NYT Slammed Trump For Troops in Syria, Now Attacks Their Return Home
by Shifra on December 24, 2018If President Trump found the cure for cancer, the MSM/Dems/Never-Trumpers would probably attack him for causing a rise in unemployment of oncologists. Via Daily Caller. What a difference a year can make for The New York Times. As President Donald Trump announced his decision Wednesday to withdraw the nation’s 2,000 troops from Syria, a bipartisan cadre of opinion-havers attacked him as recklessly abandoning allies in the region and jeopardizing America’s influence over foreign affairs. One newspaper was particularly harsh: The Times…. “Who will protect America now?” The Times asked…. Yet almost a year ago, on Jan. 19, 2018, that same editorial board raked the president over the coals for even daring to continue America’s policy of military adventurism. The Times...

Video: Iran’s ‘Fearless’ Special Forces Try to Flee Israeli Missile
by Shifra on May 11, 2018Somehow, the great, brave, fearless Iranian Quds fighters don’t seem quite so great, brave or fearless as an Israeli missile approaches. And a big Darwin Award goes to the guy who tried to run inside the truck just as the missile hit. Via Free Beacon. In response to Iranian rocket attacks on the Golan Heights on Wednesday, Israel attacked nearly all of Iran’s military infrastructure inside of Syria. Video captured one Israeli air strike on a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile, and as one journalist put it, some nearby Syrian or Iranian troops appeared to have no idea the Israeli strike was incoming. One figure appeared to run inside the truck right before impact. The Quds, the special forces unit of the...

Video Flashback: Dems Praise Obama For “Ridding” Syria of Chemical Weapons
by Shifra on April 9, 2018Yeah, thanks, Obama…for nothing. Via Free Beacon. Reports on Tuesday revealed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies again targeted civilians in a deadly attack where chemical weapons were used. The attack was one of the worst chemical attacks in the six-year Syrian civil war. Rewind back to the fall of 2013, when the Obama administration was working with Syrian and Russian leaders to ensure that Assad’s stockpile of chemical weapons would be turned over and destroyed. A deal was reached, and the Obama administration and fellow Democrats applauded the achievement. The agreement was struck a year after former President Barack Obama drew his now infamous “red line” in August 2012, when he threatened military action against Assad if he...

It’s On! US Launches Missiles at Syrian Base After Chemical Weapons Attack
by Tammy on April 6, 2017Let’s hope this is just the beginning of a comprehensive attack that will cripple Assad. Via NBC News. The United States launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night at a Syrian airfield in response to what it believes was the Syrian government’s use of banned chemical weapons blamed for having killed at least 100 people on Tuesday, U.S. military officials told NBC News. Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired at least 50 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha’irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That’s the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons. There was no immediate word on casualties....

(Video) WH Spokeshole Can’t Say What Obama Admin’s New Syria Policy Is
by Shifra on September 30, 2016New Syria Policy? Really? Because that would imply that Obama actually had an earlier Syria policy. Who knew? Via Free Beacon. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest could not say Thursday what the Obama administration’s new policy in Syria is after Secretary of State John Kerry threatened to end bilateral engagement with Russia inside the war-torn country. A journalist asked Earnest to elaborate on Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s comments Thursday morning, when he said that President Obama asked his national security team to come up with new options to implement in Syria. When asked to discuss some of these options, Earnest did not name any. “The president is regularly urging his national security team to evaluate the situation...

Kerry Draws Red Line, Says Syria Better Start Removing Assad By Aug 1
by Shifra on May 4, 2016Well, maybe not a red line. Maybe more of a burgundy line? And there will be “serious consequences” if Syria does not comply with Kerry’s demands. Yep, the WH will probably ban all Syrian hummus from their menu! Via Daily Caller. Secretary of State John Kerry just gave Syria a hard deadline for starting the political transition to get rid of Syrian President Bashar Assad: Aug. 1. Kerry told reporters Tuesday if Syria doesn’t begin the process of removing Assad by Aug. 1, there will be serious consequences, The Associated Press reports. “If Assad does not adhere to this, there will clearly be repercussions,” Kerry said. “One of them may be the total destruction of the cease-fire and then go...

What’s In Your Briefcase? Putin Pokes Fun At Kerry
by Pat_S on March 25, 2016John Kerry met with Vladimir Putin in Geneva for another round of Syrian talks. Putin took note that John Kerry debarked from his plane carrying his own briefcase. Putin said he was “frustrated and upset” to see that. Maybe things in America are not so good that a senior official had to carry his own luggage. Putin speculated Kerry might have something in the briefcase that he could not trust anyone else to handle. Perhaps money to haggle on key matters for the talks. Kerry replied Putin will later get to see what is in the briefcase and he will be pleasantly surprised. Hmmmm. I’d like to know what’s in his briefcase that will pleasantly surprise Putin. Emotional Baggage: Vladimir...

