Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made. — Otto von Bismarck

It’s all a farce from Hell but just to give an example of what’s going on, here’s an exchange from the Senate Finance Committee yesterday. Sen. Kyl made the point that the CBO based its indexing assumptions on staff clarifications which conflict with what is actually in the bill the committee was about to vote on. The focus was whether or not indexing would be applied to the fines for not purchasing insurance. If indexed, the fines would increase proportionately over time, otherwise they could go down to zero.

Sen. Baucus tried to get Dr. Elmendorf of the CBO to go along with a ventriloquist act where he would put words into Elmendorf’s mouth. Basically Baucus wanted Elmendorf to say he checks back to the original wording after receiving clarification. In other words, Baucus suggests the CBO would verify the accuracy of a clarification by comparing it to the bill text that prompted the request for the clarification in the first place. To his credit, Dr. Elmendorf would not go along with the show. His bewildered looks are priceless. Baucus gave up and brushed off any concerns that there was a conflict between staff clarifications and the wording in the bill. There’s nothing nefarious going on, he said. He did point out that some of the amendments could have come in during the wee hours of the morning.

Sen. Kyl tried once more to ask whether the actual bill would include indexing, but Sen. Baucus told him his time was up. Kyl’s question was ignored and Baucus moved on to Sen. Kerry.

What the Democrats are doing, in collusion with a handful of Republican dupes, is putting words and data through a sausage grinder until something marginally palatable is produced. It will not be good for your health.

I saw this morning that another rep senator (Collins from Maine) is about to jump on the obama care band wagon. I am at a losss. The projected costs for this is a joke. For giggles, let us assume this plan is great (which is is horrible), we CANNOT afford it. I saw a fantastic washer and dryer. If I were to purchase it, it will save me money, it works far better than the set I have. But I cannot afford it, so I cannot buy it. Why is the consept so difficult to get a handle on?!

Tammy! PLEASE keep interjecting Obama saying “We’re out of money now” during your musical interludes. It is HILARIOUS!

Bismarck was a great man. We need him now more than ever. Too bad he’s been dead for over a century but if anyone could turn the United States around it would be him. It would be open season on moonbats and RINOs in a Bismarck Administration.

It’s no surprise to me. Oink oink, slurp slurp, whadda-I godda do to get you on board wid-dis bill? Need some money? how about a nice toad hatchery, right in the middle of Maine!, I can even see a big bronze statue of a certain senator in that big, fat drippin’ with Obama stimulatin’ money budget! They will all sell out, especially when it’s us they’re selling out. Look at Medicare, and look at the VA. That is what the health care system will look like within 10 years of the puplic option becomming available. The government will use general fund tax money to out-compete private insurance until private plans are only “supplimental” to the public plan. After that you will have Canada & the U.K., where the saying is: “Delay is the deadliest form of denial.”

Isn’t Elmendorf a character of Harry Potter movies? Wasn’t he the big giant guy with the huge beard who said something to the kids, then thought better of it and said “…probly shouldn’t have told you that”. Maybe I have my science fiction movies mixed up…….sigh.
