Graph for Pope Francis and everyone else: Economic progress in Argentina vs America

As the twentieth century opened, Argentina was one of the world's wealthier nations, approximately on par with the United States. But Argentina committed economic suicide with its left-wing inclinations and subsequent Peronist policies — all for the sake of “helping” the people and protecting them from the evils of capitalism. The results speak for themselves.

I appreciate that Francis wants to restore our fading spiritual base, lest we be seduced by the idol of materialism. But he should likewise recognize the toxic seductivity of power, and not spread that toxicity to the world.

Proof doesn’t seem to matter to these people. Sadly, Pope Francis is one of them. The false liberal religion matters more. Stirring the leftist brew into Christianity is spiritual poison.

Excellent post, Maynard. I hope this gets bumped to the main blog so that it can be shared and attribution properly noted. I was at a family dinner party on Saturday where the talk was about the Pope. I wish I had this information to share with these mostly uninformed family members who are becoming seduced into thinking that socialism is perhaps a better way of life. Sometimes I am at a lose to back up my claims – this kind of information is invaluable.

Nice post Maynard. The fact that there is a socialist leaning Pope from South America shouldn’t shock anyone. I must say though, as a Catholic, the Pope’s refusal, not oversight, but refusal to address the Muslim slaughter of Christians and invasion of Europe, the decades long enslavement of the Cuban people, the craven abortion industry and attacks on people of faith here in America made me physically sad. Not just emotionally, but sick inside. I felt ashamed to be Catholic. Especially after living through Pope John Paul II and his crusade for freedom against the Soviets. For all the good Pope Francis is doing, he could learn something about how much it matters for the Pope to stand up for human freedom.
