Cow Escapes Slaugtherhouse, Persuades Famous Radio/TV Personality To Become Vegetarian.

Bella the cow was on her way to the slaughterhouse when the hauler driver lost control and crashed. Today Bella lives in pastoral bliss with her son, Mr. Rogers. A heartwarming tale that contrasts the ugly cruelty endured by commercial livestock and the beauty of human compassion.

If you missed today’s broadcast, DO NOT miss the podcast.

She was one of 26 cows in a hauler that overturned after its driver lost control in the early hours of July 22, 2010. Of the dozen cows that got loose in the moments following the accident, all but five were recovered and completed their journey to a Milwaukee slaughterhouse.

Bella is the luckiest of that bunch. One cow was hit by a semi-truck. Others were shot or found dead near the accident site. One disappeared.

After SASHA got permission to take custody of any at-large cows, Bella, a brown-and-white Holstein, remained elusive. SASHA staff received several tips that did not pan out, but eventually volunteers lured her into a barn, and she was transported to the sanctuary, which is near Ann Arbor, after a month on the lam.

Most people don’t think about the animals that are used for food, Earle said. But once in a while a story causes people to see their relationship with farm animals in a differently light, however briefly.

We hope to have at least one Cow Tale every Wednesday. If you come across a mooving (couldn’t resist) cow tale, let me know. “pats -at- tammybruce.com”

    “…and One Disappeared…” (Cue Mark Snow X-Files theme…)

The Blogosphere is rife with conspirancy theories about the, ahem, “Missing Bovine”, let’s name it Agent Zero for the time being. One rumor is that Agent Zero has been seen, in the background, of every candid digital camera shot of every family visiting Disneyworld who only notice when they post their vacation photos on their Facebook page. Also, its rumored to have be seen water skiing in Aruba. “The Word” is that NBC Dateline producers are researching trying to find if there’s a Madoff angle, and if it has stashes of cash and diamonds in countries that have no extradition treaty with the US. And finally, MI-6 and Interpol have put Agent Zero on their watch list. We’re waiting for a statement from Hillary about this International Bovine of Mystery.

We’ll update when we know more.

What was that diagnosis that Tammy got for her IBS? Anyone know the name? The bacteria that stays in the small intestines? Drugs or procedure to monitor this problem? I know some people who have the same symptoms Tammy explained today on her live show.

    • Tammy says:

Hey radargeek, it’s called “Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth.” I’m going to violate my own ‘no links’ rule so forgive me but I want you to have the info:

      http://www.medicinenet.com/small_intestinal_bacterial_overgrowth/article.htm

We’re pretty sure my issue started with the bleeding ulcer last year and the PPI (Nexium) which was used to successfully treat it. They’re seeing more PPI’s being involved in the prevalence of SIBO. Also, previous food poisonings play a role, especially ones where you stay sick for days and don’t vomit, allowing the bacteria to stay around and move in. As Imentioned on the show there’s a a growing sense that Irritable Bowel Syndrome may in fact really be this, which is great news because this is curable with antibiotics. I had the Hydrogen Breath Test for the diagnosis. Good luck!

Pat, love reading your work…. I need help with the log in, can you help me out? I know how to log into Tammy, and I know how to log into wordpress. I cannot get back to Tammy’s page when I log into wordpress…. I know, I am a geezer, most of what I have learned has been self taught, from my children, or helpful people. If I search around Tammy’s site, I lose my log in at wordpress. What am I doing wrong?

Fantastic informational show yesterday… seriously…. I have been struggling with the stomach issue for awhile now.
