CNN on ObamaCare at SCOTUS: “This was a train wreck for the Obama administration,”
by Tammy on March 27, 2012**Key audio added from today's proceedings** What an apt description. In fact, Obama has been a train wreck for this entire nation for 3 1/2 years, so this disaster would manifest itself in everything he's done. Nice to hear some honesty out of CNN on this issue as well. We have one more day with a decision not until probably June, so this is far from over, but so far it's looking good.

Why Obamacare is Illegal (and Why it Matters)
by Maynard on March 27, 2012Bumped up from October, 2010. This was posted over a year ago as the challenge to Obamacare passed a major hurdle on its way to today's hearings with SCoTUS. Some of the nuances being discussed, such as the distinction between a "tax" and a "penalty" and a "mandate", may seem like details to the layman, since they all compel you to pay. But under the Constitution, the government's powers are limited, at least in theory. Thus these distinctions are important.

Update on Dick Cheney’s Heart Transplant Recuperation
by Tammy on March 26, 2012Finally this great man has received his heart transplant. He actually had to wait longer than usual due to his age, but all has gone well, with his doctors noting things went by the book during the surgery. That’s great news. I think it’s fair to say everything we liked about the George W. Bush presidency we owe to Vice President Cheney. Dick Cheney is not alone in being a great American–his entire family constantly makes us proud and hopeful for the future. Liz Cheney, as an example, would be a fabulous Attorney General or Director of Homeland Security. Now doesn’t that make you smile? đ Here are a few updates and the response from Liz to my Tweet from...

Dr. Who? FDA Considers Self-diagnosis and OTC Meds
by Pat_S on March 9, 2012Maybe Dr. You. Several over-the-counter (OTC) drugs such as Prilosec and Claritin were once prescription only. Even ibuprofen was originally a prescription drug. OTC drugs are typically for short term use where symptoms are easily identifiable. The FDA is now considering allowing drugs such as blood pressure and cholesterol medication to be switched to OTC. It’s all for the good of the public of course. The drug companies are in favor of the proposal. Think of all those idiots buying drugs they don’t need. Insurance providers (ahem, Obamacare) would save a bundle on doctor visits and prescription costs. To help the consumer, in-store self-help kiosks are envisioned. You can work yourself through a programmed decision tree until you get to...

“Lie of the Year”–Liberal Attacks on Paul Ryan’s Medicare Proposal
by Tammy on December 20, 2011When liberals open their pie holes they’re lying, so it’s just nice to see it being in print. At the same time it’s important to note that “Politifact,” the entity that declares the “Lie of the Year,” is considered by many to have at least a liberal bias, having attacked Republicans for the last couple of years running specifically on the health care issue. Funny what happens when some sense a change in the wind coming. The claim that House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryanâs budget would end Medicare is the âlie of the year,â according to the fact-checking website Politifact. According to Politifactâs analysis, saying the Ryan plan âends Medicareâ overlooks the fact that its changes would not affect...

David Cameron: Everyone To Be A Research Patient
by Pat_S on December 6, 2011The health care records of British citizens will be turned over to anyone who has an interest in the data. PM David Cameron thinks it would be a waste not to. Everyone ‘to be research patient’, says David Cameron Every NHS patient should be a “research patient” with their medical details “opened up” to private healthcare firms, says David Cameron. In a speech in London Mr Cameron said he would consult on changing the NHS constitution, which governs how the the health service is run, so that all patients’ data is used for medical research unless they want to opt out. The Prime Minister said it was “simply a waste” to have a health service like the NHS and not...

Newsmax Column: Merck’s Prescription for Profit: HPV Vaccine for Young Boys
by Tammy on October 26, 2011My new column has posted at Newsmax, please do take a look and spread the word đ Thanks. It’s an analysis of why suddenly Merck receives CDC approval for use of the controversial “Gardasil” in boys, as deaths and major side effects from the drug are finally exposed, Merck cuts its workforce by 30% because of declining revenue, and Gardasil profits are significantly declining each year. Now, the CDC hands them an entirely new ‘customer’ base, to be paid for by health insurance. What a pay day! Merck’s Prescription for Profit: HPV Vaccine for Young Boys

New NY Rep Turner Orders Scrubbing of Weiner Office
by Tammy on September 16, 2011(From the wonderfully talented Christoph Niemann) Use bleach. Oh, and they found a personalized toothbrush with “Anthony” emblazoned on it. Blech. Weiner gets âbrushâoff Scrub out the stench of Weiner! Newly sworn-in Republican Rep. Bob Turnerâs family ordered a thorough cleaning of the House office space he inherited from his disgraced predecessor, Anthony Weiner, after finding an old âAnthonyââ toothbrush in the bathroom. The discovery of Weiner toiletries grossed out the newcomers, who requested that the congressmanâs bathroom in Office 2104 of the Rayburn building be sanitized, sources said. Weiner resigned in June amid a sexting scandal in which he tweeted crotch shots and naked photos to young women, including from an office chair. âWeiner left his toothbrush behind! It...

