Stuart Smalley feels the need to challenge this ballot in the Minnesota recount. Is this a vote for Coleman or not? I say an “x” combined with a “squiggle” absolutely is. One could argue that voting while drunk shouldn’t count, but that would be wrong.

Cry us all a river. Not. Stevens gives last Senate speech as staffers weep And Michael Steele thinks pandering to religious fundamentalists is what will bring the Dead Old Party back from oblivion. Boy, is he in for a hard lesson.

Missouri is finally called for McCain. But don’t you worry, the L.A. Times wants to make sure you know Obama is still the president-elect!

The 2008 Weblog Awards

Hey, the 2008 Weblog Awards are accepting nominations for best blogs. Apparently this started earlier in the month and I totally had no clue, but they’ve extended the nominations to November 21 (tomorrow). Perhaps someone might be inclined to nominate the Tammy Blog 😉 I think there are several categories in which we fit, so take a look and submit (if you’re inclined) accordingly. We might have already been nominated, I’m not sure, but it can’t hurt to get us in there. And even with the nomination there’s no guarantee we’ll make the finals (the Tammy Village, while amazing and powerfully unique and special, is not as big and powerful as some), let’s give it a shot 🙂

Instead of picking itself up, getting down to business and solving its and this nation’s problems, The DOP is fighting with itself, moping, slipping into depression and denial, all the while making sure they can be in Washington mid-December for Bush’s final White House party. Pathetic losers.

Pointing fingers, whining, refusing the admit that McCain didn’t win because he’s not a conservative, so conservatives stayed home. He does have one thing right, though: I’ve met Frank Luntz on a number of occasions and he’s a weird guy, and if I may say, a moron. HuffPo: McCain Pollster Explains Loss, Calls Frank Luntz A Moron

Alaskans do the right thing. Mark Begich, their new senator beats Stevens and immediately makes clear that he’s exactly the kind of senator we all need. Good for you Alaskans! Maybe he can teach the Repubs a few things about principles and integrity.

“I think anyone who knows me knows I’m a different Democrat. I’m from Alaska. I’m a believer, a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, a supporter of drilling in ANWR. Alaskans are very liberal [in their belief that] government should not interfere in their personal life,” he said.

“I’m definitely different from a New York Democrat — you can bank on that,” he said in response to a question from the New York Times.

Talk about unintended consequences! If Coleman loses, it will be directly the fault of Ann Coulter who encouraged everyone to get drunk and vote for John McCain. Who knew so many would take her advice? God knows how many of those ballots will surface in the Minnesota recount. Voters drunk enough to vote for McCain but too drunk to “stay in the lines” while filling in the bubble!

George W. Bush (and his Dad) – the grave diggers of the Republican Party. The GOP can be a party of religious people but should not be seen as a reactionary, pandering, type of party. A lot will depend upon how The One performs as POTUS.

Emma kicks it. So does Appalachian Spring, but as bumper/them music? I’d have to hear it.

For those who want to vote for Tammy, she is nominated under the “Best Individual Bloggers” and “Best LGBT Blog”

From Weblog Awards: “Rather than add a “me too” nomination for a site you’re encouraged to use the “+” icon to indicate your preference for nominees. The “+” ratings are one extra piece of information the finalist selection panel can use to help generate the finalist slates in each category. “

Or you can nominate her in one of the other categories.

    Two things:

Keeping people around like T. Stevens is PRECISELY why the GOP lost this year ( profligate comes to mind).

IF all democrats were like the new senator from Alaska, I would change my registration in a heart beat.

  6. HALEY says:

Tammy, I think there’s a mistake in the link you set up entitled, “Good for you Alaskans”. The article that comes up is about 5 terror suspects released from Gitmo.

[Thanks — the link has been corrected. – Pat]

  7. Ripper says:

Frank Luntz would have these focus groups of “Undecided voters” on Fox and would always have 3 – 5 Blacks on them. Yeah as if there were any Blacks in America who were really undecided about voting for Obama! Luntz also wore the worst rats nest on his head.

