  1. Kelly says:

My vote is a resounding, “Hell, no!” I do not wish him a successful presidency. Let him struggle, squirm and fail.

  2. Young American says:

My answer Tammy ? A big HELL NO

  3. DogOnCrack says:

My answer is a big fat “NO” as well.
That being said, I’d never resort to the outright hatred and slander that the left has subjected Bush to.
I will, however, not hesitate to call Obama out on his crap every step of the way.

  4. marleed says:

I didn’t see the “HELL NO” option, so I had to settle for “No”. We’re the loyal (to America) opposition… not lap dogs!

  5. Ish says:

    Hello from NYC, Tammy.

You are right on. Unify? For what? And I too am sick of hearing phony “conservatives” congratulating Sheikh Hussein Obama on this “historic” event. WHAT IS HISTORIC ABOUT ELECTING AN AFROCENTRIC MARXIST???!!!

  6. HALEY says:

It’s a big, fat, definite HELL NO for me!

I thought this article was rather interesting, here’s a link for those of you interested:

  7. Shawmut says:

My answer is NO”. Actually, my answer is qualified by why should I?
After all, he has George Soros, Calypso Louie Farrakhan, Bill Ayres, Sheik Khalidi, Chris Matthews, John Murtha, John “Lurch” Kerry, more recently Bill O’Reilly and the rank and ffile Ritalin Rangers
He wants me only as an enemy; as I see it.
(Oh, yes, I should say as I ‘feel’ it in their language.)

  8. No Tammy! I will NOT unify under the ‘Great One’. Drinking the Kool-Aid is bad for your health. We have enough Zombies walking around.

  9. snowcloud says:

I can’t get behind a Trojan Horse, sorry.

  10. Pathman says:

Only if he adopts conservative values and policies. Otherwise HELL NO!

  11. STOICCAT says:

    Just a plain simple NO!

  12. Larry says:

A big FAT Oprah sized NO!

  13. DogOnCrack says:

Tammy, in addition to scrapping the phrase “my friends”, could we also ban the word “change”?

  14. OneShotWataw says:

Well, if he pulls his head out of his a** and starts acting like he’s the leader of a democratic republic (not a quasi-socialist state) yea, I’ll support him on a case by case basis. But drink the KoolAid because he’s the only one pouring – nope! I’m not holding my breath on the former. The preliminary chatter from the Obama camp seems to indicate that he’s going to surround himself with idiots. I think the writing is on the wall – like I’m really surprised.

  15. radargeek says:

If there isn’t a way to weed these fake conservatives out of the Republican party, I just don’t see how I can support the R party. I already left the D party many, many years ago. At this juncture, a third party sounds good. This nation just voted in the down right traiter as prez. You cannot get worse that this, why not break off the monopoly parties now!!!

  16. Idiot#3 says:

Unify behind what, everything my values are against? Racism, Marxism, and totalitarianism? Ignorance and tribalism?

Ever thought about what it was the American Indians did to inspire admiration we still hold for them? They refused to be slaves, chosing instead to fight and die rather than serve with heads down, whimpering. Well that’s my attitude right now.

And here’s something for B.O. to unite behind, a scarred, calloused, raised digit.

  17. Nonnie says:

I voted a big solid “no.”

This morning I sent off a small note to Governor Palin building her up and encouraging her.

  18. artgal says:

    EFF NO!!!!!

There is no effing way what whatsoever I am going to unite under Obama Robbin’ Hood. I am praying for the sake of this country that he won’t be the disaster I believe him to be; but I truly believe we are in for difficult days ahead.

    God help us.

  19. Ednamode says:

The only way I’ll unite under Obama is if he can get this really annoying Woodpecker off my house! It’s driving me crazy. Can the Messsiah please get rid of it?

I can’t unite under a guy who hangs around people who hate this country and in some cases, want it to be destroyed.

I wonder how soon until buyer’s remorse sets in!

P.S. GET THAT WOODPECKER OFF MY HOUSE!

