Breaking: Obama to Nominate Kagan To Supreme Court
by Tammy on May 9, 2010NBC: Obama to name Kagan for high court President Barack Obama will nominate U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan to serve as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, NBC News’ Pete Williams reported late Sunday night. Kagan, 50, served as the Dean of Harvard Law School from 2003 to 2009. Obama nominated her to serve in her current post as solicitor general early in 2009, and she won Senate confirmation by a vote of 61-31. She is the first woman to serve as solicitor general of the United States. She was widely viewed as a front-runner when Obama was considering candidates for a Supreme Court opening last year, but the president ultimately chose Sonia Sotomayor for the job. Fox...

300 Terrorists Trials Blamed and Created
by Pat_S on February 5, 2010A post by Pat I was really surprised to hear DOJ claim 300 terrorists were tried in civilian courts under the Bush administration. I remembered the exchange between Holder and Lindsey Graham back in November over the KSM trial. The “We’re making history here” exchange. Graham asked Holder how many enemy combatants caught on the battlefield had been tried in civilian courts. Holder was stumped. He said he’d have to check. Sen. Graham informed him the answer is zero. Now the administration is saying 300 terrorists were tried in civilian courts. Surprise, but the Obama administration is playing with the numbers. If you count “terror-related” crimes, like financial fraud, you get 100’s of civilian cases. If you mean enemy combatants...

Dumb Bastard Wakes Up, Orders NYC Terror Trials Moved
by Tammy on January 28, 2010Thank you Massachusetts. White House orders Justice Department to look for other places to hold 9/11 terror trial White House officials have told the Justice Department to consider other venues for the 9/11 terror trial that was to be held in lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned. The decision came after Mayor Bloomberg and other politicians across the state railed against President Obama’s plan to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Manhattan Federal Court. Attorney General Eric Holder now has to think of other places where the trial could take place, officials said. It was not immediately clear if the reassessment means the trial will definitely be moved out of the city. I don’t think this “other venues” order means...

Outrageous!: Biden assures Iraqis US will appeal dismissal of Blackwater charges
by Pat_S on January 23, 2010A post by Pat Watch your back if you are putting your life on the line for this country. No one who is placed in a hostile environment doing work for our country can count on their own government’s loyalty. In 2007 the accused Blackwater security guards were guarding U.S. diplomats in Iraq. A shootout occurred and seventeen people were killed. The incident spurred anti-American sentiment among Iraqis. Five of the guards were charged with manslaughter and a guilty plea taken from the sixth. The men had their day in court. The evidence was murky. The judge ruled the justice department mishandled the evidence and violated the men’s Constitutional rights. The dismissal angered Iraqis so now, for misguided malicious policy...

Judge Dismisses All Charges Against Blackwater
by Tammy on December 31, 2009You may remember the beginning of this persecution of Blackwater, an entity made up primarily of ex-military, contracted by the US government to provide security in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other theatres of war. They are, IMHO, one of the hero groups which has helped to keep this nation safe. Well, we have some very good news about an all too familiar prosecutions by our own “justice department” against those who have the courage to face down the enemy and simply do their job. This time, like the majority of other times, a judge has dismissed all charges and includes very harsh words for the prosecutors. Judge dismisses all charges in Blackwater shooting A federal judge on Thursday threw out...

The Case of the Lying Judge
by Pat_S on July 15, 2009A post by Pat Today at Sotomayor’s confirmation hearing Al Franken had an attack of nostalgia for the old Perry Mason shows. How cool, as he puts it, that he and Sotomayor, who sat watching the same show simultaneously, across the distance of time and space, should meet today under such profound circumstances. Yes, unimaginable. Sotomayor was inspired to become a lawyer and a judge. Franken became a clown and a Senator. Only in America. Too bad Perry Mason isn’t on the Senate Judiciary Committee to get to the truth. Alas, no last minute confessions will be heard. The Constitution is about to be murdered.
