The host of “Meet the Press,” and one of NBC’s more fair and respected journalists has died of a heart attack. Send prayers to his family.
Tim Russert, the Democratic operative turned NBC commentator who revolutionized Sunday morning television and infused journalism with his passion for politics, died this afternoon. Russert suffered a heart attack while working in his office on Washington’s Nebraska Avenue. Details were not immediately available…
Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw gave MSNBC viewers the news of Russert’s death at 3:40 p.m.
“He worked to the point of exhaustion so many weeks,” Brokaw said, adding: “This news division will not be the same without his strong, clear voice.”
Brokaw said Russert had just returned from a family trip to Italy with his wife, writer Maureen Orth. Their son, Luke, graduated from Boston College this spring, Brokaw said.
A solemn reminder to enjoy your family, and every minute you have, as tomorrow is not promised.
I am proud to be the first to say “We’ll miss you Tim.” For those of you who don’t know, Hamburg is a suburb of Buffalo, and everyone around here saw Tim as a great ambassador for our area.
Rest in Peace and condolences to the Russert family.
Even though he used to be an operative for Democrats, he was the closest thing NBC had to being impartial. Godspeed to his loved ones left behind. I only wish it was Olbermann instead.
