In discussing the rise of obesity, I would also point out that, with the force of law and coercion coming down on the heads of smokers…well, human beings being what they are, as the cigarettes diminish, the eating commences. No, this isn’t the only factor. But it’s worthy of mention.

I’m not a smoker. But the campaign against smokers troubles me, in that this cause is regarded as so “good” as to allow for coercion that rises to the level of tyranny. This isn’t about health; it’s about learning to be controlled. For example, why can’t cigarette companies advertise? Is this not censorship, and an offense against the 1st Amendment? And a bar or restaurant owner should decide his smoking policy, not the government. And the latest trend is to ban smoking in open air areas. Yes, smoking is bad. But so is tyranny. And I don’t think we’re any healthier now that nobody smokes and everyone’s fat. We may be more pleasing to the nose, but less pleasing to the eye.

I miss smoking. I would smoke in my sleep if I could, but I always wanted to stop. I have never met a smoker who did not want to stop. It is an awful addiction. The pressure that has been placed on smokers from both a social and legislative framework in ways made it easier to quit smoking.. to hit a ‘smoking bottom’. Now, I am not a fan of legislating behavior an individual can control, but smoking, like any other addiction, is for most smokers, out of their control. In that case, when one is out of control, we have an obligation to them to help them ‘hit their bottom’.

    Tammy,
as you become more popular and doing more TV and speeches, your podcasts become less predictable. I hope you continue to get more exposure. It is a very good thing for America and Tams.
What would help, if on your web site,, or tams page, posted your schedule so we know when and what to expect. Might make it easier to see you on on those other venues.
Hope it feels like a positive, not a negative comment, that is what is intended.
    Thanks for everything.
    Meow and moo

That’s a very good point, well taken. We’re working on a variety of ways to make everything go a lot smoother and I appreciate you noticing and the suggestion.

Tammy, Thak you for your consideration. It os especially remarkable to get a quick thoughtful reply . Very rare, in a fast paced world. Thank you.
My husband made me a Tam for Christmas, and now we both enjoy your show. A day without Tam is a day without sunshine!
Have a great Easter weekend and keep up the great work.

I too was a smoker for over 20 years. The only time that quitting worked was when I REALLY WANTED TO QUIT. Maybe we cheated, but Mike and I chose the GODAWFUL FLU of 1998 method. So sick for 3 weeks, then developed temporary asthma.
THE GOVERNMENT NANNY STATE has NO BUSINESS in ANYONE’S personal life.
Love you Tammy- you are fighting OUR fight. Hope your Easter is good.
OH, BTW, LOVED 2081- hope u got to keep the clothes AND the gun!!!

    Tammy-

About HUCKABEE. As Governor of Arkansas for 12 Years, Huckabee was a “BIG GOVERNMENT, TAX & SPEND, OPEN BORDERS LIBERAL, who transformed himself to an anti-tax, secure the borders, conservative, when he campaigned for the Republican nomination in the last presidential election. This man is a very big PHONY. The fact that he is poling well as a potential 2012 republican nominee is DISGUSTING. KUDOS TO GLEN BECK FOR ATTACKING THIS CREEP. Best Regards, Jungleboy

Jst heard this podcast today (4/22) I listen to Beck on the radio most mornings. I think it is an entertaining show. (I’ve never seen his tv show) The other day Beck was just going over a list of potential candidates for the GOP and giving his thoughts about them. He mentioned Huckabee and said he was a progressive. (Beck loves Allen West by the way) So, then Huckabee comes out with his retort. The interesting thing was Huckabee was using talking points that media matters has used against Beck (cancer, and Nazi’s) I thought that was interesting about Mr. Huckabee. (Ok dn’t call me a conspiracy theorist!) 😉

  7. Brontefan says:

First, I do not like the Food Police! I resent being told by my government what to eat, how much to eat, what to drink, etc. Having stated this.. I listen to Glenn Beck and actually agree that our Nutritionist-in-Chief needs to get out of our lives. I resent her interference. But what I find more irritating is that NO ONE is mentioning the growth hormones being fed to our animals that are going to be our meat. If you don’t address this.. the other obesity issues are superfluous. I agree with you about physical education and our entire school system which is also RUN by the government. Huckabee is a Progressive. And when Huckabee used Media Matters–to engage in the rhetorical battle, it does appear that Huckabee is a liberal. Growth hormones being fed to our animals which will become dinner–is a problem no one is addressing. And why not, if our Dept. of Agriculture has a million employees?
I resent the First Family living like KINGS while TELLING us what to do!
