People are so smart. We even made our phones smart. We use them to talk to others, send text messages and picture messages and connect to the cyber world. There are gazillions of apps such as the popular Angry Birds to download for our amusement. Cellular phones are omnipresent and, for many, the center of our personal universe. From time to time the greater universe decides it must remind humans they are vulnerable despite their intelligence and ingenuity.

The omnipotent Powers That Be like to amuse themselves too. In a manner of speaking, they recently downloaded an app which we can call Hungry Cows. Here’s how the game works.

Hungry cows knock down a fence and find something to nibble on. Soon, mobile phone customers in a UK rural area experience poor signals and lost text messages. Eventually, there is no signal at all. People are perplexed. They became increasingly mystified and angry. The phone company finally discovers the cow culprits had chewed some essential equipment. Then two big companies have to sort out which one is responsible for repairs starting with the fence.

Because the Powers That Be are the gamers, it all plays out in real life.

I’m sure the cows were having a hardy laugh over their enlistment by the greater universe to send a message to the puny humans. Adding their signature to the prank, the cows chewed out lines which shut down service to a town called Moota causing the locals to…what else…have a cow. A nice touch.

Brava! Cows, agents of the cosmos.

Vodafone UK Coverage Disrupted By Cows

A spokesperson for Vodafone said, “It seems that cows have eaten the BT link. As these links are owned and managed by BT, it is their responsibility to repair any faults.”

Whilst a spokesperson for British Telecom commented, “It is our equipment but not our site, therefore we had to wait for the repairs to the fence to be completed and for the area to be made safe. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by these unusual and unforeseeable circumstances.”

Vodafone has a pretty good sense of humor themselves as demonstrated in the Zoo Zoo ads which aired in India.

Guaranteed 16 years of no liberals in Whitehouse, Cain receives 8 years of learning about our corrupted government practices before he becomes president, and Gov. Palin will have a pro-business VP to help her get this country on track.