  20. F. Bastiat says:

Ummmm… no. I don’t recall leftists uniting behind President Bush after his election. As I recall, from day one the Bush=Hitler stuff started, the allegations that he “stole” the election started, etc. He’s not my president.

  21. BearsCubs says:

Unify..no way. Support him if he (only by God’s grace)tries to govern from the middle, yes. Probably won’t happen, though. But if he fails as a president, that won’t be good for us either.

  22. wannaberocker says:

people didnt unite when jesus walked the earth. SO now the libs want us to unite under lord Obama, join hands and sing Kum Ba Yah.

I believe in what i stand for. So my answer is “Negative chief”.

  23. QB says:

That’s not constructive. Just keep voting you conscience. What are you all going to secede from the union in some sort of al-Qaeda like “cells” of disgruntled Obama-haters.

I sure don’t see anybody talking about “what a shame it is the John McCain isn’t going to be president”.

I have really got to question the motives of all this bashing. Sure, lots of people don’t like the liberal side of things…feel free. But really, this is just nuts. I mean how weak are we that we are so afraid of change for crying out loud. We lived through GWBush (barely)…it can’t get worse…even if you have to deal with ideological differences.

    Once again, get real folks.

  24. Reeb says:

NO! I will not stand in the line to follow Obama and the others off the cliff. I do not wish ill will on any person, but, don’t expect me to help him shovel the crap to the uninformed.

I will however continue to unite behind our brave women and men that are putting their lives on the line for us so the ” fat cows ” of this world can continue to speak freely. I will continue to unite behind those that want to see us safe and restore the power back to the people

I want to see Gov. Palin run for the senate. With a Mayor title, Gov title, and then a Sen title… lets see the main stream media say she is still not qualified… seeing how she will have fullfilled much more civic duty then Obama.

  25. ashleymatt says:

QB: It can get worse; we may very well be longing for the good ol’ days of W. soon.

If I have to serve under BHO as my Commander-in-Chief, I will go through the motions of repecting him.

Otherwise, I will show him the same courtesty and loyalty that the left has shown our current President.

We have had bad presidents before whom I ideologically opposed; I don’t know if we’ve ever had one who has contempt for the United States.

  26. Reeb says:

Dogoncrack makes a good point –

I will support / unite on a case by case basis… but, like I said, I will not just follow him off the cliff.

  27. ladykrystyna says:

QB, though you wouldn’t know it, I defended one of your recent posts on a different thread. The problem was it didn’t get posted due to some kind of computer gliche that happens every so often to me.

Anyway, QB, I and the others are, as we say, the Loyal Opposition. I myself will not engage in Obama Derangement Syndrome and lower myself to the level of the Left and their BDS (and their continuing PDS).

But you have to understand – after 8 years of President Bush asking for unity on even just one thing (like, oh, I don’t know, THE FREAKIN’ WAR ON TERROR), he got more than rebuffed. The looney left labeled him a war criminal and I’m sure once Obama is in, they’ll try and get him to agree to try Bush and Cheney as war criminals. I would’t doubt it. Although I seriously doubt Obama would agree.

In my other post to you I agreed that believing that Obama wants America to tank doesn’t make much sense, just like the Dr. Evils in a myriad of movies don’t make any sense in the real world – if you destroy the world, what will you rule? It’s all for drama, not reality.

So, no, I do not think Obama wants America to tank. He may want it to be more socialistic. In that, I think he’s, at best, misguided.

So I do not wish him to fail if that would mean we would all suffer. That doesn’t make any sense to me. But I don’t believe his policies will work to make us better. Sorry.

But until we get a resounding apology from the Left for 8 years of BDS, I will not just “unify” with Obama, especially, as many have said here (and you seem to have missed that), his ideologies are not mine. What I want to do (or not do) to fix America is not in line with what he wants, and at a fundamental level, including economics and the War on Terror and our general foreign policy in this world.

How can I “unify” with him? The only way I see how we can do that is to be the Loyal Opposition and every time we think he’s going to try and get passed a law that I think is damaging to this country, I will speak my mind.

