While I want Angelina Jolie, I realize that asking you to help me get her would be, well, not right and actually hopeless. If there was hope the ‘not right’ part would probably be ignored. Therefore, I am asking you to help me get something else. I want these shoes. Bad. Here, they are worn this evening by a very famous European actress at Cannes. It will be a well-known designer and probably from a new collection. If anyone out there knows who the designer is or can track them down, I will owe you one. You will also win the prize of all three of my books, autographed (I knew being an author would come in handy). I realize that shoes and books are very different things, but I like them both, and I hope you do, too.

I have also sent an email to Manolo, the Shoe Blogger to see if he know these shoes.

And speaking of the The Shoes…

Yes, I’m a shoe chick. Help me help you help me.

They looked similiar to the Manolo Blahnik: (my personal fave!!)

    Neiman marcus Beverly Hills

    Manolo Blahnik: Leather black pump

However, I am not quite sure about that wonderful cross cut, I am working on it though..the sides are open in the picture. I am thinking Manolo or Givenchy. I will keep you posted. As a shoegoddess, I (this may be revealing too much about me, but what the heck!) often visit

I will continue my search, but I am thinking Manolo..

Okay, I forgot the King of all shoes. PRADA.
Indeed the closest I could find and also a great site for seeing all the collections. I went a bit mad myself looking tonight..but I think you will find what you are looking for from PRADA..

This isn’t really helpful in your quest for the designer of those shoes but I just have to ask…how does one manage walking in those things without falling face first? I suppose I missed out on the mother-daughter bonding session of: Walking in Heels 101.

    LTLME,

good question, and OMG! the costs of some of those Prada shoes and others….WOW, I just think of the books for fall semester those shoes would buy. Or one car payment, or one months worth of asthma medications, or put food on the table for a month.

I feel guilty for spending $40 on winter boots.

Maybe it’s ’cause I am a guy, but I can’t even figure out who the actress is. I just spent half an hour looking for that picture on the web so I could track those shoes down, to no avail…I so desperately want those books!!! Then, as I laughed at myself for being silly, I couldn’t help but think of the song “In These Shoes” by the late Kristy Macoll…what a great song. Oh well, maybe Tammy will toss out an offer for books that I can figure out someday.
For now, I will just say my thanks to all the vets and families of vets…

Well, at least we can eliminate any possibility that Birkenstock is associated with these shoes.

I don’t know, Tammy. The shoes are very similar to a pair on my niece’s Barbie doll. You may wish to consult with Diane Paone (http://dianepaone.com/pages/dpArtMiniShoes.html) for custom made Barbie shoes. Perhaps she can make a pair for you, too.

I think they may be Prada, but I’m sending this link to my sister who is a fashion designer…….

Okay, now it’s time to attempt to be helpful. They look sorta like Manolo Blahnik Satin Mid-Heel Halter that I found off of the Neiman Marcus page. (Btw, $495.) The problem with the Angelina Jolie pic is that it doesn’t show the back of the shoes.
After seeing the prices for these things, I now understand why my mother never taught me how to walk in heels.

[Hmm, not worn by Angelina, btw :)–ed.]

    I love those shoes!

the style was very popular about 20 years ago, really…my girlfriend had a pair and they are very sexy…she was a shoe maven and couldn’t remember where she bought them, so I never got a pair for myself…so I hope you can find out where I can now buy a pair!!!

Is that Angelina? if not, who is it?

  10. swoozeeinc says:

ok, my sister says Jimmy choo or prada

  11. ltlme says:

Sorry, I skipped over that European Actress part that was posted. Is it Catherine Deneuve?

  12. Kimj7157 says:

If the shoes belong to Catherine Deneuve, I think I know why you just showed her legs. I’m afraid she’s gone and messed with her face and it didn’t go that well. I hate when they do that. She was a classic beauty and would have remained that way, wrinkles and all.

Still has good taste in shoes.:) Hope you find them. (They certainly will look hot stepping out of that new Mercedes. I’m just sayin’… .)

  13. I think this shoes are Manolo Blahnik and the style is d’orsay, they look like crepe fabric, Neiman Marcus doesn’t carry them right now but it’s a classic so call the New York store they surely can get them for you.

[Wow, thanks! yes, clearly the style is d’orsay, and the designer I’m guessing would be European, not American. The key difference with this pair is how short the vamp is cut; that’s the truly interesting design element. Thanks for your opinion. I’ll check with the NY NM store and perhaps even see if there’s someone with Blahnik I can rustle up :)–Tammy]
