Economist: John McCain’s last chance

Barky tries to prove, somehow, that even though he’s an untested neophyte everything will be just fine when it comes to tyrants nailing us.

Gallup: McCain up two points with Likely Voters.

AP presidential poll: All even in the homestretch Not only is that good news, these internals explain why I am convinced McCain will win, primarily because, no matter how much money Barky spends insisting, Americans aren’t bitter, clingy, stupid or racist.

Since the last AP-GfK survey in late September, McCain also has:

_Posted big gains among likely voters earning under $50,000 a year; he now trails Obama by just 4 percentage points compared with 26 earlier.

_Surged among rural voters; he has an 18-point advantage, up from 4.

_Doubled his advantage among whites who haven’t finished college and now leads by 20 points. McCain and Obama are running about even among white college graduates, no change from earlier.

_Made modest gains among whites of both genders, now leading by 22 points among white men and by 7 among white women.

_Improved slightly among whites who are married, now with a 24-point lead.

_Narrowed a gap among unmarried whites, though he still trails by 8 points.

McCain has cut into Obama’s advantage on the questions of whom voters trust to handle the economy and the financial crisis. On both, the Democrat now leads by just 6 points, compared with 15 in the previous survey.

So, Barky still insists he’s gonna have a Reagan-like landslide despite the fact that polls show him tied with Cindy McCain’s husband. Sounds like the Jedi Mind Trick is his main campaign strategy these days.

The Hill: Police prepare for unrest

IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll: Day Ten

Contrary to other polls, some of which show Obama ahead by double digits, the IBD/TIPP Poll shows a sudden tightening of Obama’s lead to 3.7 from 6.0. McCain has picked up 3 points in the West and with independents, married women and those with some college. He’s also gaining momentum in the suburbs, where he’s gone from dead even a week ago to a 20-point lead. Obama padded gains in urban areas and with lower-class households, but he slipped 4 points with parents.

Have you seen the new RCP Battleground States Poll? Obama/Biden- 48%, McCain/Palin 47%, undecided 6%. Also, check out Barone’s column today on polls.

Is it time for me to go by campaign headquarters? Washington state is a lost cause for the Pres, but we have an very important Congresswoman to support, Cathy McMorris Rodgers. She is our own Sarah Palin and very close politically.

I’m going to Austin in 2 days to hang out with several thousand cancer advocates, runners, walkers and cyclists. Should I trade LIVESTRONG Yellow for Red, White and Blue with McCain Palin buttons? Will it matter?

“Money Can’t Buy You Love” is the song I want to hear when the election is over.
I still find it hard to believe the megabucks involved in this campaign when us folks are so “strugg’linto git by”.
If only we could raise the ire of young people to show how they’re being deceived by Baraq. Ever look into the eyes of a deceived youth?

Am I nuts or does the Gallup link show Obama with a 5 point lead?

Jedi mind trick, indeed…there can’t be another rational explanation…

Do it, Pathman! You’ll regret it if you don’t. In two weeks you can go back to your normal routine.

PATHMAN! I am in Austin and am also attending the Livestrong Challenge (but I am just doing the walk ’cause my knees creak and crunch)… how can we hook up??

  6. Pathman says:

Daredevil, I’ll be doing the 5k walk too.

I’m thinking my USA cycling jersey with “Honor” John McCain and “In Memory of” Tony Snow LIVESTRONG placards over the USA cycling logo on the back. The front is just “USA”.

  7. daredevilaccordian says:

I typically wear pink in the sea of yellow (because yellow just doesn’t work on me, LOL, and I walk with my breast cancer group), and the “in memory of Tony Snow” placards, I could definitely and proudly do… are you walking with a particular team? I will just have to look for your jersey and adornments so we can say hey.

  8. Pathman says:

How about a “Tammy Peeps for McCain Nation” gathering at a nearby coffee shop after the walk. There are a couple already listed in Austin, don’t know the locations.

I don’t know the locations either. OK, let’s try this… after the walk (say 9:30 am), there is a Starbucks at the corner of 6th Street and Congress Ave. (the walk goes around the Capitol at 11th and Congress Ave.)

Wanna meet? I will pin a placard on me that says “Friends of Tammy B.” LOL

    Will that work?
