I wanted to give you all an update on my appearance at the Smart Girl Summit this Thursday and Friday, 9/30-10/1. As you all know, I’ve been very much looking forward to the event but alas, since just after the GOProud party here in New York on Saturday night I have been trying to fight something off. At first I was hoping it was the flight combined with perhaps a simple head cold, and it stayed in the realm of achy-fatigue, but tonight it took a turn–into an undeniable mini-flu-thingy.

It’s not a horrible flu, I can work and get along, but I know it would be irresponsible of me to spread this around by attending the summit. With it getting slightly worse, I know it won’t be gone by then.

I’m beside myself, as we’ve been planning for this for so long. The summit agenda looks terrific and the lineup of speakers is excellent. With people like Michele Bachmann, Debra Burlingame, Liz Cheney, SE Cupp, and so many others, I know that everyone will have a fabulous time even without me! LOL!

I know some TAMs plan on attending, and Pat S. our Tammy Radio producer and an original TAM, will still be attending, so if you are going please make sure you meet-up with Pat. You can tweet her at @pat_ess or email her at pats -@- tammybruce.com to make sure you connect.

My apologies to all of you–I was so looking forward to the event itself and meeting so many of the Smart Girls, but I do know we will have many opportunities to meet-up in the months (and years) to come as we continue our work to return our great nation to her founding principles. For all who are attending, you’re are going to have a wonderful time, and I do want reports from TAMs! At this point Tammy Radio will be a “Best Of” tomorrow, but other than that we will carry on πŸ™‚

Poor Tammy that’s a bummer, we’ll have to infuse you with super vitamins before you get on a plane or go to a big crowded city. Stay in bed and get lots of rest and don’t listen or watch anything about you know who, he’s too much stress. Even Beck is getting ill, he’s having all kinds of weird symptoms with his hands and feet now, being that close to evil will do that to you. I will say a get well prayer for you, take care my dear πŸ™‚

    • Tammy says:

You know, I used to get Vitamin B *shots* on a regular basis. Maybe I need to go back to that. The ulcer treatment, that Nexium, also apparently affects the ability for your system to metabolize Vitamin B, even though I’ve been off of it for a while, they say that persists for a little while. Either way, I do think the vitamin shots may need to make a comeback for me, especially since I will be doing more traveling through the fall and winter, and of course next year it’s going to be even busier!

      • varmint says:

Digestion and absorption of some vitamins might be enhanced if you put a table spoon or two of vinegar in a glass of water or juice around the time you eat and take vitamins. Also, most do not get enough iodine. Try some Wakame seaweed.
The dehydrated packs are very compact. The following “recipe” is nuts, but very effective nutritionally. Take hot water and rehydrate some seaweed in a bowl. It takes seconds. Add a tablespoon or so of vinegar. I often go with Apple cider vinegar. Put in some toasted pumpkin seeds (I use unsalted, but it’s up to you) Put in a splash of olive oil. Put in some curry. Stir a bit.
Put in a boiled egg and chop it just a little. For desert go with something that will give you some resveratrol. I can’t handle much wine so I eat raisins or whole berry cranberry sauce, or both. I suspect the tiny little currants might be richer in resveratrol. Don’t be surprised if you feel a strong surge of feelings of well being in a few minutes. I noticed quite a spike in libido the first couple of times. Oddly I had a similar feeling once when I crunched up a single, large, whole clove of garlic, (God it burned!) and swallowed my glass of vinegar water to wash it down. The surge in libido came in a few minutes. Lots of sexual feelings, so I’m betting it spikes testosterone a bit.
You WILL reek of garlic. And you will feel great. It seems to be good for my sinuses \ allergies as well. Now you know my dark secret. Such a burden has been lifted to confess this! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now you all must die!

  2. ShArKy666 says:

tammy oh that’s TERRIBLE!!…maybe if you get just a litle bit better, you can still go if u wear one of those surgical mask thingys? πŸ™‚

    • Tammy says:

Thank you would be *so* attractive!! LOL!

      • ShArKy666 says:

haha…tammy but u know what? if it was me, and i felt very strongly about going there, i’d go anyway..i wudn’t care about any of that appearance stuff…hey listen..just think about this one point ok? if the feeling you wanna be there is stronger than your vanity….GOOOOO anyway!!!

