Report: UN to tax Americans for Green Climate Fund
by Tammy on December 5, 2011Make no mistake, this is what the “global warming” hoax has been about all along–taxing Americans to prop up the corrupt socialist globalism promulgated by the UN. And they expect us to pay for it. President Obama’s team of negotiators at the United Nations Climate Change Conference may agree to a tax on foreign currency transactions, designed to pay for a “Green Climate Fund,” that would fall disproportionately on American travellers and businesses, according to a group attending the conference that is skeptical of the UN position on global warming. Negotiators at the conference are considering “a new tax on every foreign currency transaction in the world,” according to the Center for a Constructive Alternative (CFACT). “Every time you travel abroad,...

US walks out of UN as Iran delivers anti-US speech
by Tammy on September 22, 2011The big question, of course, is why is this genocidal maniac even allowed in the United States? We’ve blocked freaks before, like Arafat, yet allow this clearly insane beast who publicly advocates for mass murder. While I’m glad we, and others, walked out, it’s a travesty this thing is in New York at all. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — American diplomats led a walkout at the U.N. General Assembly Thursday as Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad issued a sweeping attack on the United States and major West European nations, calling them “arrogant powers” ruled by greed and eager for military adventurism. The two U.S. diplomats, who specialize in the Middle East, were followed out of the chamber by diplomats from more than...

Czech This Out – Vaclav Klaus Tells UN Mind Your Own Business
by Pat_S on September 25, 2010A post by Pat Czech president tells UN to stay out of economics Czech President Vaclav Klaus on Saturday criticized U.N. calls for increased “global governance” of the world’s economy, saying the world body should leave that role to national governments. The solution to dealing with the global economic crisis, Klaus told the U.N. General Assembly, did not lie in “creating new governmental and supranational agencies, or in aiming at global governance of the world economy.” “On the contrary, this is the time for international organizations, including the United Nations, to reduce their expenditures, make their administrations thinner, and leave the solutions to the governments of member states,” he said. Sweet. Klaus also said the measures taken so far combating...

North Korea Claims American Prisoner Attempted Suicide
by Pat_S on July 9, 2010A post by Pat UPDATE Jul 10: There is reportedly optimism that North Korea will release Gomes “for the right price”. The State Department says Swedish diplomats visited Gomes eight times. The Swiss declined to release details about Gomes’ conditions citing respect for the family’s privacy. The State Department called for North Korea to release him on humanitarian grounds. ————————– Aijalon Gomes was arrested by North Korea in January for crossing the border. He was sentenced in April to eight years hard labor. A few weeks ago North Korea threatened even harsher punishment for Gomes if the U.S. persisted in it’s “hostile” attitude toward North Korea with regard to the sinking of a South Korean ship. Today, when the U.N....

What Are the New Sanctions on Iran?
by Maynard on June 11, 2010A post by Maynard This Economist article clarifies what’s being sanctioned. This further round of sanctions is unlikely to stop Iran if it is set on making a bomb. The sanctions add a list of heavy weapons that may not be sold to Iran, and forbid Iran to develop ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. They lengthen slightly a list of Iranian officials and institutions on which various travel and financial restrictions are imposed. Perhaps most prominently, the resolution calls on countries to board ships bound for Iran and inspect their cargo, to enforce the resolution (if the country flagging the ships agrees, which is a big if). What the resolution does not do is take a bite out...

Biting Sanctions: Rare, Medium, Not Well Done
by Pat_S on May 11, 2010A post by Pat Is this the U.N. Security Council’s idea of biting sanctions against Iran? Last week the Iranians held a dinner party that only in the sugar coated world of diplomacy had any meat. The U.S. normally doesn’t attend Iranian dinners. This time we sent a low level Wolff. The diplomatic delicacies included Chinese and franks. Even though we can smell the Iranians are preparing a mushroom cloud for a future occasion, sanctions were not on the table at this party. You can bet nothing was Kosher. If you can swallow it, these are the reasons the dinner satiated the already engorged diplomats: “We see this as an opportunity for Iran to show the council that they’re prepared...