If he does something I actually agree with, I will support him (like changing his mind about raising the capital gains tax or moving to the center on abortion, or actually having the cajones to stand up to the terrorists and Iran, etc.). If we get attacked and he opens up a can of whoop a$$ on our enemy, hell, he’s got my support. But if he apologizes to them for making them angry; if he sends a few scuds and that’s it, then no, sorry, no unifying there.

Unify, change, hope – these are all empty really. That’s what he got voted in for and I think people are going to be mighty disappointed.

    Obviously, I, too, voted NO.

    Cheers.

  28. helpunderdog says:

Why would I unify and make his presidency any easier – and make him a shoe-in for a second term? The Dems were one thing only, PARTISAN. They fought Bush every step of the way, fought dirty, undermined him, smeared him, lied, blamed him for their own faults. It was NASTY and UGLY. And now I’m expected to let bygones be bygones, hold hands and sing? No way!!
They set the tenor of today’s politics, let then reap what they sow.

  29. Talkin Horse says:

I echo Krystyna’s sentiments. We’ve listened 8 years of Chimpy Halliburton Bushitler, and now we’re expected to respect Obama? I’m sick to death of the double standards. Nevertheless, I do intend to be better than the people I oppose, because otherwise I may become as depraved as they are. Look at organizations that once held the moral high ground, such as the NAACP, and see how low they’ve fallen. Nietzsche gave the warning: “Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster.” It’s a problem. So I’m going to give Obama more of a chance than Bush got, for the sake of my own soul, and because I want the nation to succeed. I’m not going to bash Obama for fun. But Obama doesn’t seem to grasp the depth of the world’s evil, and so he places us at risk. Obama isn’t the enemy, but he’s the man who needs to “get it”, or we all go down. This isn’t about our political opposition or opportunistic revenge. It’s about survival, both physical survival and survival of the human spirit. Getting blown up or micromanaged by a controlling bureaucracy are not plans I’ll go along with for the sake of national unity.

  30. pat_s says:

Here’s what Kerry told his supporters after losing in 2004.

The e-mail message represented a call to arms to Democrats. At a time when many Democrats are looking inward to examine the reasons for Bush’s victory and to take stock of what they need to do to make their time in the political wilderness as short as possible, Kerry said Democrats should in no way give Bush a pass at the beginning of his second term. “This is not a time for Democrats to retreat and accommodate extremists on critical principles,” he wrote. “It is a time to stand firm.”

  31. Colocelt says:

No, I will respect him as my president and but I will fight his policies as I should as a Free American. I will be a STRONG critic when he fails, but I will not resort to the actions of many liberals when faced with getting their way. Conservatives for the large part are better sports than their counterparts.

  32. Wasilla Sue says:

    STAND Up/Behind SARAH …..
FLOOD Senator McCain’s offices with calls telling him to GET OUT AND DEFEND HIS VP PICK, after all, SHE didn’t ask for the job and then in addition, the ruin of herself and her family. These rumors are all LIES, one of them already debunked on Fox and Friends this morning. The names of the people doing this should be REVEALED AND BLACKLISTED. These people should never work in power positions in politics again. NO WONDER THE REPUBLICANS LOST, WITH THIS TYPE OF SC UM WORKING THE CAMPAIGN. And WHERE THE HE*L IS MCCAIN? Silent, just silent.

  33. ladykrystyna says:

Talkin Horse, good post. Welcome to the Loyal Opposition!

Pat, thank you for quoting that. I will use that anytime I hear someone chastise me for not drinking the Kool-Aid and “unifying”. Actually it starts to sound kind of creepy, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, doesn’t it? “Be one with us!” Ooh, I just got a shiver.

    Okay, back to reality.

I just can’t believe that they can’t hear their own hypocrisy. It really is amazing. It’s like, forget how we bashed your guy (and I mean BASHED him; it was disgusting!), please come play with us. OMG, maybe liberalism really is a mental disease!

We are the LOYAL OPPOSITION and that’s as far as it will go. Obama has yet to earn my respect.

    Cheers.

  34. snowcloud says:

AshleyMatt, I agree. I can’t believe the American people were so stupid as to elect a man who hates our coutry and all it stands for. I am shocked.