        • JLThorpe says:

Yes, Tammy, be stubborn and careless like me. When I hurt my neck recently, it was the morning I was taking a trip to NJ. I didn’t let it stop me. Of course, the pain did ruin any chance of having an enjoyable trip, but my one-track mind couldn’t call off the trip for anything.

Personally, I say see how you feel. If you feel well enough by tomorrow or Thursday, Smart Girl may still be on. Maybe one of the gas masks tabbywabby suggested will help keep you from contaminating us.

  3. aardvark says:

    Get well soon…said a prayer fer ye…

  4. TAM2010 says:

    rest…rest…rest…

  5. MaryVal says:

Oh no, Tammy, so sorry to hear that! Get better soon. Sending prayers your way.

  6. Maynard says:

Tammy, you can still go to the SmartGirlSummit. It will be fine if you get one of these. You can buy one here.

    You’re welcome!

  7. Joel267 says:

Hope you are better soon. I’m sure it was a hard decision to make πŸ™
Although, I am not going to be able to attend Smart Girl Summit I was looking forward to having you in the DC area and being close to us here on the East Coast.
jeaneeinabottle has it right; lots of vitamins and lets all take some precautions against the evil.
    Get well soon Tammy!

    • Tammy says:

Thanks Joel. Yes, you have no idea. So much went into it, and Pat S. and I had planned the weekend to catch up and do some sight-seeing. I know Pat will have a great time, but any TAMs, please do connect with her at the summit.

  8. ffigtree says:

Sending you virtual hugs and chicken soup!

  9. JLThorpe says:

I’m sorry to hear that, Tammy. My main reason for going was to see you. Without you there, I think I may skip it.

    • Tammy says:

I know, one of the main reasons I was going was to meet TAMs. I’m so sorry, but the event does look good, including speakers like Debra Burlingame and Liz Cheney. And Pat S. will be there. But there are also other opportunities coming up, including AZ tea parties and the Chicago Palin meet-up in Noveber after the election. Do let me know what you decide. It may be time very soon to have a meet-up specifically for TAMs!

  10. We should just move the summit to Tammy’s house. Nothing is more healing than a house full of strangers when you feel like crap πŸ™‚

    Get well soon!

  11. Shifra says:

    Tammy,
So sorry you are not feeling well, but, frankly, what did you expect? I mean, breathing the same air as Ahmadinejad, Farrakhan, and all those creeps in the UN in Manhattan this week? I am sure you will feel much better when you land in L.A. πŸ™‚

    • Tammy says:

I hope so. I can tell you Shifra here in NY there are ads featuring Imadinnerjacket’s face and reminders that he’s a mass murderer, and condemning the idea that he should get the bomb. I was happy to see that. They were all over NY.

  12. morecowbell says:

Vitamin C, Vitamin B, Chicken Soup, lots of water and lots of tissues.

    • Tammy says:

That’s the plan πŸ™‚ I’m having voice silence today so if I improve I may do a Special Report tonight btw. Thanks Don.

      • morecowbell says:

If it will make you feel any better.. I envy you. I am sick (flu, I think), overseas in a smokey, tiny hotel room and can’t sleep. Have a working breakfast in 2 hours, presentation in 4 hours (I haven’t finished) followed by a panel discussion and then breakout meetings into the evening.. then the train, etc, etc .. I am sure you know the drill… LOL.

        • houstongracie says:

OH Moooooooooo, sorry you’re sick too! According to your post doesn’t look like rest is an option for you at this point. Sending you a warm Tam hug and hope you get to feeling better soon.

          • morecowbell says:

Mooo to Youu houston… still thinking that recipe for dove..

          • houstongracie says:

Oh Moooooooo, I would so be glad to make it for you. I really hope you are feeling better and I will write down the recipe for you. Warm Tam hugs and kisses.Get your butt back home as soon as you can!!!

