Steve Jobs’ Moving Stanford Commencement Speech On Mortality
by Tammy on October 6, 2011The best 15 minutes you’ll spend. Moving and relevant as we all contemplate what the heck it is we’re doing and what makes our lives what they are. “…Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary…”

Mad Men And Women On TV
by Pat_S on September 17, 2011On Friday Tammy talked about the retro portrayal of women in the upcoming TV season. If you think American women have a complaint over the new Charlie’s Angels or Pan Am, think of the women in China. The Chinese TV talent show Super Girl featuring female singing contestants ran afoul of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. The popular show will be replaced by shows that “provide practical information for housework” China media watchdog pulls smash-hit talent show “Hunan Satellite Television obeys the state watchdog’s decision and will not hold similar talent shows next year,” he was quoted as saying. “Instead, the channel will air programmes that promote moral ethics, public safety and provide practical information for housework.”...

Special Tammy Speech Selection: Florida State University 2004
by Tammy on September 1, 2011Since there will be no Tammy Radio today as a result my flying to Des Moines for the Tea Party rally, I thought I’d bring this speech of mine to your attention and hope you enjoy it. It’s a 2004 speech at FSU at Tallahassee. Of all the lectures and presentations I’ve given I am particularly proud of this one, and am honored to say it’s a favorite of Tammy readers and listeners as well. I was invited by FSU to speak about how conservative ideals benefit women, blacks, gays and all minorities. The room has about 200 people in it, and you’ll see the rather lukewarm reception I received at the beginning. The room was, I must say, a...

Andrew Breitbart Catches Another One
by Tammy on June 7, 2011It’s Bad Guy Weiner everywhere we look, but the real story is Good Guy Andrew Breitbart (again) and how the interwebtubes allow said Good Guys to prevail. The Lamestream Media is now going to have a hard time ignoring or dismissing Andrew–he has used the web to take down a variety of hypocritical or corrupt liberal footsoldiers–including ACORN, Vivian Schiller of NPR (who, btw, was hired a few days ago by NBC), Helen Thomas, and now Weiner. CNN has (no doubt begrudgingly) done a piece on Andrew referring to him as a “gadfly.” Heh. Some gadfly. We all owe a big Thank You to Andrew for being out there and willing to get in the left’s ugly face. Perhaps it’s...

Abuse of Handicap Parking
by Maynard on May 23, 2011A post by Maynard. This isn’t an “important” story, but it’s revelatory. In a small way, the abuse of handicap parking, and government’s failing efforts to address the problem, exemplify our cultural malaise. When the responsibility for compassion is transferred from human beings to bureaucracies, the result is systematic dysfunction and misery. You know the rules. People with handicap placards get convenient parking places and they don’t have to pay for metered parking. We all understand this and are generally sympathetic. From the Los Angeles Times: “Fraudulent use of disabled parking placards explodes in last decade”. The key points: First, an ever-growing segment of the public claims handicapped status: California, which has 24 million licensed drivers, will issue 2.1 million...

Guest Blog: The bin Laden Mission & Geronimo–An American Indian Perspective
by Tammy on May 6, 2011When the news broke about the bin Laden raid and I heard the code for the mission and enemy was “Geronimo” my initial reaction was shock. You all know my background and core of my work–which includes exposing the liberal and government effort to oppress, suppress and control the power of the individual through such tactics as political correctness and Thought Policing. While the use of political correctness in itself is dangerous liberal trope designed to silence you, it’s important we not dismiss legitimate concerns because of attempts by the left to manipulate our decency for their depraved benefit. The legitimate point here is the assignment of the name of a revered American Indian to the world’s most wanted terrorist...

Scrooge Reconsidered
by Maynard on December 23, 2010Maynard contemplates whether Ebenezer Scrooge got a bad rap ‘Tis the season in which all good Americans are required by custom and law to view at least one dramatic presentation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. And I enjoy discovering new interpretations (this year I saw the 1984 version with George C. Scott). But, as time passes, I find myself becoming more and more sympathetic to the unreformed Mr. Scrooge. Consider how Scrooge exemplifies all that is good and admirable: Scrooge the Tolerant and Scrooge the Diverse: Scrooge faces coercive pressure to fall into line and celebrate like everyone else. Scrooge alone is tolerant of diversity. “You keep Christmas in your way. And I’ll keep it in mine.” What reasonable person...

