Dude, This is Sooooo Deep
by Pat_S on October 30, 2010A post by Pat “So what exactly was this?” he asked as the rally wound down. “I can’t control what people think this was, I can only tell you my intentions. This was not a rally to ridicule people of faith or people of activism, or to look down our noses at the heartland or passionate argument, or to suggest that times are not difficult and we have nothing to fear. They are and we do.” That was Jon Stewart talking about the tragic comedy Rally for Sanity or whatever. Well here’s what I think it was. It was a liberal wake for Hope and Change. Liberals love to describe their motives in laudatory grandiose terms and they never think...

Restoring Jihad
by Maynard on October 30, 2010A note by Maynard To be honest, I don’t follow rallies very closely, I just try to catch the gist. I glanced at this overview of the “Rally to Restore Sanity”, and this paragraph caught my eye: Stewart pulled off his typical blend of deadpan comedy and bad jokes in several segments, which were broken up with musical features. Ozzy had a sort of “battle of the bands” with Yusuf Islam (the former Cat Stevens), along with Mavis Staples, The Roots, John Legend. Steven Colbert, of course provided comedic backup. What’s Yusuf Islam doing here? Anyone remember him? He was a familiar musical voice back when I attended Starfleet Academy (at that time he was only “Cat Stevens”). He later...

Tammy and Her Laptop in New York
by Tammy on October 30, 2010Woo hoo! a TAM Mama Grizzly. Ready and Unruly for Tuesday! Get your Grrr on everyone! Hi everybody! have arrived in New York, settled into the hotel and am getting ready to launch into the Weekend Update. The weather here is fab, and I’m really looking forward to Tea Party Express‘ Wilmington, DE rally tomorrow. Starting at 3pm, we’ll be at Riverfront Wilmington, 815 Justison St., right there in Wilmington. My plan for tomorrow includes watching Governor Palin on Fox News Sunday, getting a Slurpee, and then grabbing the train down to the rally. I have a fair bit of writing on the docket as well, so I’ll fit that in when I can 🙂 There’s been a lot of...

Obama Admin Wishes Genocidal Maniac a “Happy Birthday”
by Tammy on October 29, 2010(Pic courtesy of RuBegonia 🙂 What does Urkel’s admin do on a day like this when we’re dealing with a number of terrorist threats and activities? Hillary’s State Dept sends a Happy Birthday greeting to a genocidal Islamist maniac…Ahmadinejad to be specific. I kid you not. You really don’t send a “Happy Birthday” message to a guy who’s best gift would be the annihilation of all the Jews. But that’s just what Urkel did. And the pathetic nature of attaching it to a request for the beasts to send home American hostages as a present to us. Un-freaking-believable. Sarah Palin has a couple of things to say about that here and here on Twitter. In the meantime, while Obama’s admin...

Arguing With a Liberal
by Maynard on October 29, 2010Another helpful post by Maynard If you’ve always wanted to make movies but you have no actors, facilities, money, or skills, then Xtranormal.com is your dream come true. But before you start scripting, consider… I haven’t actually made any Xtranormal movies, and maybe you shouldn’t either. My spider sense warns me that this site, if one actually starts to use it, could waste a lot of time. Proceed with caution if you’re a perfectionist or prone to addiction. As I understand it, your oeuvre ends up on YouTube. I will pass along a couple of links which are, I assume, the creations of enthusiastic wags with too much time on their hands. Be warned: There is vulgar language in these...

The Public Versus Public Sector Unions
by Maynard on October 28, 2010A post by Maynard This Economist article on the bloated public sector unions, “Welcome to the real world”, sets down some facts and anecdotes illuminating the untenable situation of many local governments across the nation. …as private-sector unions have faded, public-sector ones have thrived. In 2008 37% of government workers were unionized, nearly five times the share in the private sector, and the same share that was unionized 25 years earlier. Over that period, the share of unionized private-sector jobs collapsed from 17% to 8%. In 2009, for the first time, public workers comprised more than half of America’s union members… This is because unionized private businesses were driven into bankruptcy and nonexistence, whereas the government always manages to deliver...
