Not surprisingly after a day like Sunday and anticipating Tuesday, I have insomnia, so I thought I would at least make it productive πŸ™‚

Earlier today many of you experienced the site down with either a blank screen or an error message. Others received a ‘virus’ or malware warning. First, we obviously did get the site back up and running. Secondly, we have done a full scan of the site itself and the server and it indicates as completely clean. Yet, we did get several reports of various kinds noting warnings about a virus or something. The hosting company is doing further investigation based on the 4 emails we received with that issue, but in the unlikely event you do get a virus warning or a request to download something on this site instead of the Tammy Blog do not download or click on anything.

Close your browser and then email or Tweet me that it happened. Same goes for any general outage. Two things may have happened Sunday. First, I uploaded the Weekend Update podcast from my hotel’s wifi. That may have corrupted a file which caused the regular outage which we corrected. Secondly, there was a spike in traffic after the Delaware Tea Party as I gave out the site address and peeps were watching on the TPE stream. We’re still trying to determine if that certain spike affected anything or if there was in fact a DOS attack against us during and after the Tea Party.

Either way, we’re on it, and thank you for your patience. We know as things get hotter and the left gets angrier we may experience more of these issues. As you you know, we’re also upgrading the Tammy Blog part of which will include additional methods with which to handle increased traffic and/or directed attacks on the site.

Now for Monday’s Tammy Radio, I had hoped that our fill-in project would be ready to launch but alas, I’m afraid it’s not. So tomorrow’s Tammy Radio will be a Best Of as I’ll be in the air on my way home. Tuesday’s Election Day show, of course, will be live, the chatroom will be up early and stay up, we will have an open thread all day, I will also be doing election coverage with Johnny at KABC from 730pm-9pm PT at www.kabc.com and 790 on the AM dial in Southern California.

Thank you all so much for your support. I will now go get some sleep πŸ™‚

UPDATE Monday:

Re site: Have seen your additional messages re the virus warning. Here’s the latest: Most of the reports are pre-our fixing of the site last night at about 11pm ET. If you receive a warning now 1) please take a screenshot and email it to me, and 2) with the site registering as clear they think your *cache* may be bringing up an old version of the site. Please clear your cache & history just to be extra safe. They are still investigating what happened and how but we do have the all clear. There is a sense now it may be related to a hack responding the Tea Party coverage *or* there is something going on throughout WordPress in the world when it comes to code attacking WP files. When I have more I’ll share it. Thanks πŸ™‚

Re Tammy Radio: Dan Riehl of Riehl World View has been kind enough to agree to do occasional fill in for the show. I was hoping today would be his debut, but unfortunately due to techie issue in this end (considering all that has been going on) it was not meant to be. But I am determined to get you to hear him sooner than later πŸ™‚ Also, please check out his blog, and he’s writing now for Brietbart’s Big sites. You can also follow him on Twitter @DanRiehl

I got a site that masqueraded as a Windows XP Security warning that told me to load some software that would remove 7 viruses and other similar things. I knew I should have taken a screen shot before I safely navigated away. I told my husband when this happened that your site had been hacked. Sheesh. And I knew the Left wingers had been responsible. They are so ruthless and petty. Godspeed to a conservative majority.

Count me in as #6, or add one to whatever number you have by now. While I didn’t take a screen cap, I did write down the address that the security warning was trying to send me to and then I went hunting because I figured that something wasn’t right. As I couldn’t find the address in any search engine, I figured it was a DOS attack – not unexpected.
In any event, I will e-mail you the link so that you can have your tech people do their thing with it.

Just for this they should lose another half-dozen Senate seats!!

tammy, when i surf i use 3 browsers at the same time, with about 30 tabs opened in each browser, so last nite when i got a pop up page that encouraged me to download some stupid virus checker thingy, which i’ve seen before, i left that page and thought nothing of it since i’d seen it before and wasn’t riled about seeing it again. i didn’t realize right away which site was causing it, but after i read your post here today, i thought back about it, and it hit me, that it WAS your site that had opened that popup window…it’s prolly just someone putting something on the main server inside your site directory, but hopefully if it was maliciously done, they’ll get the ip address and do something about it…i hope nothing on your pages was lost

In the next couple of days, I fully expect the Liberals to rage and come down on you and others, having great wrath, because they know that they have but a short time.

Some may note the above is adapted from a biblical reference to the devil, but I do believe such a reference is applicable at this time.

Keep fighting the good fight Tammy!

I had about the same experience and reaction as lawmom90 reported above. I figured that your site had been hacked and redirected to a site that was malicious. As I was exiting the site my AVG Internet Security software generated a warning that the site contained malicious content.

I am inclined to believe that this was a result of someone attacking your site, rather than just a result of an overload of normal traffic.

Regarding that lib ad with the scary words PRESIDENT PALIN. . .anyone old enough to remember when Laugh-In made a joking reference to a future PRESIDENT REGAN?

  9. thierry says:

Flash=Fail. always has, always will. Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader are two of the biggest security problems easily exploited on any platform.

a total liberal melt down. hang on for the bumpy ride.

Just wanted to chime in here that I also had same experience with virus warning as lawmom90 and JHSII.
I reported my experience in detail to [email protected].

It seems others were also affected; Local radio was off schedule too.
