At about 5:30pm PT. I was filling in for Bernie Goldberg for their media issues segment. We talked about the ridiculous decision by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer to not print a photo of two men the FBI is looking for who may be terrorists scoping out the Seattle ferry system, and the fact that university professors give more money to Democrat candidates than the oil an gas companies give to Republicans. I’m out tight now and posting this from my iPhone but as soon as I get in I’ll have li is for you as well. Hope you can tune in.

UPDATE:

The FBI is seeking to identify these two men. If you have any information call the FBI’s Seattle office at 206-622-0460.

FBI Seeks Identity of Two Men Seen Aboard Washington State Ferries

The FBI released photographs of two men Monday who have been seen on Washington state ferries “exhibiting unusual behavior” and asked the public for help identifying them…The release of the photos did spark a minor controversy between Seattle’s rival papers, when the Post-Intelligencer decided not to run the photo when the Times did.

“Running a photograph of two men who may as easily be tourists from Texas as terrorists from the Mideast with a story that makes them out to be persons of interest in a terrorism investigation seems problematic, to say the least,” Post-Intelligencer Managing Editor David McCumber said in a blog Tuesday, noting that “ferry security is hugely important. So are civil liberties and privacy.”

A Times managing editor defended the paper’s decision to run the photos on Tuesday.

“Further reporting helped us more effectively weigh the potential value — and harm — of publishing the photos,” said Suki Dardarian, the paper’s managing editor of news coverage and enterprise. “After some deliberation, we decided to publish the photographs, along with as much context as we could bring to the story.”

Here is the background on how university employees have become major players in election financing. But only for Democrats.

The New College Try

Nearly four years after academia donated almost $30 million to unseat George W. Bush and Republicans, college professors and others in the education field have contributed more money to federal politics than the oil industry and drugmakers, with a nearly unanimous goal of putting a Democrat in the White House…

Seventy-six percent of the education industry’s total federal contributions for ’08 has gone to Democrats, on par with the industry’s partisanship in the last two election cycles. Perhaps more surprising than the industry’s party split is its sheer size: Education was the eighth-largest industry in terms of all federal campaign contributions in 2004 and the 13th largest in 2006, meaning that in the last two election cycles, college employees contributed more to politicians than the oil and gas industry, which ranked 16th in both cycles.

I am a conservative teacher. On the day of the last Presidential election a student asked me who I was voting for. When I said President Bush there were gasps from the students. I could not believe how upset they were. Another student said, “He wants to take away our welfare”. I told them that I believe they can work hard and take care of themselves. That was the end of the conversation.

They never brought it up again. What was with the comment (by Mr. O’Reilly) that teachers can’t really do much? After students have been with a teacher for awhile, some start to talk and act like that teacher. To the point where it is a little scary how much influence I have on my students. (And I don’t force my views on anyone) Teachers on the left always find a way to bash President Bush and a million other things and never allow students to look at the facts and decide for themselves. Anyway this is the first time I have posted. I have to go now. School starts in less than two weeks and I have to write my emotional ideology lesson plan.

It was nice to be able to see you on OReilly. I never get to see the Fox morning segments. I love your “cut to the chase” attitude:)