  13. naga5 says:

    oh, my! πŸ™
    feel better, tammy.
there’s a lot to be said for rest. we need you for the long run!
    rick

    • Tammy says:

Thanks Rick, this isn’t the worst flu I’ve ever had, but again, it’s mostly about not wanting to pass this around *and* for it to not get worse. I want to make sure I can do the regular Tammy work in the meantime.

  14. mariamcbean says:

Hey, Tammy, Every time I fly, I get sick! Know the feeling…stay abed and get rest…we miss you!

  15. Tammy says:

I know I mentioned the GOProud party, but on the flight out I tried to ignore that fact that a person seated across the aisle from me was not well. I put it out of my mind, yet the same air circulates for 5 hours and you’re trapped. If I do perk up I will do a Special Report tonight. I’ll let everyone know if that’s gonna happen.

    • ShArKy666 says:

SEE??????? if you only had one of those MASKS i was talking about, you couldda popped it rite outta ur purse, slapped that sucker on, and avoided all this mess!!…hey just remember in JAPAN people use them all the time :p

  16. Kelly says:

Hang in there, Tammy. Being sick is bad enough but it’s really no fun when you’re not at home. I hope it starts easing up as the day goes on.

  17. larrygeary says:

Tammy, staying away from the SGS is the right thing to do while you’re sick. But perhaps you could record your speech at your Fox studio (or get that Tam Cam) and send it to them. Or maybe even do it via live video hookup, so you can do Q&A. I don’t know about these things, so I’m just tossing out ideas.

A TAM meetup would be great. Maybe go to DC and tour some of the museums and other sights as a group. Or the same in NYC. Something that would be fun for you as well as us.

Get well soon, and keep us updated.

  18. USApride says:

Tammy rest up that voice. We need you on the air enlightening and inspiring folks. Hope DIY guy takes a break so you can rest. Load up on chicken soup and orange juice πŸ™‚ Prayers for a quick recovery.

  19. Chuck says:

Save your energies, Tammy, and rest. We need you fighting with the unruly mobs, :-).

  20. norm1111 says:

Take some time off and you should be able to come back with a vengeance..woops! is that word to strong for the lefties?

Anyway, get better, Tammy…I am out here in the West and can’t go back there, but I have a good friend, a Smart Girl, from Southern Arizona who will be there …I hope she will be giving reports on the true story of the Arizona border.

  21. houstongracie says:

Tammy, I am so sorry that you are under the weather with the flu. Get lots of rest and fix yourself a hot toddy to go with your chicken soup. I wish I was close enough to make you some homemade soup.

I swear the sickest I have ever been is after a flight. Screw the nekid machines what we need are decontamination machines at the airports!

  22. Palin2012 says:

I signed up for SGS when you announced you would be there; very disappointed. Hope you feel better. Going to try cancelling hotel. πŸ™

  23. nightowl1111 says:

Tammy it wont be the same without you! I hope to see you when I can. Of course hope you feel better soon and want you to take care of yourself.

  24. ConservativePup says:

Aww Tammy, so sorry to hear that you’re not feeling well, and that you will miss the SGP summit. I know you were looking forward to that; I’m not able to go, but was looking forward to reading or hearing later what you said. You’re one of the best, and as a former lib feminist myself, a real hero to me. Take good care of yourself. We warrior women must stay strong for the job ahead of us, fighting these unruly 60’s-leftover revolutionaries who have no respect for America, her Constitution, and her way of life. I’m sick of them myself.

Have you ever taken that Airborne stuff? It’s OTC, you can find it anywhere. A teacher developed it; just a mix of vitamins, herbs, immune-boosting stuff. It has worked for me more than once. Easy to take, fairly pleasant too. Give it a try. Saying a prayer for you.

  25. PalinPromotions says:

Hope you feel better soon Tammy. Get lots of rest and you’ll be ready to “punch evil in the face” again real soon.

    Martha

  26. RuBegonia says:

Well — I’m flying over the heartland as I read this…on my way to DC. Disappointed…but the Tammy Army carries on πŸ™‚ Pat_S — have my shoes shined for inspection! Take care Tammy. Woof!

  27. DouggieJ says:

    Get well soon Tammy!

  28. cinzy says:

Sad to hear you are feeling sick today, Tammy! We will all miss your personal report about the summit. Get better FAST- I don’t want you to have to miss your Wednesday classes as well.

