Last week's Congressional hearings revealed Lerner's emails in which she said, “I was cautioning folks about email and how we have several occasions where Congress has asked for emails and there has been an electronic search for responsive emails – so we need to be cautious about what we say in emails.” She goes on to inquire about whether office chat records were maintained, and was informed that they could be but the feature to do so was disabled. Her reply: “Perfect.” This is consistent with awareness that her activities were criminal, and must be concealed.