‘Repurpose’ (Triage) Begins In Detroit
by Pat_S on December 13, 2010A post by Pat Detroit wants to make it clear the city will still be 139 square miles. It isn’t a matter of re-sizing, it’s, ah, shall we say repurposing. Some sections of the city will have no civilized purpose at all. Less Than a Full-Service City More than 20% of Detroit’s 139 square miles could go without key municipal services under a new plan being developed for the city, with as few as seven neighborhoods seen as meriting the city’s full resources. Those details, outlined by Detroit planning officials this week, offer the clearest picture yet of how Mayor Dave Bing intends to execute what has become his signature program: reconfiguring Detroit to reflect its declining population and fiscal...

CALL 800-868-3407, text word VOTE to 3407 (AT&T only),and vote ONLINE www.abc.go.com** As you all know “Operation Bristol” was a fun, simple reminder for all “Dancing with the Stars” Bristol Palin fans that it was time to vote. But that is now changing due to the increasing attacks against Bristol, which escalated to an obscene point on Friday when Bristol received a threatening letter containing a white...

Dude, This is Sooooo Deep
by Pat_S on October 30, 2010A post by Pat “So what exactly was this?” he asked as the rally wound down. “I can’t control what people think this was, I can only tell you my intentions. This was not a rally to ridicule people of faith or people of activism, or to look down our noses at the heartland or passionate argument, or to suggest that times are not difficult and we have nothing to fear. They are and we do.” That was Jon Stewart talking about the tragic comedy Rally for Sanity or whatever. Well here’s what I think it was. It was a liberal wake for Hope and Change. Liberals love to describe their motives in laudatory grandiose terms and they never think...

Goodman Goes Playboy
by Maynard on October 11, 2010A sleazy, rambling post by Maynard about the degradation of American culture; which nevertheless clings to a lifeline of humor Okay, today I’m posting sleaze. This isn’t the same as trash, or at least that’s my opinion. But I’m somewhere in the borderland between PG-13 and R. If this concerns you, then read no further.

It’s Not His Father’s Anti-Colonialism—D’Souza Way Off
by Pat_S on September 19, 2010A post by Pat The Left needs no proof that opposition to Barack Obama is based in racism. It is self-evident to them that those right-wingers are ipso facto bigotted jingoists. Yet, apparently the right-wingers need constant reminding in order to maintain their prejudice. This usually happens, according to the Left, in the form of codes. The latest coded message comes from Dinesh D’Souza in Forbes magazine. D’Souza’s theory is that Obama was imbued with his Kenyan father’s anti-colonialism. This singular motivator explains what D’Souza characterizes as Obama’s “bizarre” policy-making. The Left reads the Forbes article as intellectualizing racism. Kenya is in Africa where black people live and that’s what it’s really all about, isn’t it? It is stigmatizing Obama...

The Snazzy Napper – Privacy in a
by Pat_S on August 24, 2010BurqaBagA post by Pat Use it in the car! Use it on the bus! Use it on the train! Use it on an airplane! It’s like privacy in a bag. That’s how it’s being sold. No stigma attached to covering up like this in public. It’s practical and fun. The Snazzy Napper has been getting a lot of attention after CNN ran a story about it. It is the creation of Dr. Margaret Wilson who came up with the idea after having to put a jacket over herself to catch a few winks on a plane. With the Snazzy Napper, “they don’t have to look at you with your mouth open while you sleep”. Right, they’ll be looking at you...

Woman Goes Nuts When Denied McNuggets
by Pat_S on August 10, 2010A post by Pat A woman went into a rage because she wanted McNuggets but couldn’t get them because they were serving breakfast only. The incident happened months ago. Video is now available. Some people get very upset over special orders.
