The Brown-Obama meeting and controlled press is classic, patent OBama. (He actually believes he’s rightfully in the league of world leaders.)
We have a president who’s obtained a place by propaganda, while most of the leaders have served in thier nation’s and international politics longer than the Baraq has in the Illinois Senate.
I expect to see some resentment shown for this.
Baraq, I impart to you my Dad’s words; “If you’re good to your enemeies at the cost of your friends; you’ll have no friends and enemies that won’t respect you.”
Stuff that in your ears, you arrogant drifter.

  2. DogOnCrack says:

Shawmut, your father sounds like a very wise man.

    Carbon offset credits?
Yes, of course it is every citizens solemn duty to pay for Professor Gore’s next flight on a private jet.

  4. Shawmut says:

He was a pretty sage soul, Dogoncrack. Like most children, I discovered him long after he left this earth.
I recall some of his best lines; “If you want to kill time; try working it to death.”; “Keep it to the least number of moving parts.”
And, now that you’ve provided me with a segue to re-enter this dialogue, I was reflecting on the Chinese launching.

You all know these people too. I have a friend who, after a two-week tour of China, came back fully knowledgeable about; “the people”, the culture, their economy, their over-all dynamics. He’s still all agog and drooling the mystique as he identifies his genius in ‘discovering China’. Needless to say, I want to be at hand when his “future shock” eases.
(Maybe a replay Tianamen Square at an economic summit in 201?, or when they auction off our debts to the Saudi’s – Sharia Compliant of course)
Strange, isn’t it. I worked some CHICOM counter-intelligence cases in the 60’s and 70’s.
I found they had a jaundiced, slanted outlook.
That observation is actually PC – “Positively Conservative”.

  5. Sgt Hardkill says:

Shawmut, your dad sounds very wise. I wish more of our conservative leaders would take such a simple principle to heart.

The quote about friends and enemies is beautiful in its simplicity, as contrasted with the left’s overworn, wimpy, nuanced nonsense.

    Hardkill out.

Shawmut, let me add praise to your father’s wisdom, and also, I love the phrase “you arrogant drifter.” (aka con artist scum) I am nearly weeping in laughter (or just weeping) from the faux cons who voted for Obambi and are beginning to think they made a mistake, i.e. Brooks. My retired coal miner uncle used to always say, “Talk is cheap, it takes money to buy good whiskey!” Brooks, et al, never thought history, resume, deeds, were important? Really really glad I am not related to this guy.

A little too late Johnny but I see that testicle fertilizer has kicked in. HELLO!!!!! us “crazy”
Right Wing Nuts told you this guy was a dud. There’s pork in a Federal spending bill? WHAT?
next thing you’ll tell me is there’s gambling in
Casablanca. John McCain with more fire in a speech
than Rush? Who’d a believed that? Careful Johnny, your “friends” in the press won’t like that tone
with their president. Show some real moxie, leadership and guts and who knows, maybe a Conservative will embrace you someday.

Well it’s nice to see that David Brooks has quickly recognized that Obama is not what he thought he was. A lot of people in the country still don’t get it. So let’s give credit where it’s due. Too bad Brooks was not more perceptive during the election. I saw right away, during the campaign, that there was a disconnect between the image he portrayed and the true man, if that exists.

I don’t think anybody knows, but like Gen. Powell I assume Brooks voted for Obama. He, too, got a “tingle up his leg” when he first met him. Obama is very good at telling people what they want to hear. FDR shared that trait. Obama himself said, I believe in one of his books, that he is like a blank slate to the public. He said people project their hopes and dreams on him, and that many of them will be disappointed when they find out who he really is.

  9. Shawmut says:

Brooks is reaching for the caboose as the Obamania train is pulling out.
Were he an adolescent enthralled by the Baraq fad, that would be one thing. If he was only courting the trend, that would be another.
But, No. He joined the common and vulgar ‘prols’.
God, that must have taken some sacrifice; to realize he was as gullible as the majority.
Some criminals use guns, some like Madoff use white collars and private clubs. Some prostitutes use beds, some use typewriters. Brooks evidently qualifies for the latter. Did he get his price? Or is he now shouting “Rape”?
