Fashion world honors new stars Rodarte — and Obama

The fashion industry made it clear at its annual awards ceremony Monday night that it’s looking to future stars to see it past the doldrums of the recession, shunning longtime favorites and honoring a largely new guard: Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang — and Michelle Obama.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America’s special tribute award went to the first lady, considered a new player in this world.

Noting her “meteoric rise as a fashion icon,” CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg said Obama had “a unique look that balances the duality of her lives” in her roles as trusted adviser to her husband, President Barack Obama, and busy mother to their two daughters.

OMG! I’m sorry, but this is sick and downright trashy. But I always knew from reading Andy Martin’s, ESQ, Chicago, IL, blog that this couple is the most uncouth couple to ever occupy the White House.

The Iranian solution is simple. The masses charge the Presidential palace and slaughter Adolph Ahmadinejad and all the mullahs. Along the way, steal the guards weapons so the masses can be armed. After all, let’s not forget that Adolph Ahmadinejad was one of the leaders of the revolution in 1979 that took Americans hostage. And what does Obama have to say? “Duh, duh, we didn’t have observers on the ground, uh, uh”. Give me a break! Like Iran is going to allow observers to observe their elections. At the same time, what is Urkel able to do anyway? Oh, I forgot, let’s sit down and have coffee.

Why must the left always take the oposite of “x” and make it “x”. They can’t take close to X and make it X. they have to create total deception, or they seem not to be interested. M.B. is no fashion plate. She’s not a completely awful dresser, but sometimes you have to do a double-take– not in a good way. I can give her a pass on those moments, but there’s no way I’m going to look at something that makes me think YIKES!, and call it outstanding.

Maybe it’s “just me,” but if the woman in that photo is a fashion icon, I’m Prince Phillip’s valet! I think the food from the White House kitchen must be better than she was used to in Chicago — she’s looking quite “prosperous” around the equator. And I’m sorry, folks, but I can’t picture ANY former First Lady going out in public looking like she just came from a garage sale and is wearing her purchases home!

I don’t care much what she looks like. It’s what she represents that I find most disconcerting. While the mainstream media trumpets their arrival as the second coming of Camelot, I can’t help but recall that she and her husband followed Jeremiah Wright and his Black Liberation Theology for two decades, their relationships with the likes of William Ayers, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezco, Louis Farrakhan, and Saul Alinsky, and the very words they have spoken against the country they now “rule” like some sort of self-proclaimed benevolent despots.

Welcome to the Nanny State we have suddenly become.

As for Iran, the Mullah’s have put Ahmadinejad back in power for a reason… to continue his inexhorable march toward the destruction of Israel. While the unbelievable temerity of Jimmy Carter continues to condone and patronize Hamas.

I think Carter ( and Clinton before him, and certainly Obama now ) should have spent a bit of time understanding Israel’s rightful claim to their homeland before he wrote his book.

Hey Jimmy, for your edification: a slide show that represents the truth of the Israeli homeland:

The woman dressed like a clown and went out in public in one of the fashion capitols of the world, and she’s a FASHION ICON???? I guess I just don’t “get” fashion, being born and raised in flyover country, clinging to my gun and my cross. My idea of high fashion is clean jeans without holes and a clean, plain t-shirt. If I’m really trying to dress up, I add a jacket. Many colors and many layers worn simultaneously is not my idea of fashion. Unless you’re a bag lady.

I’m with Cinderellaman: I don’t care what she looks like as much as I’m concerned about her views about this country.

What I find particularly alarming is that poor Bo looks as though he has not been groomed since brought to the White House. His coat looks rather knarled, overgrown and uncomfortable – especially in summer time. Oh, but it might be a bit cool in DC right now since parts of the US are not exactly in a warming stage this summer after all.

Seriously though, they can hire a pizza guy from Missouri – why not at least hire a groomer for Bo?

  8. Young American says:

This endorsement puts the fashion industries credibility down the commode.

Good one BIGDANA. Yea, it looks as though baby’s got back Michelle is taking advantage of the all you can eat grub in her new home.

  9. DawnofAnewError says:

Well, all I can think when I see this picture is:

Would Laura Bush or Jackie Kennedy have been seen wearing something remotely close to this in view of photographers?

I think we all know the answer.

  10. Shawmut says:

I remember very well the Reagan words regarding Poland in 81. Jaruzelski sent in troops before being ordered by Moscow (sparing another Budapest). Even though it was around Christmas, many put another “White Candle” in the window to remember Poland.
But the mind-set of the hirsuted theocracy will allow only so much razzle-dazzle. They shouldn’t want to show the guards until the doors, and foreign link like twittlers and twattlers are under control. Taking no bets.

Have some compassion, the Lady is under stress.
John Harwood is trying to steal her man.
