The Stupid Begins to Hurt: New England Utility Rates Soar

When you phase out your functional energy infrastructure in favor of unicorn snot, and then get hit with a cold snap (known in some circles as “winter”), guess what happens? Prices through the roof, and emergency measures that either involve freezing or are much dirtier than a normal (non-unicorn-based) supply.

By the way, I would love to see a unicorn-powered world, to the extent that this can be realistically accomplished. But these projects have got to be managed by engineers and accountants if they're to do any real-world good. The political projects merely pay off cronies and waste the public treasure and give ignorant loudmouth bigwigs a photo op.

As for us, down here in Round Rock, Texas we’re paying $.10(average), “The average rate is based on 1,000 kWh of usage and includes the energy rate($.0833), applicable monthly customer charges and any recurring TDU charges.”

A tent pitched inside a house with a down comforter over it and an opening for fresh air can be toasty with heat from a candle, how green and self-righteous is that?
