That’s the idea of Marc Siwak, a Michigan resident. He envisions hiring actors to play brain-eating zombies attacking paying customers. It isn’t an original theme. The Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse is scheduled to open September 28th. It’s just much more pathetic in Detroit. It is pretty close to what actually happened to that city.
Idea for Detroit zombie theme park catches some attention
He said the park is inspired by the Heidelberg Project and would create jobs, and even in maintaining a ruined look, buildings would be fixed up and made safe.
The Heidelberg Project is another example of what the living dead are doing in Detroit.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

I admire the spirit, but the result is – well – stupid. Although tacky may be a better word. But then there’s the old Jean Shepherd term, slob art. Yea! That’s it.
Yes, there’s a weird thrill to that sort of environment. If you Google the term “ruin porn”, you’ll find endless references to Detroit. Might as well turn a liability into an asset.
It isn’t a Zombie Theme Park already ?
I may never understand why one of my best friends moved back to Detroit…I’ll REALLY never understand why her partner’s family is so freakin’ liberal.
It is a Zombie town already…Has been since I peeled rubber out of there in 1967..Woof..Bye D’town..I don’t miss you
Zombies in New Fallujah? How novel.
There’s a feel of turning a lemon into lemonade with this. I liked that spirit. There was also a sense of taking detritus and making something organized out of it, exercising a semblance of control over one’s environment.
One of the themes they talked about is they used to wait for the government promises to come to fruition, and they never did. So this guy decided to do something himself. That’s a good example to others. However, I got the distinct impression that this is what’s materialized because this is the best that the community could do. There’s creativity, but little knowledge, and little skill. That’s not a recipe for economic prosperity, or a modern civilization. Most artists know that they can’t just live off of their art. Few artists are fortunate enough to be able to do that.
When the guy mentioned that “visionaries have come from here,” I didn’t agree with that, but perhaps I’m ignorant. I thought about past artists from Detroit. One that came to mind was the singing group The Spinners. A lot of good hits from them in the 70s.
