Can You Hear Me Now? Obama Admin Collecting Millions of Verizon Phone Records
by Patricia on June 6, 2013At this point nothing should surprise us. The DOJ snooping into the phone records of AP reporters and now a report that the NSA is collecting records of millions of Verizon customers. Let’s add this to the growing list of attacks on our Freedom. The Patriot Act allows for collection of suspicious phone records to defend us; not for this kind of over-reach so typical of the Obama Administration. From The Guardian: The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April. The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on...

Tammy’s Collection of Dispatches from Bletchley Park
by Tammy on June 4, 2013Here are my reports from Bletchley Park, the historic site of secret British codebreaking activities during WWII and birthplace of the modern computer. The first one is a bit of the guide’s lecture on Enigma, the German code machine, so the sound isn’t great but he gives a good history of the device and how it worked. The other two are interviews about their work there. I have to tell you, it’s pretty neat to stand where Churchill stood and to be in the rooms where all this history was made. Today, we cross the channel and visit the D-Day beaches! TO see what our troops saw as they approached the landing will be truly awe-inspiring. We have 3 of...

American Patriot Citizens Testify About Being Targeted By IRS
by Patricia on June 4, 2013The Citizens that testified this morning before the House Committee on the IRS Targeting of Conservatives are great American Patriots, standing up for everything that makes our country that “shining city upon a hill”. They prove that it IS worth the fight and we CAN win to save this great nation for generations to come. I checked out the MSM sites and as expected had to search for any mention on this testimony today. It is up to each of us to make sure the information gets out there; to our families, our neighbors, and our friends. (from left to right): Mr. Kevin Kookogey, Founder and President, Linchpins of Liberty; Ms. Diane Belsom, Laurens County Tea Party; Mr. John Eastman,...

Shifra Weighs In on Chris Christie’s Presidential Aspirations
by Shifra on June 4, 2013I don’t usually pay much attention to NJ politics, as I am usually entertained enough by the characters and clowns here in NY. However, something about this article caught my eye: via abcNews: Christie Pounds the Airwaves Against Opponent, Despite Huge Lead in Gubernatorial Campaign New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is leading his gubernatorial opponent, state Sen. Barbara Buono,by more than 30 points, but that hasn’t stopped him from bombarding the airwaves with ads, including negative ones attacking Buono, and spending almost $4.5 million…. Christie is running five ads, including two negative ones, which try to paint Buono as in lockstep with former Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, and accuse her of raising taxes and fees. Corzine lost to Christie...

China to Buy Smithfield Foods? Someone Call Paula Deen!
by Patricia on June 3, 2013Smithfield was founded in 1936 as a meat-packing plant in Virginia; it is currently a multi-million dollar industry and the nation’s number one producer of pork products. The idea that China, with its history of producing tainted products, may take over this American company is alarming. Hopefully, political pressure can stop the Smithfield deal which will face the scrutiny of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, a government panel that assesses national security risks. From Reuters China’s Shuanghui International plans to buy Smithfield Foods Inc (SFD.N) for $4.7 billion to feed a growing Chinese appetite for U.S. pork, but the proposed takeover of the world’s No. 1 producer has stirred concern in the United States....

Clouds Over Sunnylands: U.S.–China Informal Summit
by Pat_S on June 2, 2013Friday, June 7, Obama will meet China’s President Xi Jinping in Sunnylands, an Annenberg estate in Rancho Mirage, California. The meeting is an informal,”shirt-sleeves” summit. There is some disagreement whether it was China or the U.S. that asked for the meeting. Xi promotes the idea of the “Chinese Dream”, a revitalization of the Chinese nation. Xi is reportedly a more charming personality than his predecessor, Hu Jintao, often descried as “wooden”. There are high hopes in some circles that this will be a breakthrough moment in U.S. – China relations. American Way: It is time for Barack Obama and Xi Jinping to claim their places in history Can great leaders really shape the world we live in? Or are they...

Wedding Bells for Natalee Holloway Suspect Joran van der Sloot
by Gina on June 2, 2013**A post by PopArt. Promoted from the TAM Wire** Ugh, we need to extradite him to the US…. and put him in a cell with Jerry Sandusky. Seriously, this is depraved. Via the Daily Beast. It’s wedding bells for Joran van der Sloot, the 26-year old Dutchman who is serving 28 years in a Peruvian prison for the murder of Peruvian college student Stephany Flores. Van der Sloot gained notoriety in 2005 in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 19, from Alabama, who disappeared on a school trip in Aruba. Van der Sloot was the last person to be seen with Holloway on the night before she was scheduled to fly back to America. Her body was never found,...

Politics, Chicago-Style
by Shifra on June 1, 2013Two articles: One is current. The other was written before the Nov. ‘12 election. (You know, as Jay Carney said, “a long time ago.”) But I think the older article sheds light on the current DC scandals. via Ann Coulter — Obama’s Signature Move: Unsealing Private Records “….Let’s take a romp down memory lane and review the typical Obama campaign strategy. Obama became a U.S. senator only by virtue of David Axelrod’s former employer, the Chicago Tribune, ripping open the sealed divorce records of Obama’s two principal opponents. One month before the 2004 Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, Obama was down in the polls, about to lose to Blair Hull, a multimillionaire securities trader. But then the Chicago Tribune...
