Heh. Sweet.
At an event in London, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said, “I’m looking forward to the bust of Winston Churchill being in the Oval Office again.”

President Obama famously sent Churchill’s bust back to Britain soon after coming into office. As the Telegraph reported then:
A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government’s art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.
The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush’s tenure.
But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: “Thanks, but no thanks.”
I grieved when the bust of Winston Churchill was returned by the current administration. I look forward to having it welcomed back!
They should display this bust prominently in the Oval Office, right next to bin Laden’s head.
I am still waiting for an explanation from El Presidente’ exactly why he saw fit to have it removed from the White House in the first place.

Correction to myself: There are TWO busts. The one in the Oval Office was ‘on loan’ and by custom all ‘loaned art’ is removed, by staff, when there is a change and returned to the original owners. The 2nd one is still, it’s said, on display in the residence.
Rubbing my paws together in delight.
Obama is all for a bust of Churchill in the Oval Office – Ward Churchill…
I’m sure the Queen is looking forward to recieving a REAL state gift instead of an Ipod loaded with Obummer’s speeches.