Exciting News!! Perfect for your next generation zombie. We have another addition to the “Democratic Book Collection for Kids.” The children’s book “Mama Voted For Obama.” The new children’s book from the author of “Why Mommy is a Democrat” and “Why Daddy is a Democrat.” Now, you very sick and demented parents can brainwash and damage your kid even more effectively!! Make sure your kids know you “made the right choice in 2008!” (Barf)

The Dow is in free fall today (11/20). We are already in the Obama recession.

Hey Tammy, what’s your beef with religious people? Or fundementalists,as you call us. The Founding Fathers were, for the most part,’fundementalists’.If George Washington came back to life and wanted to run for President and started talking about taking the country back to it’s religious foundations, would you roll your eyes? If Thomas Jefferson materialized on Capitol Hill and demanded and end to abortion and gay marriage, what would you say to him? Most of our laws, which have kept this country relatively safe and civilized, are founded on Judeo-Christian values. The Framers were obviously successful mixing religion and government,so I don’t see why the same thing can’t be done today. And what about Sarah the Alaskan Fundemetalist? You seemed to be in strong support of her for VP. Yet she was as pro-life as well. Perhaps it’s not the fundementalist who are at fault for the Republican party’s broken house.

  12. ForeverAutumn says:

Naw, Ripper, it’s only an Obama recession once he actually takes office; until then, it’s all evil bush’s fault.

Tammy, if Begich will actually do what he says he’ll do, great! More power to him! But I’ve learned to believe it when I see it.

How do you know a politician is lying? His lips are moving!

Rumor has it that Hilly the Hun will be the Messiah’s Secretary of State. Maybe McCain’s people somehow got jobs with the Obama transition team and got Him to swallow this s**tburger whole.

Intersesting comments from the newly elected Sen. from Alaska. Similar thoughts about issues that wwe all heard from Gov./Vp Nom. Sarah Palin. They sure do have a different outlook on things up there, and I for one am pleased to see it.
Lets hope that he is not just spewing the usual rhetoric.

I’m very happy about the outcome in Alaska. Let’s put our support behind this new Senator and pray for him to have strength because the Dem machine on Crapitol Hill is going to do everything it can to sway him to their cause. It won’t be pretty either.

As for religious fundamentalists: I have no problem with people of faith being involved in politics. That has been a hallmark of our country’s founding. One only needs to go back to John Locke and see the religious arguments in Two Treatises of Government. There is morality dictated in those arguments, too: can man govern himself or should he be enslaved to government? Definitely a moral theme there. That is the same argument we are having today!

Our country’s founding is definitely of the Divine. Our purpose today is of a spiritual nature, too. If not for us, there never would have been the establishment of Israel. We as a nation fulfilled prophecy in supporting that tiny nation: it fulfilled the promise to Abraham made thousands of years ago that his people would have a nation of their own. AND there could not – and cannot – be a completion of prophecy (the fight for Israel by her enemies; division of Jerusalem – the last battle in the Bible) without an independent Israel.

That said, though our nation was definitely found on Judeo-Christian beliefs, it was also the argument of allowing people to have the opportunity to live as freely as possible. It was an experiment. Frankly, the only true road to freedom is not in allowing people to do whatever they want, but providing a framework in which civility and decency influence us to be the best of who we are. We cannot call ourselves a ‘decent’, ‘civil’ or ‘moral’ society as long as we continue accepting abortion. Roe vs. Wade was an egregious act of judicial activism – not the will of the people. In fact, by 1973, there were several areas of the country where abortion was legal but with some form of restrictions (some rather elastic really). R vs. W erased that. It was not simply a relgious argument because the laws restricting abortion up until 1973 were not from the Catholic chuch – it was due to findings from the medical community! For ages, various societies had restrictions or bans on abortion due to the perceived calamity that would result in devaluing life. Look where we are today!

Before we became economically bankrupt, we had to have a foundation in becoming morally bankrupt. It goes hand in hand and serves as that continued cycle of abuse that many societies throughout history have experienced: the moment you devalue life (be it slavery, genocide, abortion, etc.), you lay the groundwork to devalue everything – and everyone – else.

I am far more fearful of what the leftist relgious zealots are capable of doing to this nation than I am of those on the right.
