A Pogrom in Brooklyn
by Shifra on August 28, 2012**A Post By Shifra** pogrom NOUN: An organized, often officially encouraged massacre or persecution of a minority group, especially one conducted against Jews. In 1991, I was working as a staff psychologist in a Brooklyn hospital. Some said the hospital was in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Others said it was in Prospect Heights. I always said it was just a stone’s throw from Crown Heights (well, more like a three-minute ride away.) Brooklyn is funny that way; in some places, you could be in one neighborhood, then you walk down a few blocks, and suddenly, you are in a different neighborhood. As a staff member, I had parking privileges in the staff parking lot. At the beginning of every month, I would go...

Rove, Trippi Break Down Pre-Convention Electoral Map
by Tammy on August 27, 2012Here’s this week’s assessment. The biggest news? Wisconsin moves from Lean Obama to Toss-up, plus New Mexico moves from Lean Obama to Obama. Plus Trippi notes that it appears Ohio has moved into play for Romney. Via Fox and RCP. Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com Via Rove. Mitt Romney heads to the Republican Convention with his “safe” and “lean” Electoral College votes unchanged at 108 and 74, respectively, while Barack Obama’s count shifted to 177 “safe” and 70 “lean.” New Mexico switched to “safe Obama” for now, and, as predicted last week, Wisconsin moved to the “toss up” column and continues to strengthen for the Romney/Ryan ticket. There are seven states (109 EC votes) that are considered “toss up,”...

Wonderful! Mars Curiosity Rover Landing Site Named For Ray Bradbury
by Tammy on August 24, 2012We were blessed to have him with us. Ray Bradbury reminds us of the uniqueness of the individual and the remarkable power of human imagination and curiosity. Via the Guardian. Douglas Adams had an asteroid named after one of his characters; now the late Ray Bradbury has lent his name to the spot where Nasa’s rover Curiosity landed on Mars. Nasa announced yesterday – which would have been Bradbury’s 92nd birthday – that the landing site of Curiosity was now called Bradbury Landing, in honour of the science fiction author who died earlier this year. The Curiosity team tweeted: “In tribute, I dedicate my landing spot on Mars to you, Ray Bradbury. Greetings from Bradbury Landing!”, also sharing a picture...

Video: Ann Romney–A Woman Who’s *Always* Been Proud of Her Country
by Tammy on August 24, 2012From a campaign stop today in Michigan, her home state. Just compare Mrs. Romney’s heart-felt expression of appreciation and commitment to our country to the tripe we saw from Michelle Antoinette in 2008 when she said “For the first time in my adult lifetime I’m proud of my country.” Of all the things we can look forward to in January 2013, I am most thrilled about us having a First Couple who love this country as much as we do. This is a good sense of what we can expect from Mrs. Romney during her speech at the convention and what makes her so important to the campaign. Other good news–it now looks that the campaign is seriously considering moving...
