New Jersey town prepares to let go of White Oak tree that pre-date American Revolution

My home town resides in an area of New Jersey that features a number of houses and locales where George Washington literally slept and planned critical strategy. During that time the community of Basking Ridge was building itself around an older landmark: a White Oak tree that has now passed the 600 year old mark and is registered as the oldest of it's kind in America. Sadly, residents are preparing for a community without this focal point as the tree gradually withers and dies.