Ben Franklin’s Answer to a Govt Program that Sent Criminals to America
by Maynard on November 18, 2015In the years leading up to the American Revolution, the colonists came to see themselves as subjugated by a powerful, unrepresentative government. In a 1751 letter to the Pennsylvania Gazette, Benjamin Franklin (signing himself "Americanus") satirically attacked the British practice of emptying their prisons and sending criminals to the colonies. He expresses sentiments that are remarkably similar to our modern distrust of and disgust with today's Washington: Smug superiority, indifference to the will of the people or the fate of the people, and the arbitrary and overriding exercise of power.

Putin: US Should Have Given Russia $500 Million Instead
by Pat_S on October 12, 2015Putin is boasting about how effective Russia’s airstrikes are in Syria. Much better than what the U.S. did with their $500 million program to train and support militant groups. In fact, says Putin, the U.S. money would have been better spent if we gave it to Russia. Bravado, another sign of weakness I suppose. Putin says Russia’s campaign in Syria is more effective than America’s “It would have been better to give us $500 million,” Putin said of the aborted U.S. program to fund the Free Syrian Army. “At least we would have used it more effectively from the point of view of fighting international terrorism.” Snap! Putin also offered the U.S. a supporting role to join Russia’s Syrian involvement...

Russia Says Bad Weather Reason For Violation Of Turkish Airspace
by Pat_S on October 5, 2015And we know which way the wind is blowing. A Russian jet violated Turkish airspace over the weekend. It left after being intercepted by Turkish F-16s. The Russian Defense Ministry said there was nothing nefarious going on. Russia says Turkish airspace violation ‘a mistake,’ Turkish media report “This current incident is a result of bad weather conditions in this region,” spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters. “You shouldn’t look for conspiracy theories.” At first the Russians said it was a navigational error. John Kerry expressed concern saying it was the kind of thing that could have resulted in Turkey shooting down the Russian jet. Obama is looking for rainbows.

Russian Bombing Authorization Not Limited to Syria Says Official
by Pat_S on September 30, 2015Russian parliamentarian Konstantin Kosachyov points out that the authorization for use of force is not limited to Syria. He said that Russia could strike beyond the Syrian border if targeted extremists flee across the border. The Latest: Russia could strike beyond Syria, exec suggests (at 7:35 pm mark) A prominent member of Russia’s parliament has suggested that Russia could strike beyond Syria if the extremists targeted by its airstrikes flee across the border. “When you poison an insect it’s not enough to send it into the neighbors’ kitchen,” said Konstantin Kosachyov, who chairs the international affairs committee in the Russian parliament’s upper house. “This would make our efforts to counter terrorism meaningless.” Kosachyov noted that President Vladimir Putin’s request for...

Russia Bombing In Syria Not Targeting ISIS
by Pat_S on September 30, 2015With one hour warning to the U.S., telling the U.S. to stop flying warplanes in Syrian airspace, and 48 hours after meeting with Obama, Russia began dropping bombs in Syria. Not on Islamic State targets. They are targeting Syrian opposition forces. Putin defies West as Russia bomb ‘Syrian rebel targets instead of Isil’ Explaining the dramatic sequence of events, [State Department spokeman] Kirby said: “A Russian official in Baghdad this morning informed US Embassy personnel that Russian military aircraft would begin flying anti-ISIL missions today over Syria. “He further requested that US aircraft avoid Syrian airspace during these missions,” he said. The strikes targeted northern areas in the Homs countryside. Six children were among the dead, while dozens were wounded,...

Russian Parliament OK’s Use Of Military Force In Syria
by Pat_S on September 30, 2015A technicality. Parliamentary approval is required by law. The vote was unanimous to approve the use of military force in Syria. Use of air force only. The last time the parliament did this, Crimea was invaded. Russian parliament grants Putin right to use military force in Syria “For Russian forces to operate there legitimately … a law was needed.” There have some media reports from the Middle East that Russian military jets have already started carrying out air strikes in Syria. The Kremlin has declined to confirm that. Last week Putin deployed 28 warplanes including SU-27 Flanker fighters for air-to-air combat, 15 military helicopters and SA-22 surface-to-air missiles. Russian ground forces are already deployed in Syria. Satellite photos show preparation...
