Israel or having contacts with Israelis. The official says the ban issued by the minister of interior Wednesday has been relayed to the distribution company. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision has not yet been published. It is not clear if a planned premiere later Wednesday in Beirut will...
Maynard’s Movie Note: American Pastoralby Maynard on October 24, 2016
This isn't necessarily a recommendation, but "American Pastoral", now in theaters, is worth a note. It's based on Philip Roth's novel; the story of an American family disrupted by the controversies and radical politics of the 1960's.
AMC Theatres Abandoning Its Horrible “Texting-Allowed” Planby Tammy on April 15, 2016
Uh, yeah. Bad, bad, bad idea. Via Nerdist. A lot of the time internet outrage is stupid, ineffective, or both. But on rare occasions we can all come together in one, reasonable voice and say, “Nope. Noooooope. Don’t do that, that’s really dumb and infuriating and really don’t do that,” and we can make the world a better place—or at least our local theater. Well, we did it everyone, because AMC Theatres announced Friday that they are already abandoning plans to allow texting in their theaters, following a very loud and very negative reaction to the idea. NO TEXTING AT AMC. Won't happen. You spoke. We listened. Quickly, that idea has been sent to the cutting room floor. pic.twitter.com/JR0fo5megR —...
Maynard’s Movie Note: “Eye in the Sky”by Maynard on April 1, 2016
TAMs may enjoy the new Helen Mirren film, "Eye in the Sky". It's effective and highly suspenseful, and it covers the politics of the drone wars without being preachy or pushing an agenda. There are some characters whose necks you'll want to wring, but you'll love the Mirren character.
Maynard’s Notes on “The Wolf of Wall Street”by Maynard on January 6, 2014
This isn't exactly a recommendation, but I found myself weirdly fascinated by "The Wolf of Wall Street".
Your Mental Health Break: Julie Andrews Singing “Crazy World”by Tammy on October 2, 2013
Sort of apropos, no? 😉 One of my favorites from one of the most talented performers of the last 100 years in a movie on my Best of All Time list, Victor/Victoria. And to top it off, here’s a little chicklet who decides to take a nap under a cat’s chin. Enjoy! (HT @AceofSpadesHQ/strong>)
