Considering what we’re facing now in Washington, and the fact that it will last another 18 months, I think we’re going to be in need of inspiration and a daily reminder of who we are and what we stand for.

So, I am introducing a new daily feature here on Tammy Blog–a quote, video or news story/profile featuring President Reagan. Every time I have him on the site, I get a lot of appreciative email, and there’s no reason to limit our tribute to him to special events. It will be a small gesture, but for me what he had to say on a variety of issues reminds me what Classical Liberalism/Authentic Conservatism and patriotism are all about–an empowered citizenry, small government, personal responsibility and a genuine love for our nation. Those are the values that have made our nation the best on Earth, and they will keep her strong in the years to come. But we must fight for them. We know President Reagan would want us too.

I would like suggestions from you about what to call this daily post. The Reagan Jolt? The Reagan Inspiration? I know for a fact many of you out there are a heck of a lot more creative in that regard than me. I’d love to hear your suggestions.

I will also be adding a Reagan icon to the right hand column which will take you to the Young America’s Foundation which owns the Reagan Ranch and helps educate and organize young conservative students nationwide with a foundation of the values and principles of President Reagan. It’s a great organization and worthy of your support.

    My suggestion: Oxygen

    Reagan quote, “Information is the oxygen of the modern age. It seeps through the walls topped by barbed wire, it wafts across electrified borders.”, Guardian (London, June 14, 1989).

    That’s what this blog and Tammy Radio are all about—getting out the information the EM wants to suffocate.

    I would like to suggest the daily Reagan Refreshment.

    And this is why. Lately, in my Bible study I’ve been learning about the Ministry of Refreshment. It’s not a specific spiritual gift, but is something that every believer (in Christ) can have if they are growing toward maturity.

    Reagan was, and still is, refreshing because of his big picture divine viewpoint, his relaxed mental attitude, and his ability to comfort and encourage us in truth. He is still a blessing. And he never had to “work at” as we see so many trying to do today.

    He had that Ministry of Refreshment that seems now like a river in the desert.

    Thanks so much Tammy!!! You know how much this means to all of us.

    A recent audit found that the Defense Department had bought and then failed to use, some 270,000 commercial airline tickets between 1997 and 2003.
    The tickets were fully refundable, but the Pentagon never bothered to ask for the refunds. The cost to the taxpayers was 100 million dollars. Another 8 million dollars went south when the Pentagon, after buying airline tickets itself, paid for them again when employees submitted claims on their expense accounts.

    In the Treasury Department’s 2003 Financial Report of the United States Government is a short section titled, “Unreconciled Transactions Affecting the Change in Net Position.” It contains the rather grim news that some 24.5 billion dollars of our money has vanished into thin air. The discrepancy occurred because federal agencies failed to properly report expenditures adequately, and that finding the missing money is a “priority.”

    (The above was taken from the book, which is a tremendous read, “Getting America Right,” by Edwin Feulner and Douglas Wilson. I highly recommend it).

    What part of President Reagan’s remarks don’t our politicians get?

    You are only on the radio one hour a week where I live. I found you by chance but couldn’t live without you now. I’ve read “The New Thought Police” and it is just so totally REAL.

    Rendezvous with Destiny

    From his 1964 speech, “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.”

    We are having a rendezvous of sorts with Reagan’s wit and wisdom at this critical moment in our history. Reagan’s words were destined to give patriots inspiration in these dispirting times. We will remember and renew our dedication to fulfilling the dream.
