Global Warming Rally in Colorado Postponed Because… Monster Snowstorm
by Shifra on May 1, 2017Pic HT @MDempseyCO Do Climate Change/Global Warming Hysterics, er, environmentalists, know the word i-r-o-n-y? Via Breitbart. A rally in Colorado Springs designed to warn people of the effects of climate change and global warming was postponed this weekend after a snowstorm made it too risky to proceed. The event, organized by local environmentalist group 350 Colorado Springs, was also a protest against the Trump administration’s policies on climate change. However, the march was postponed until Sunday after weather forecasters predicted heavy snowfall and possible blizzards. “Sometimes Mother Nature throws you a curveball! We know we aren’t in the business of risking anyone’s safety. Dangerous conditions and wet heavy snow in the forecast for tomorrow,” the group wrote on their Facebook...

Moonbat Meltdown Over Former WSJ Journalist Bret Stephens’ First NYT Column
by Shifra on April 30, 2017It mattered little to the climate-change hysterics that Stephens actually agreed with them that climate change is real and man-made. But he dared to question some of the research, and got trashed with profanity-laced tweets from Leftist journalists. You can view tweets here, via Twitchy, if you are so inclined. Because nothing says “intelligent argument” like a bunch of “f-bombs.” Via NewsBusters. On Friday (appearing in Saturday’s print edition), the New York Times published its first column by Bret Stephens, the former Wall Street Journal columnist recently hired as a “conservative” voice. Its theme was that the political “hyperbole” about climate change doesn’t match the underlying science — even if one trusts the underlying science. That alone was enough to...

Leftist Mag Compares Carbon Dioxide to Syrian Gas Attack
by Shifra on April 20, 2017The writer of the column at The Nation is a professor at the University of Michigan. Not. Kidding. Via Washington Examiner. ….The Nation published an article Tuesday that used the recent gas attacks in Syria, which claimed the lives of approximately 70 people, including children, as an excuse to attack President Donald Trump over the issue of climate change. The article, titled “The Other Poison Gas Killing Syrians: Carbon Dioxide Emissions,” was written by University of Michigan professor Juan Cole…. “If Trump and his cronies really cared about children killed by noxious gases, they wouldn’t be trying to spew ever more CO2 into the atmosphere,” the story begins. It just gets worse from there. “The pictures of suffering children, Trump...

Sen. Sanders (Moonbat-Vt): Trump’s Focus on Jobs, Not Climate Change, Is Stupid
by Shifra on March 31, 2017Yeah, who cares about jobs, when we can stop the oceans from rising, er, save the polar bears, er, stop extreme weather, er… Whatever… Via Free Beacon. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) argued on Thursday that President Donald Trump’s decision to prioritize jobs over climate change with his new executive order is “a nonsensical and stupid and dangerous approach.” Sanders was responding to CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer’s characterization of Trump’s new executive order on energy. Blitzer said that Trump’s order would “curb the federal government’s enforcement of climate regulations by putting American jobs above addressing climate change.” “Wolf, that is such a nonsensical, and stupid, and dangerous approach. It’s almost indescribable,” Sanders said…. 9 Things You Need To Know About...

More Lib Hysteria: ‘Global Warming’ Could Cause Diabetes
by Shifra on March 23, 2017The study being cited is from a Ph.D. thesis in the Netherlands. However, a basic rule of research is the following: Correlation does not prove causation For example, if you ask 1,000 people with chronic back pain if they prefer brushing their teeth with Crest or with Colgate, and you then determine that 95% of them prefer Colgate, you have a very strong correlation. However, can you then conclude that brushing one’s teeth with Colgate causes chronic back pain? Um…no. Via Daily Caller. The media is touting a new study claiming global warming could be, at least in part, to blame for the “diabetes epidemic” sweeping the globe. “When it gets warmer, there is higher incidence of diabetes,” Lisanne Blauw,...

‘Climate Change’ Hysteria, er, Warning: The Animals May Be Shrinking!
by Shifra on March 16, 2017Wasn’t this a 1950’s movie, ‘The Incredible Shrinking Animals’ ? Or something. Via Telegraph. Animals could start shrinking because of global warming, scientists have predicted, after discovering that mammals became ‘dwarfed’ in a similar episode of climate change 50 million years ago. Paleontologists discovered the fossil teeth belonging to an early ancestor of modern horses as well as a rabbit-sized hoofed mammal. The teeth revealed that during Eocene Thermal Maximum 2, a warming event of around 3C that occurred approximately 53.7 million years ago, the animals shrank in size by 14 per cent…. “This suggests that dwarfing will be a likely natural response of some mammals to future global warming.”

Moonbat Environmentalists Target Christmas Lights… And Wrapping Paper
by Shifra on December 27, 2016If you decorated your home with lights, or used wrapping paper for your gifts, the Climate Change Science-Deniers, er, environmentalists, want you to know that you are ruining the planet! Or, something. Via Daily Caller. Environmentalists are really worried that your home’s Christmas lights will ruin the planet. They worry that both the manufacturing processes of the lights and the electricity needed to power them will generate lots of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. They worry that the lights are manufactured in China and thus the amount of CO2 emissions generated during their construction is effectively unknowable…. “Holiday lights result in tons of wasted energy each year,” the environmentalist website GreenerIdeal.com opined earlier this month.“Producing all this energy means more carbon...

