In 2007 the accused Blackwater security guards were guarding U.S. diplomats in Iraq. A shootout occurred and seventeen people were killed. The incident spurred anti-American sentiment among Iraqis. Five of the guards were charged with manslaughter and a guilty plea taken from the sixth. The men had their day in court. The evidence was murky. The judge ruled the justice department mishandled the evidence and violated the men’s Constitutional rights. The dismissal angered Iraqis so now, for misguided malicious policy reasons, the men may face another trial.
Biden assures Iraqis that US will appeal dismissal of Blackwater charges in 2007 shooting
The U.S. will appeal a court decision dismissing manslaughter charges against five Blackwater Worldwide guards involved in a deadly 2007 Baghdad shooting, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Saturday.
Biden’s announcement after a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani shows just how diplomatically sensitive the incident remains nearly three years later. A lawyer for one guard, noting that word of the intended appeal came in Iraq, accused the Obama administration of political expediency and the U.S. was pursuing an innocent man, rather than justice.
Blackwater security contractors were guarding U.S. diplomats when the guards opened fire in Nisoor Square, a crowded Baghdad intersection, on Sept. 16, 2007. Seventeen people were killed, including women and children, in a shooting that inflamed anti-American sentiment in Iraq.
Biden expressed his “personal regret” for the shooting and said the Obama administration was disappointed by the dismissal. “A dismissal is not an acquittal,” he said.
White House officials said the U.S. Justice Department decided on the appeal and that Biden’s trip was not intended to be way it would be announced.
Once again Big Mouth Bigger Ego Biden has to blurt out something. I’m glad he did. You know darn well Obama and Holder knew this is dynamite and were trying to figure out how to handle it. Didn’t they just see what happens when the American people get angry? Do they really want to make us crazy?
What happened to the protection against double jeopardy?
Jeopardy doesn’t attach until there’s a verdict in the trial. Since the charges were dismissed by the trial judge, the government is perfectly free to appeal and have them re-instated. Sad but true. This whole deal might be despicable but it’s perfectly legal.
there’s no double jeopardy with holder and obambi’s ‘social justice’. in fact there are no constitutional rights under ‘ social justice’ for certain people because they say so.
Charges were dropped BEFORE going to trial. Double jeopardy forbids a defendant from being TRIED twice for the same offense.
Addendum -after completed trial resulting in acquittal or conviction.
Jeapordy (answer is framed in the form of a question): What is the same thing that happened to the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Right & Wrong, uh, and et cetera.
Biden has offered more confirmation that Obama desires non-existent constitutional protections for our enemies while denying those same legitimate protections for our nation’s defenders. Draw your own conclusion. As for Iraq,Get over it! How many more people would be dead today with Saddam still in power?
they just do not get it. it’s really quite simple- the ‘stupid mob like morons’ who placed scott brown on teddy’s regal throne understand the constitution. we like the constitution. we like being americans because we are free and have certain listed protections and rights and are promised an unbiased justice. we understand we are the ‘ people’ in ‘we the people’. we created this thing these malicious hacks are trying to destroy .soldiers and their operatives protect the constitution and us. we like the soldiers. no country remains free and strong without warriors .
we know what they’re doing. we’ve been telling them we do not like it over and over.

this is the administration using biden to shield barry from flack for more of the crap we are over them pulling. ” uh barry i think they might be uh mad about health care…uh…”. ok . ‘ quick pivot’ to demonizing the military, the banks or any other of their sacred liberal punching bags.
i do not think barry is capable of a clintonian pull to the right. he’s a lap dog, an expendable lap dog for those who put him in an office he has no business being in. he’s toto ,damn it, and he ain’t giving up his ideological chew toys because they’re all he’s got. good. it will sink the democrats for certain in the next election- a worry because brown sunk health care for them earlier than imagined- and for the next potus term.
it’s ok barry everyone knows now: everything you touch is EPIC FAIL.
These charges will be dismissed again or even aquitted this time making these children in this administration look even more foolish than they have been up to this point. And as Pat notes, it will really anger most Americans……many of us are getting damn tired of these attacks on American citizens by these mutts in the Obama nuthouse…….

Hmmm….Barry’s policies seem to be exactly what the leader of the National Chair of the Communist Party USA espouses (see, there IS a “third party”). The article above is from 6 months ago and describes exactly what Barry and his minions are doing to us. There is no surprise here of why he does this and why he does that. The point IS to bring America to its knees.

How dare he! Who the hell does he think he is preaching about what Senator Brown did some 30 years ago (Cosmo layout). Nobody wants to see Glenn’s naked pasty ass I bet. I have been a Beck supporter – but as of the last 2 years or so, have, like Tammy, found him “interesting” – but this is way beyond. I went into a major rage when I saw this last night and sent like 15 tweets in a row about it. Aloof, disgusting, jealous, holier than thow creep. No understanding whatsoever for what a fight it was to bring Brown to the Senate.
