So I went to YouTube to see Austin Scott’s delivery. He was so scared he only blinked 3 times! That’s like holding your breath with your eyes. Wow. Also, in another YouTube clip entitled “Was Government Bailout a Temporary Fix for GM?” he is being interviewed with another Republican for FoxNews, and I get the feeling that this guy is a pushover. He’d better get a spine, or he’s out at the next elections.
BTW, Sydney’s happy dog face is adorable.
Austin Scott did fine. I like the fact these guys (and gals) are uncomfortable and unpolished.. I would be the same way under those circumstances… in a way, it makes them seem more sincere and real. I liked it when Jan Brewer froze up. I liked Bobby Jindal’s speech. I liked Bob McDonnell’s acceptance speech. There are those of us regular people who can relate to the halting speech and awkward presentation: most of us are not in the performance or media industries, we just try and do our job well. I may be a reacting to the slick presentation styles of Obama, Edwards and The Clintons. The farther we get away from style and focus on the substance, the sooner we get out of this mess. Let’s see what Austin Scott does at his job over the next few years before we throw him in with the mushy middle.
Just saying, can’t judge the content of a man’s character by his speechifying.
