This is a great new short novel by Sheryl Longin, “Dorian Greyhound: A Dog’s Tale” and is a fantastic book for parents to share with their children, for pet lovers and owners, and for those who have loved and lost a beloved animal.

I recommend it highly, especially for those of us who have a hard time giving up current affairs, or politics, and history. This is a great book, written from the POV of Dorian.

Here is the book description from the publisher:

Straight from the canine’s mouth comes this truly “Wilde” narrative of the life and times of Dorian Greyhound. From his lowly origins and brutish upbringing to his well-deserved position as cherished family member, this self-made dog marks a lot of territory, though he would blush (if he could) to admit it. With a dry wit and as much candor as his old-school manners allow, he recounts his physically and emotionally harrowing journey from an Arizona race track to his Hollywood Hills mansion. The constant struggle between his refined sensibilities and his baser instincts leads him in and out of trouble and if, ultimately, he emerges a wiser and better dog; his tale has something to offer us all. Dorian Greyhound is illustrated by noted painter Martha Szabo.

And while I am the first person to spend all my time at the bookstore in the politics or history section, I have made a pledge to branch out and this book is a good way to start. Click on the picture above for the Amazon link, or you can get it here.

Though I avidly follow politics and current events, most of my reading (90%) is relegated to Sci-fi with only the occasional foray into books such as yours and Hannity’s, Miniter etc….Nice Blog.

I am quite curious on how someone could transform Oscar Wilde’s “Dorian Grey” and transform it into a children’s book about our canine friends. I hope to be pleasantly surprised rather than thoroughly disappointed as I so cynically anticipate. Needless to say, I am going to purchase and read on your recommendation alone.

I’m the same way you are, except that I always troll the remainder piles. Oh, and I always give wide berth to the self improvement books.

Non-fiction is inadequate to express the complexities and subtleties of the human condition. Without storytelling, there’s nothing but a zillion facts that never quite connect.