  35. snowcloud says:

  36. QB says:

    Ladykrystyna

I get what you are saying. You have said it very well…the various “Derangement Syndromes”…that’s great. That’s what is scaring me about these posts. I am not suggesting that things that we don’t like will not happen (taxes and whatnot). I just would like to see constructive conversation…sort of like “A Conservative’s Guide to Living with a Liberal President” kind of thing. I worry about gun control…the 2nd Ammendment people (of which I am certainly one) are freaking out. No, Obama is not friend of the NRA that’s for sure. But he is going to have to get past the 2nd Ammendment and Heller…that’ll be tough. So I support your views. I am not sure what I think about this change but I do think freaking out about it is just not going to be good for anybody. I am not even saying give the guy a chance, if there were an election tomorrow, vote against him again if you could. Just let’s all stay calm, vote our conscience at every opportunity, sign every petition that supports you moral and political views, write to you congressman, heck…make yourself a picket sign for crying out loud…just don’t freak out and let yourself thing that the world or the USA is going to end because we’ve elected somebody quite a bit left of center. Just reason…that’s all I am looking for here.

  37. ladykrystyna says:

QB, I get what you are saying. Perhaps you are more “serene” about it than rest of us are, but I don’t think what you are saying and what they are saying are that much different. Anyone else want to clarify their positions?

BTW, did you vote Yes on unifying. Your choice, of course, but if you did, that makes me question how “Loyal” of an Opposition you are going to be. Loyal, that is, to conservatism, if you are a conservative.

That’s all anyone else is saying. Yes, some are a little bit more, let’s say, “worried” than others. But I think that will pass, especially if the terrorists decide not to test us and if the economy really doesn’t look like the late 70s (or worse).

But, again, I say, “unifying” – which is the subject of this thread – is not what we need right now. Loyal (and respectful) Opposition is what we need, and I haven’t heard any different, at least on this site. Townhall – different story.

    Cheers.

  40. jj says:

    No f’n way.

We will not go blindly into the night.

  41. ladykrystyna says:

Okay, another way to look at this.

See The Corner at National Review Online. I have no idea how to set up a link here, so do forgive me.

The latest post (like in the last 15 mintues) links to a website that is entitled something like From 52 to 48 and shows offers of unity from those that voted for the winner.

It was, perhaps, a bit syrupy. And I know some of us are thinking it’s all a bit hypocritical and disengenous.

However, the eyes are the window to the soul, and in pictures I can tell that these were not people who hated Bush or suffered from BDS. They just seem to be honest folk who are Democrats. And their sentiments reminded me of 9/11 and the days after when we really were united, if not in ideology, than in love of Country.

Remember, the fringe always seems to get the most attention, and that includes the fringe from BOTH sides.

It’s the rest of us who are more towards the center, more reasonable, more willing to have an honest debate, that don’t usually get a voice.

So I say to those people (and only those people) – thank you for your kind words. To those that stated that they would listen to our side, I hope you keep that promise and we will hold you to that promise.

To the non-fringe on both sides – we must all be pretty tired of the fringe. We need to make our voices be heard so that when we do debate the issues, as we should, it is a reasonable, healthy debate that results in an outcome that is the best thing for the country, rather than for either party. Because if you reason out your decisions based on Country First, you are more apt to come up with a better, more honest decision than Party First.

Because your offers of unity mean nothing if you will not stamp out the fringe on your side as I have seen plenty do on OUR side. We all have to do what the “moderate” Muslims DON’T do – slap down that fringe, however much a minority it might be and show each other and the rest of the world that we are not a bunch of squabbling children, but a family that knows how to work together to do the best we can for our country.

Remember McCain’s call – Country First. He may have lost, but his mantra is even better than “Hope and Change” because it reminds us all, Red or Blue to remember our COUNTRY first before trying to one up the other guy.

    Cheers.

  42. ladykrystyna says:

BTW, Please do not take my last post to mean that I agree with “unifying” in the way that many on the Left are now talking about.

I still voted No on the Poll and I stand by that.

