End-of-life issues were raised as well; right now it is estimated that nearly 30 percent of Medicare’s annual $327 billion budget is spent on patients in their final year of life.

Jane Sturm told the story of her nearly 100-year-old mother, who was originally denied a pacemaker because of her age. She eventually got one, but only after seeking out another doctor.

“Outside the medical criteria,” Sturm asked, “is there a consideration that can be given for a certain spirit … and quality of life?”

“I don’t think that we can make judgments based on peoples’ spirit,” Obama said.

As a Republican, and one who srved in the Party apparatus, I have no more sympathy for the likes of Governor Sandford than I have for the loss of the serpentine Arlen Specter.
In each case we have supported these men with our votes, money and good will. A great deal of that support assumes that candidates will demonstrate, as standard bearers, reasonable – reasonable – traits of good character, integrity, ethics, discretion and loyalty. The latter virtue being interpreted as appropriate to family, friends and country.
Real people don’t like to see anyone go down, but when we’ve gone out there in the storm, rowing against the wind and find that a leader is dragging the anchor, we get more than a bit pissed off.
We can allow for the human dimensions, but not at the expense of the team’s morale.
On another matter, quite opposite of family tragedy:
USA broke Spain’s long-winning soccer run. Remember Spain? First country to pull out of Iraq once they elected a socialist government.
The US Soccer Team is the only high-point in US Foreign Policy this year. They went into the matches to win, demonstrated real team-work and did so in sportsman-like way, and…so far…haven’t felt the need to apologize for it.

    Sanford the trouser snake:

I am so *not* interested in this guys indiscretions- just like I dont care to know the details of my neighbors or John Minus Kate’s.

When I read a headline like ‘Church Conducts Gay Exorcism’……… I’m thinking “What the HELL?”
Seriously??? How do they feel about conducting “Affair Exorcisms” ?? I’m thinking that might be more prudent!!!! Phuuuuleeeeze!

133 years ago today (June 25, 1876 the Battle of the Little Bighorn aka Custer’s Last Stand). Too bad our media does not report historical anniversaries that are over 70 years. Anyone visiting Montana ought to take a ride out there.

Glad to see that FOx News is slaughtering the competition.

So the All Barack Channel medical infomercial was a bust. Good!
Let’s make sure Obama’s social medicine bill never makes out of Congress. Folks start letting your Reps in Congress know their jobs are in jeopardy if they’re in favor of this killer, and I do mean killer, bill.
Does anyone believe that these elite snobs would subject themselves or their loved ones to ObamaCare? If ObamaCare isn’t good enough for them, it’s not good for us either!