WaPo: Electoral College Thwarts Our Ability… To Fight ‘Global Warming’
by Shifra on December 22, 2016Looks like the Democrats’ “Russians did it” line is getting old, so now they can focus their rage on the “racist” Electoral College as the source of their misery. Via Daily Caller. The Washington Post blamed the Electoral College for making so-called man-made global warming nearly impossible to “thwart.” The last two U.S. presidents who lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College have actively worked against efforts to end global warming, Todd Cort, the co-director of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, wrote Monday in an editorial for The Washington Post…. Former President George W. Bush’s victory set the fight against climate change back several years…because it kept Nobel Prize winner and former Vice President Al...

Feds Offer Tips for Fighting “Climate Change” On Thanksgiving
by Shifra on November 22, 2016Here’s another tip: Obama, Pelosi, Howard Dean and all other Dems ranting about the election should just stuff their faces with pie on Thanksgiving. Less talking, less CO2, less “Climate Change.” You’re welcome. Via Washington Examiner. The federal government is worried that America is too stressed out to deal with Thanksgiving dinner safely so at least two departments have entered to help everybody live through the uniquely American holiday while also curbing global warming…. USDA is offering tips to help cooks win applause. Or, as they blogged Monday, “To avoid making everyone at the table sick, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service offers five tips for a food safe Thanksgiving.” Among them: Don’t wash the bird...

Lib Judge: Teenagers Have Constitutional Right to ‘Stable Environment,’ Can Sue Over Carbon Emissions
by Shifra on November 17, 2016Gosh, I must have missed the section in the Constitution that guarantees teenagers the right to have low levels of carbon emissions in the atmosphere. Judge Aiken was appointed by Bill Clinton. And if Hillary had won, we would have been subjected to much more of this judicial idiocy. Yes, we really dodged a bullet last week. Via Breitbart. A liberal federal district judge held on Nov. 10 that teenagers have a fundamental right to a “stable environment” and can sue for a court order to change the level of carbon emissions that humans emit into the atmosphere. Seeking a federal court “to declare the United States’ current environmental policy infringes their fundamental rights” to a natural environment that is...

John Kerry’s ‘Climate Change’ Trip Produces As Much CO2 as One Person in a Year
by Shifra on November 14, 2016The Trump win means we will finally have competent, talented people in our government. Goodbye, Lurch. Via CNS News. Secretary of State John Kerry winged his way Monday from New Zealand to the Middle East on the next leg of what may be his longest trip yet, a journey during which America’s top diplomat will account for roughly 16.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. That’s more or less the amount of CO2 – one of the key “greenhouse gases” blamed for global warming – produced by the average American in a full year, according to World Bank data…. An imprecise calculation of the route Kerry is taking on this trip indicates he will travel around 35,300 miles, which would make...

NBC ‘Journalist’ Thinks Obama’s Climate Deal Is ‘Designed to Stop’ Storms Like Hurricane Matthew
by Shifra on October 6, 2016Remember when Obama proclaimed: “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” And we all had a good laugh. Well, looks like Ron Allen actually fell for that line. Via NewsBusters. President Barack Obama spoke to reporters on Wednesday afternoon on the Paris climate change agreement and, almost on cue, NBC’s Ron Allen connected global warming to Hurricane Matthew set to bear down on the Bahamas, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. Speaking on MSNBC Live to host Kate Snow, Allen first gushed about how the President “believes so deeply in protecting the environment” that the deal marks “one of the most significant aspects of his legacy” before bringing in...

Obama: We Have Conversations About Climate Change in the Situation Room
by Shifra on September 16, 2016Isn’t the Situation Room a place where the White House convenes with generals and national security advisers to address serious security matters? Oh wait, John Kerry says climate change is as great a threat to our national security as the threat of terrorism. Never mind. Via CNS News. Speaking…at the State Department at the “2016 Our Ocean Conference,” President Barack Obama said that a “healthier planet” is vital to U.S. “national security” and that he has conversations about climate change “in the Situation Room.” “But one thing that we all owe to [Secretary of State] John [Kerry] is his conviction that a healthier ocean and a healthier planet are about more than just our environment; they are also vital to...

Colorado U. Bans Climate Change Debate on Online Forums
by Shifra on September 7, 2016Oh good: More material for the sequel to Tammy’s 2001 book ‘The New Thought Police: Inside the Left’s Assault on Free Speech and Free Minds’ Via Breitbart. In the midst of national debates concerning free speech on college campuses, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has opted to clamp down on students who challenge the reigning orthodoxy regarding manmade global warming. Last week, three professors co-teaching a course titled “Medical Humanities in the Digital Age” emailed a statement to all students informing them that anthropogenic climate change is not up for debate in their course…. The professors, backed by University Communications Director Tom Hutton, said that the ban on debate even extends to discussion among students in the online...

State Dept Spends $396K For Climate Change Competition… In Morocco
by Shifra on August 12, 2016Michelle Obama recently pledged $100M of U.S. tax dollars to educate Moroccan girls. And now, this: Via Free Beacon. The State Department is spending almost $400,000 for a climate change competition in Morocco. The agency said it is “aggressively” fighting climate change and is seeking to influence green energy policy in the North African country. “Morocco and the U.S. share a strong commitment to combatting climate change which they are tackling aggressively at the international, national, and local levels,” according to a grant announcement. “The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) seeks to highlight this shared commitment by driving policy and commercial innovation through a Green Growth Climate Challenge.”…. The contest will help Morocco break down barriers...