I’m talking about the part where we don’t start suffering from ODS; that we learn to lose gracefully, that we get ready for the fight we will have, but that we will fight fairly, that we will engage in reasonable and healthy debate to get what we want, rather than the temper tantrums that so often are displayed on the Left.

In other words, if you run into a 52 person, give them a chance to show that they are honest in their desire to engage in healthy debate.

I think many of you who are Christians will understand what I am saying – WWJD? He would treat all with respect FIRST before engaging in any kind of vitriol. Quite frankly, I like the way our more tempered talk show hosts handle it: they try to engage in the conversation rationally, and when it becomes vitriolic, the conversation is terminated. Without yelling or screaming by the host. Just “click”.

It’s kind of like handling your children – you look more reasonable and put together if you are not having a ranting argument with your 4 year old. It’s the 4 year old that looks stupid having his/her temper tantrum in the middle of Sears, not you if you are calm and dealing with the situation rationally.

See, I’m not sure if the average American really understood how looney the Left fringe was and how much they took over. I think they thought it would just pass or it wouldn’t be “that bad”. I don’t think they are right. But by remaining reasonable and ready for a healthy debate, we show the rest of America how nutty the Left Fringe can really be, and Americans will not be happy and in 4 years, if everything is in the crapper, then we can get voted in again and show them how it’s really done!

    Cheers.

  43. snowcloud says:

Wasilla Sue, I took your advice and I sent McCain a fax telling him what you suggested. You are 100% correct!!

  44. As Ann Coulter put it so succintly –

“For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.”

  45. girlsgotrhythm says:

  46. LtDan says:

  47. daredevilaccordian says:

I will cross my fingers and toes that I will be surprised, but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t feel particularly harmonious about the agenda that I voted against, so unity is a hilarious concept. Umm, NO, Barry, no. I will, however, hope that our country will come out of this in one piece, that’s the kind of unity I am hoping for.

And just a little head start on his new Lord of Staff, Rahm E…

    http://www.ontheissues.org/IL/Rahm_Emanuel.htm

    Quotes by Rahm…

    (prior to the election)

“This is going to test whether moderate Republicans are really moderate. There are a ton of people who will have a day of reckoning coming.”

“The Republican Congress is about to slash more than $50 billion from investments in our children’s future in health care and education. And yet, because of Republican priorities, they are going to actually add $20 billion to our budget deficit. … Only in a Republican Congress.”

“When the Speaker’s gavel comes down, it’s intended to open the People’s House, and lately it’s looking like the Auction House, … Whether it’s an energy bill that gives more $8 billion to the oil and gas interests while oil’s at $64 a barrel, whether it’s a corporate tax bill solving a $5 billion problem with a $150 billion solution, whether it’s a pharmaceutical, prescription drug bill where the industry gave $132 million and walked away with $135 billion in additional profits.”

“The fact is, Bush’s war policy has failed. It’s failed! Who better to say so than Jack Murtha?”

  48. daredevilaccordian says:

Just to clarify – these quotes are from past years and not specific to this election…

  51. dejavu says:

Absolutely not. I didn’t support him pre-election because he isn’t honest, he hangs around with radicals and terrorists, he doesn’t care about anyone except himself (he certainly hasnt spread his own personal wealth to his own family!!!He has an aunt living in poverty in the US, illegally.) Only in the US can you have no experience doing anything, have never accomplished anything, never lead anything, he has never even led a church choir, he cant balance his own checkbook, and be elected President. I find that incredulous. When you compare his lack of accomplishments with John McCain’s incredible 50 year service to our country it seems to me it would be a no brainer. I won’t support him after the election for the very same reasons. I agree we should show our new President the same respect and courtesy the liberals showed our current President!

  52. toaster lover says:

Respecting the office doesn’t mean liking or agreeing with the person holding that office. I, for one, intend to criticize and fight every lefty proposal he makes. However I refuse to descend into the frothing blind hatred demonstrated by the left these past 8 years. I will do what I’ve always done: civilly stick to my guns and do my part to encourage civil political discourse by example.
