Just a little treat ๐Ÿ™‚

Regarding the NY Times and “Atlantic” stories on the Palin “tragedy” I discuss in this podcast here are those two links. Remember, they need us to accept their premise because they are now realizing the strength of Governor Palin’s work in Alaska as a reformer, for her entire 20 years in politics. There’s no way to counter the truth of her strength and success as a reformer except to pretend that person doesn;t exist any more. Good luck, boys, because there is something that’s not going to exist in 2012–and it’s called the Entrenched Elite.

Atlantic: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin

And Douthat reinforcing the Atlantic’s new meme:

The good thing about the Atlantic article is that it details Palin’s accomplishments as Governor – work that shines no matter what light is put on it – and gets that info out there to more people. I’ve been blathering about the need for that for months.

Tammy here is the list so far of O4P states on twitter more to come. [link redacted but Ms. Bruce has tweeted the link]

You were talking about Huckabee raising taxes did you know Daniels raised taxes on businesses to cover health care cost in his state? Also Christie has his own type of Romneycare and has received many from Obama’s Health Care law. Levin was talking about it Friday on his show.

About Huckabee, I hope he doesn’t use his show now as a platform to bash Gov. Palin. I hope I am wrong but that is the feeling I get. Just don’t trust him at all.

Was it his replay of the David Letterman Palin Home explosion that convinced you? Or other tacky actions on his part that made me boycott him long ago? *rhetorical, of course* He makes my skin crawl!!

    Thanks Tammy!

I was wondering if Huckabee might endorse a candidate. I doubt it since that could hurt his ratings.

  15. geezer says:

I totally don’t get where the “tragedy” in the Atlantic article exists, except in the title. Great article with new things to admire about Sarah Palin.

They seem to express great disappointment that she didn’t run John McCain’s machine-led presidential campaign along the same lines that made her so successful in Alaska. But hey it wasn’t her campaign to lead.

She wasn’t top of the ticket, she was the second banana and she lined up for good or for bad with the strategery of the boss who invited her to the dance. Lamentable? Maybe, but she learned some valuable lessons and is very visibly a stronger person today for it. That wasn’t her time to lead, now is.

If only they could (or would) allow for that distinction between Sarah the VP-candidate on someone else’s ticket versus the Sarah who was speaking for herself in Alaska politics and is again speaking for herself in everything that followed since the end of the McCain campaign.

By the end of the Atlantic article I am not depressed for Sarah Palin nor what could have been. I am cheering for her.

  16. lord-ruler says:

O.k here is my post. Lets hope it doesn’t turn into a train wreck. : ) I am glad Huckabee is out. The problem I had with him is that he said a lot of things from the political podium that are reserved for the pulpit in church. Huckabee had Christian compassion on the criminals but as the chief executive of his state his job was not to give compassion but to enforce the laws passed by the people. I don’t disagree with his thinking that criminals must be given compassion but that is done on an individual basis person to person. Not a society as a whole. The government can only provide justice when a criminal act is involved. While I might technically agree with some of his other statement on social isssues he had no busininess saying them as a politician. If he wanted to say them as a clergyman that is fine with me. He can’t be both at the same time.

I may be way off here but I think Jon Huntsman Jr. will benefit just as much as Palin now that Huckabee is gone. He is not as moderate as he is made out to be. Much is made out of the fact that he supports civil unions for gays but that is probably what a majority of conservatives support. Even though he was more moderate than the legislature on this issue he was actually pretty close to the position taken by the Mormon church. It is not very well known but the church backed a bill in Salt lake banning discrimination against gays they have also said gays should have rights to visit in hospitals etc which is tantamount to a civil union. Utah is just very conservative therefore Huntsman looks like a moderate. Yes he did serve for Barack Obama but he had lots of reasons for doing so. One of them may have been to benefit his fathers brand new plant in China. During his time over there the Mormon church made a deal with china the details aren’t known and there was a denial that Huntsman had anything to do with it but I am not so sure. [link redacted for new security rules, pls post at TAMWire if you like] This is just speculation but I also think Huntsman may very well have done it out of patriotic duty. If you have read his dads book you can easily see him doing something like that out of a simple desire to serve. I may be wrong on all 3 of these things. : ) I would like to see Huntsman explain why he did not say anything when Obama used the Arizona law to tell the Chinese “look we are bad too”. Did he object to it or not? Now that Evangelicals don’t have “their guy” Huckabee it will be easier for them to vote for someone else. Don’t forget that Glenn Beck has made a lot of inroads with Evangelicals and made it easier for an Evangelical to be seen with a Mormon these days. I might have a skewed reading of this since I was born and raised in Utah but maybe there is some insight here that maybe you didn’t know about before.
