The reward for Toga the Baby Penguin has grown to 25,000 pounds (about $43,200 dollars), and the Royal Navy is keeping a lookout, but as each day passes England fears for his survival.

Donations for the reward fund are still coming in from all over the world, including an offer from a young girl to give her new Xbox 360 to the kidnapper in exchange for the return of the penguin. Now, there is suspicion that a bird collector ordered the kidnapping.

Here is what the Washington Post was reporting just a couple of days ago:

…Sky News, which had a grim-faced reporter live at Amazon World, showed photos of Toga throughout the day and urged anyone with information to call in.

“No questions asked,” an anchor said. “We just want to get Toga back to his mum and dad.”…

A motive remained murky, Bright said. Toga might have been stolen by a collector of exotic animals — there are only about 170,000 South African jackass penguins in the wild and 150 in British zoos. Toga was the first penguin born at Amazon World.
