Sinking of USS Indianapolis 75th Anniversary

This year is the 75th anniversary of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. A ship that many people are unaware of. Its pivotal role during the war was to deliver the components of the Hiroshima bomb. Torpedoed and sunk on the return trip, no distress signal was sent. My father’s brother was a young man named John. A 19 year old whose fate was sealed and never returned home. I know that many people have lost loved ones in all of this country’s wars. Not to diminish these other deaths, but when it’s your own family, it really hits you directly. I never knew him, but it destroyed my grandmother. She had 6 sons serving in WWII, and he was the only one that did not return.