  29. LittlePatriot says:

Tammy, put on a pot of coffee, get Snoopy, Syd, a good book, curl up and get comfy and take a snooze.

  30. ffigtree says:

Here’s an idea: How about the Monday (or what ever day works best) after SGS all the TAMS that attended call in on the show to share their stories?!?! I know many of us that are not going would love to hear 1st hand accounts and live vicariously through fellow TAMS. πŸ˜€

We heart you Tammy! I hope you are resting comfortably and back to yourself again soon! πŸ˜‰

  31. LetitiaWard says:

We’ll miss you at SGS, get over the “Tamiflu” soon πŸ™‚

  32. BarbaraM says:

Air travel is always germ-risky, use lots of wipes. Drink lots of fluids and SLEEP. Take Tylenol PM, and know that everyone is on your side wanting you to do the best thing for yourself.

  33. Crueladev says:

I blame the shoes!….I told you not to wear those shoes!!!
    Feel Better Tammy! πŸ˜‰

  34. TheresaMC says:

Thoughts and prayers for you Tammy!
Everyone gave all the suggestions I could ever think of and then some.
I sure hope you feel better soon and I will be looking forward to that “soon to be” TAM meet-up.

With all this love coming your way, if your not feeling better you must be at least smiling!

  35. Mutnodjmet says:

As a biological safety specialist, I applaud your decision. A lot of people, especially critical players in the Nov. 2nd victories, will be healthy and active because of your sacrifice.

I am so sorry to read this, tough, as I know you were really looking forward to this event. Prayers for your speedy recovery.

  36. GoofusKAC says:

I’m looking at this two ways Tammy (and being a Gemini I’m allowed to do that…and so am I)…

    1) I’m so very sorry you’re sick, I’ve been a listener and friend for YEARS, and I know factually that if you’re canceling trips and not doing live shows it’s a little bit worse than you’re letting on. Even though we’re “not a Christian nation” I’ll say a little prayer for your speedy recovery regardless. Plus, you have school today, and you can NOT miss that, right? They might make you write “I LOVE OBAMA” on the blackboard 500 times in detention! YIKES!

    2) I was hoping for a last-minute ‘lifeline’ to be able to attend SGS this weekend, but it looks like a no-go aside from getting the time off work. My constantly-dying PC and dead car battery just ate away at my savings this month. I know many people are going to be there specifically because of you and your promotion of the event, and even though disappointed at your absence, I’m sure it will be an enormous success in its own rite, though you will be missed. Your health and well-being are much more important, and there will still be a LARGE group of people there BECAUSE of you. Be proud of that.

NOW…in order to make this up to all of us (LOL)… you MUST make your next journey to the Virginia Beach area for a TAM meet-up. You have at least a dozen TAMs within three hours of here (many within MINUTES), and now that those pesky tourists are gone, you’ll have to deal only with the regular daily traffic nightmare that is ‘Hampton Roads’.

Not only will I be your personal chauffeur, but I can hook you up with a free studio to record a “special report” if you want, and can secure an inexpensive, non-skanky, bedbug-free hotel for your stay. I’ve been here all my life…I know people.

In the meantime, THERAFLU, THERAFLU, THERAFLU!!! It works wonders, trust me on this! I hope you feel better soon boo-boo, and please keep us posted.

On behalf of all TAMs everywhere… we love you, we miss you, and we want you WELL!

    D. πŸ™‚

  37. DianeRoberts says:

Tammy, I’m sorry you are not feeling well. And, once again I am happy that I didn’t purchase the ticket to attend the summit in Washington, D.C.

I live very close to Washington, D.C. and visit the monuments often. Tammy, oneday I am going to be walking on the mall and I know that I’ll see one of my few heroes in life strolling along without a care in the world. Y*O*U. πŸ™‚

I hope you’re feeling better. We love you. Bless you and yours.

  38. hsgripper says:

Hope you are feeling better. Here’s another receipe: Boil some turkey drumsticks until they are fallig apart then finish them under the broiler. Now you have some nice broth to sip and a soup base to use with the turkey meat and whatever veggies you like.
