This is a great idea. As you know, Fiorina was an early favorite of mine and I think the pairing is excellent. My concern is timing. If this happened a month ago it would have been even more powerful, today it has the risk of feeling like a gimmick. Fiorina endorsed Cruz 7 weeks ago. It should have happened then, moving quickly is clearly important. Fiorina has a style and gravitas that fills in some blanks within the Cruz campaign. It adds a jolt, but we’ll know next Tuesday in Indiana if it makes a difference.

As a conservative I’m very excited that so many talented people want to lead this nation and are willing to fight for it. We must get it right in November.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz picked Carly Fiorina to be his running mate if he earns the Republican nomination.

“After a great deal of time and thought, after a great deal of consideration and prayer, I have come to the conclusion that if I am nominated to be president of the United States that I will run on a ticket with my vice presidential nominee Carly Fiorina,” Cruz said at a rally in Indianapolis. “Born in Texas — very first thing I liked about her —Cara Carleton Fiorina, known throughout the country simply by the name of Carly, is an extraordinary leader.”

In the aftermath of five losses to Donald Trump in the Northeast on Tuesday, Cruz looked to reset the news cycle in Indiana ahead of the Hoosier State’s primary next week, teasing a 4 p.m. “major announcement” the next day.

Speculation that Cruz would announce Fiorina as his vice presidential pick bubbled up in recent days amid reports that the Cruz campaign was vetting her. This reporting intensified Wednesday and leaked out before the decision was formally made public.

While most vice presidential picks are done with the general election in mind, Cruz’s selection indicates he’s also looking for someone who can help him beat back Trump in the primary. Cruz may not have a shot at earning the nomination on a first ballot at the GOP convention, but Fiorina’s presence may help him gain delegates in upcoming primaries such as California…

It does strike as too little too late, but on the flip side, Carly as a Westerner, may not have helped in the recent Acela primaries and then the pairing would be seen as rejected prior to Indiana and California. This may cause Trump to be more careful in his VP selection. Regardless, Carly is a great addition to politics. Great followup to Geraldine F.

I thought that too about her roots, but they’re both Texans! She’s originally from Texas, and then of course CA. I’m not so sure the regional relevance of a VP candidate matters as much as it used to. And this whole cycle is breaking all the rules anyway.

Just finished watching and listening to Carly’s interview on the Kelly Show. Now here is a person who is thoughtful, quick witted and then speaks in complete English sentences to express her thoughts and opinions. (Like someone we know, eh TAMS?).

‘Trump and Clinton’: two sides of the same corroded, worn out coin.

This is an example of how the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. As a team, I see this working very well. On the other hand, unless Trump nominates someone very conservative, I won’t be as enthusiastic to vote for him as for this ticket. I didn’t find the announcement gimmicky at all. This was a good move and it may force Trump to announce his running mate before the convention if he doesn’t get the delegates he needs.

I was very surprised and pleased to see how well Carly did on the podium — not only she was articulate, but she felt genuine, much better than at the beginning of the campaign.

This announcement may seem like a Hail Mary pass with 3 seconds left on the clock, but the primary season is all about delegates, not about popular vote. If Trump doesn’t have 1237 on the first ballot, I don’t think he’ll win on the second round.
