If you lived in Southern California in the 90s, the face of this then-little girl was everywhere. Kidnapped off the street, one could only imagine the horrible things she went through. Then the presumption was, killed.

Reports now indicate a 29- year old woman claiming to be that 11-year old kidnap victim has presented herself at a Bay Area police station. For her family’s sake let’s truly hope it’s her. And her story, no doubt, will be riveting and a lesson for all of us.

Kidnapped girl reportedly surfaces in Concord

A woman who has been missing from her South Lake Tahoe home has reportedly surfaced in Concord, 18 years after she was kidnapped.

Jaycee Dugard, who would be 29 today, apparently walked into the Concord Police Department on Wednesday. Concord police have declined comment, referring inquiries to the El Dorado County sheriff’s office. A news conference is scheduled for today.

Dugard was last seen on June 10, 1991 as she was walking to a bus stop in South Lake Tahoe. Dugard, a blue-eyed, blond 11-year-old dressed in a pink top and pink pants, set out to catch the bus to her school near South Lake Tahoe. She never made it.

As her stepfather watched helplessly from the family’s driveway on a hill about two blocks away, a two- tone gray sedan pulled up and someone yanked the girl into the car and sped off. Even though officers responded within minutes, no trace of the car or girl was ever found.

Dugard’s mother was reportedly on her way from her southern California home to reunite with her daughter.

A press conference is scheduled for today. I’ll update you with details.

I hope it turns out better than the Steven Stayner post kidnapping.

I remember seeing the TV movie about Stayner, “I Know My First Name Is Steven”. Yes, I hope it turns out better than that as well, but seeing that one of the people arrested is a sex offender, I’m not confident.

  3. If she is the missing girl, it appears she was only allowed to live as breeding stock for the male of the kidnapping couple; hopefully she can rebuild a decent life after this. The kidnappers should get the death penalty for this kind of imprisonment.

“The kidnappers should get the death penalty for this kind of imprisonment.”

Unfortunately, our robed masters in their infinite wisdom have decided that we would only be allowed to execute these monsters if they had killed their victim.

    this sums it up:

in 1976,phillip craig garrido abducts- kidnaps- a woman, brings her across state lines , imprisons her and “sexually assaults” her. in 1977, he’s given 50 years in the state pokey for the crime.

    paroled after only 11 years.

he’d still be in prison today if he served out his sentence then and this girl would have never been abducted.

death penalty for rape- especially if a crime against a minor. and we call it rape by decree from now on- no more ambiguity, no ‘sexual assault’ or ‘ molestation’. if we as a society really cared about our children – male and female- being sexually abused and raped by adults we’d actually punish the crimes with the severity they warrant instead of letting these pieces of filth off again and again. our culture and legal system enables the exploitation of children and barely notices, rarely punishes rape in general. the only surprise in this case is that the abducted child, now a grown woman, is still alive. our energy should be put into the psychological well being of victims such as this not in any vain misguided attempts to ‘ help’ and ‘ rehabilitate’ the criminal.

I’m sure she will have a horrific tale of what happened to her for all those years. I’m really glad to hear that that couple in in custody. Great case for the death penalty…
