Edwards Admits Sexual Affair; Lied as Presidential Candidate

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.

In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.

Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter’s baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test. Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby’s birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

Which is why one of his aides said he was the father, because she went from the candidate to an assistant and it just happens the assistant got her pregnant? Uh, yeah, that’s the ticket. And one must truly ask: if your former girlfriend got knocked up by one of your campaign aides so quickly after you dumped her, why are you having a secret meeting with her and the baby at the Beverly Hilton Hotel a**wipe?

Oh and it’s supposed to be better that he cheated on his seriously ill wife with someone whom he does not love. As though doing something that awful to your family is better if you do it with someone you don’t even care about.

But here is one of my favorite parts of this:

Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease. [so it’s ok to cheat on your cancer-in-remission wife]

And then there’s this little tidbit:

Edwards today admitted the National Enquirer was correct when it reported he had visited Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton last month.

The former Senator said his wife had not known about the meeting.

Scum. Of. The. Earth.

Here now is one of the ‘webisodes’ the girlfriend produced for him. She is apparently the off-camera woman whom is ‘interviewing’ him. In it Edwards, as he flirts with his girlfriend on the airplane, actually talks about the “moral and just” America he intends to create. Priceless.

“Do you think most normal Americans have any idea what we do?”

And a little flashback can’t hurt…I wonder if he’s feeling pretty these days?

Edwards admits to affair, denies fathering child

David Bonior, Edwards’ campaign manager for his 2008 presidential bid, said Friday he was disappointed and angry after hearing about Edwards’ confession.

“Thousands of friends of the senators and his supporters have put their faith and confidence in him and he’s let him down,” said Bonior, a former congressman from Michigan. “They’ve been betrayed by his action.”

Asked whether the affair would damage Edwards’ future aspirations in public service, Bonior replied: “You can’t lie in politics and expect to have people’s confidence.”

In 2006, Edwards’ political action committee paid $100,000 in a four-month span to a newly formed firm run by Hunter, who directed the production of just four Web videos, one a mere 2 1/2 minutes long.

What a prince of a man! He uses the woman as a sexual plaything and then tells the world he doesn’t love her. What a charmer! How fortunate we are to occupy the same planet with such a selfless liberal. Randy.

HAHAHAHA!!! Yes!! The truth always comes out. God bless the National Enquirer

  3. mrfixit says:

This guy is nothing but a snake oil salesman. After he takes his “Pretty Hair Pills” he just slithers off to find another “class” to rep in a lawsuit. Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. I’m willing to bet, if the media won’t drop this, it comes out that he is the baby’s father after all. So called elites like him think we all are just plain stupid rubes that will swallow anything. If he dumped her before, and she immediately (and literally appearantly) bounced off his aide, why does he visit her now?

  4. Young American says:

Now we all have some idea as to what goes on when he’s not on stage. What a buffoon. Tammy was right on when she said Edwards was more of a sleaze than Clinton. Can’t wait to hear about how the MSM handle this one.

  5. marleed says:

This is a man who according to World Net Daily received a “Father of the Year” award eight months before the birth of Rielle Hunter’s baby. What a piece of work!

  6. Ripper says:

Actually, he is such a girly man, if he had been caught with a guy (not that there’s anything wrong with that), I would not have been surprised.
He spends too much time on his hair and I’ll bet that he gets manicures and facials.

That’s the funniest thing I’ve read all day.

When this first broke, I was worried about how many conservatives were using the National Enquirer as a source. I thought it was cheap ammo for the left, and that if it were the other way around, the right would (correctly) excoriate liberals for quoting a tabloid.

But now…it’s so nice to see the iron curtain that the media had over this story ripped off. This zit was almost elected the Vice President of the United States.

I guess that’s why he got so touchy about Ann Coulter inferring that he was a fag. He’s tried way too hard to disprove it. I like her new name for him: A Baby Daddy for Both Americas.

Surprise, the story Edwards only recently described as ridiculous tabloid trash is true. What other revelations from St. John The Immaculate and what do they mean?
It was an “error in judgment”. I thought I’d get away with it.
It was a “mistake”. I didn’t get away with it.
It was conduct that “was disloyal to my…core beliefs”. ‘Core beliefs’ being the insincere stupid platitudes the little people expect to hear from me.
I always loved my wife and never loved my mistress. I love only myself.

  10. Topiary Lady says:

So the guy gets caught cheating on his dying wife and what does he blame for his extra-marital horizontal recreational activities? Why, the campaigning – naturally.

Apparently Edwards claims to have only become narcissistic enough to do such a thing as a result of his presidential runs. This of course is true because in the past when he was a lowly lawyer channelling dead children in the courtroom, he was all about the modesty. Yes, Modest John – that was him. Right.

Now if he can just toss in the ‘ol AmBien excuse he could claim to have not even enjoyed the sex because he was asleep while he got it on with his mistress. It would sort of give the tale a nice finish.

I’m guessing that Slick Willie is wrapping up a nice box of cigars to congratulate little Johnny. I would’nt recommend that John actually smoke any of them though. You just never know…

Like Billy Jeff, the Silky Pony has found out that you can’t hide from karma. I must admit that I love that the National Enquirer was right yet again and the MSM is revealed as the complicit water carriers of the Left that they are.

The unfortunate victims in this whole mess are the kids. Nice example to set there, Johnny. Scumbag.

  13. Ken Pellman says:

I’ll be waiting for Rev. Jesse Jackson to offer him counseling on this one.

  14. josai says:

Why the hell would you use the phrase “I’ve been stripped bare” in describing your indiscretion??? three words….piece….of….$#!T!!! I’m sure newsrooms across the country are weeping for this “champion” of the downtrodden. Cheating on your terminally ill wife of 30 years. Can’t wait to hear someone’s “special comment” on this.

  15. SlimFemme says:

Yet again the National Enquirer was right. I would never have thought that a tabloid magazine would do a better job in investigating politicans than the establishment media!! I feel for his wife and children. Couldn’t he have allowed her to live her finals days in peace?? I knew this guy was creepy all along!!

  16. Word-Drum says:

This is just fun. I see smoke in the studio at CNN. Edwards gets the gold in the scumbag race.

  17. Talkin Horse says:

“I needed two wives because there are two Americas!”

  18. Idiot#3 says:

The worst thing about Edwards isn’t his lyin’ and cheatin’ or giving PAC money to keep his squeeze in silk and Dom. Those drones deserve for him to waste their money. Worst is what he did to OBGyns to get rich and the thousands of women who had c-sections because of him.

BTW, I just love your scraped-off, burnt-toast approach to opinion. Avengers theme…awesome. 11th grader crush in ’66, on the original Cougar listening to it.
