Smart TV. Not so smart Vizio. Sure you can switch to off, but if a corporation will stoop this low, how can an average consumer be sure that “off” is really off? The safest alternative is to not buy that brand.
A ‘little’ paranoia about what this vendor may or may not have done with the settings and so to test we did the following.
Since the TV, when plugged in, is in ‘power standby mode’, and to verify if the ‘opt out/off’ setting changed if we powered cycled the unit. We did just that and the new ‘off’ setting is, in fact, persistent. We only have the one Vizio ‘smart’ in the house, the rest are ‘dumb’.