You Met SB1070 Last Year; Now, Meet SB1593
by Artgal on April 19, 2011It was this time last year when Arizonans and many throughout the country waited to see what Gov. Jan Brewer would do regarding SB1070. We received that answer on April 23, 2010. By April 21, 2011, we will see if Arizona will once again lead the nation in establishing true freedom of choice in health insurance by inviting business across state lines. SB1593 would open up a free market solution in health insurance options with other states as pointed out by Tom Jenney from Americans For Prosperity in the following post: http://www.americansforprosperity.org/041511-tell-gov-brewer-let-my-people-go-urgent (I urge you all to pass his information and pdf file along). Some concern has also been raised about the bill even among those who supported it. AZ State Rep. Terri Proud introduced...

Unapproved Consquences of FDA Approval
by Pat_S on March 13, 2011A post by Pat An inexpensive synthetic form of the hormone progesterone was used for decades without FDA approval in hormone replacement therapy and more recently as a drug to reduce the risk of premature delivery. It was custom made inexpensively by compounding pharmacies and sold for around $15 per injection. After winning FDA exclusive approval, KV Pharmaceuticals will now be charging $1,500 per injection. The company never incurred R&D costs. It has not yet performed any clinical trials normally required by the FDA. The company is profiteering from an FDA policy to get rid of unapproved drugs. FDA Targets Unapproved Drugs Tackling the problem of unapproved drugs, said Steven K. Galson, director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and...

The Art of Freeloading
by Pat_S on February 13, 2011A post by Pat Recent reports that Obamacare will result in the loss of 800,000 jobs are misleading and Media Matters wants to point out the truth. Those 800,000 workers will voluntarily choose not to work because health care will cost less or even be free for them courtesy of the government. In other words, those jobs won’t be killed, just the incentive to work. Nancy Pelosi expected it. Pelosi’s Pampered Artists The millions of people who work to pay all their bills can pick up the tab. 800,000 Fewer Workers ‘The freedom to choose not to get a job’ Speaking Thursday before the House Budget Committee, the Congressional Budget Office director estimated that ObamaCare will cause the labor force...

They Did It. FDA Bans Breast Cancer Drug Avastin
by Tammy on December 22, 2010All the cowards wait until the end of December. ObamaCare rationing begins. Ironically, the FDA’s banning of Avastin happens on the same day it’s European counterpart officially approved its use. Make no mistake, this decision was one about cost for those who are terminally ill and fighting for another chance, or another 6 months. Remember–when people are the budget… I believe the new Congress can walk and chew gum at the same time. There are many things they need to do, but at the very top of the list must be the complete repeal of the evil obscenity of ObamaCare. (HT to @gerfingerpoken at Twitter). Please read the entire IBD editorial, below is just a snippet. BTW, if you can...

Federal Judge in VA Declares ObamaCare Unconstitutional
by Tammy on December 13, 2010Here’s the linkage, and of course I will discuss all the details on Tammy Radio. This care relates to the Virginia challenge (thanks Virginia!!). Next Thursday a judge in Florida hears arguments in the challenge brought by 20 states. This is a good start but we have a long way to go. More soon. WSJ: Judge Calls Health Law Unconstitutional A federal judge ruled Monday that a central plank of the health law violates the Constitution, dealing the biggest setback yet to the Obama administration’s signature legislative accomplishment. In a 42-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson said the law’s requirement that most Americans carry insurance or pay a penalty “exceeds the constitutional boundaries of congressional power.” […] Judge...

Gov. Christie: A Positive Note in a Sea of Dysfunction
by Maynard on September 12, 2010A meandering rant by Maynard Like Tammy, I’ve got personal health insurance through Anthem. I pay the premium out of my own pocket. My policy is there to protect me from disaster. I’ve never had a disaster (partly by grace of God and partly because I try to stay out of trouble), so I’ve never met my deductible. All of my routine medical stuff is, like my premium, paid for out of my own pocket. I guess that makes me a good citizen and/or a good risk. So here’s the thanks I, and people like me, get. On October 1, my premium jumps by 19%. Anthem sent me a nice letter explaining why this is necessary. They cite several reasons;...

FDA Plan To Test Safety of Gulf Seafood? The Smell Test
by Tammy on August 3, 2010Yes, that’s right. Seafood from the gulf will be deemed safe if some guy comes by, smells it, and says it smells okay. Gulf seafood must pass the smell test That’s right. I can see this implemented in so many other ways. You go into an Emergency Room because you have chest pain. They’re jammed (it’s so tough to fit all those Spanish language interpreters in there!) and you walk up to the Obama DeathCare Assessment Desk. If you’re under 50 and look like there’s still some tax generating left in you, you get directed to take a number to see a doctor. In probably 6-8 hours (Hey! don’t complain, at least it’s the same day! Ungrateful peasant!). If you’re...
