Who listens to talk radio? To find out, Carol Costello went to bitter-clingy central PA, hopped a ride in a local’s pickup truck and listened to cowboy hatted local WHP host Bob Durgin (He rants and raves!). Then she asked a psychiatrist.

“Anger in the Air, What listeners don’t know about talk radio”. Since I’m an avid listener I wanted to find out what it is I don’t know about talk radio. I still don’t know, unless it’s that it’s all about anger and that listeners are looking to befriend a bully.

Today, Tammy spoke about what’s “normal” depends on your point of view. That’s why Fox News is biased in the eyes of liberals, but not CNN. From CNN’s point of view the secret behind talk radio’s success is the intoxicant of anger that appeals to conservative personality types. Yes, I’m angry. I’m not an angry person; I’m a person who is angry. Bullies scare me. Bullies like ACORN, SEIU, the White House and Congressional Democrats. That’s partly what’s making me angry.

Carol was delighted by Bob’s analysis of liberal talk radio—too compassionate. Compassion is a badge of honor for liberals and you can never be too compassionate. Randi Rhodes doesn’t think compassion is undermining the success of liberals on the air. It’s that they’re not on the air all that much. It’s obvious to Rhodes that liberal talk radio would be much more popular if only there was more of it. Brilliant.

The post report chitchat was revealing. Kiran Chetry noted that some of the listeners are angry at talk radio. Great point, says Carol. In fact, she says, 56% of listeners are independent. Ah!, but what does she mean by that? Do 56% of listeners disagree with talk radio? Should we ask Randi to figure it out?

CNN posted some reactions to this report.

I’m not an angry person; I’m a person who is angry.” More than a subtle distinction and Precisely Pat in its simple clarity. Newsbusters’ Mike Balan psychoanalyzed CNN’s psychoanalysis. Oh, and remember the news last August when CNN banned talk radio hosts from the air. “Complex issues require world class reporting,” CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein is quoted as saying, adding that talk radio hosts too often add to the noise, and that what they say is “all too predictable.” Pat, hope you will post and update as this CNN series plays out.

Costello: “So, it’s all in how you look at”. Just what Tammy was talking about.

Thanks for the link. Good to know where those numbers came from. I’m not surprised to learn the psychiatrist’s political leanings. Pat’s 5-cent psychiatry—she was projecting when she spoke about power by proxy.

One of the primary reasons we cherish a democracy is the acknowledgement that people see things differently. The intolerance from the Obama gang toward opposing views is a serious threat to democracy. It’s the trademark of leftwing extremism.

so… it’s inferred that conservatives are basically angry because of their vigorous application of free speech and because some may have yelled at the aristocracy opps i mean elected representatives at town meetings. this means free speech and freedom of opinion when openly stated is just the real and only expression of the angry and the angry are conservatives who are nazis and ‘ the enemy’.

as if anger is more evil than say, dictators like mao murdering people. that’s not ‘ angry’ or evil or wrong- that’s the sophisticated political philosophy of inspirational genius.

it’s still all about projection and power. we’re not all happily lying under obama’s bus grinning ear to ear with gratitude for being blindsided, seduced and abandoned or deprived of all the rights we thought were ours as americans. because we’re not deliriously happy we’re angry racist nazis and every analysis of anything vaguely related to O’joker must reflect this.

in russia they say that the problem with history in the soviet union was that it was always changing. the problem with real time america is that it’s not just that the truth is changing- it’s being buried, not even so very well or very deeply in real time. a relatively bright 5 year old could dig it up and see it as lies, deception. they’re acting like he’s already chairman dear leader obamao and they’re the ones really pissed off they can’t drag us from our houses and beat the crap out of us before throwing us into jail for not agreeing to our own enslavement. if we’re so angry- why is it that for all those angry words and gun carrying citizens, it’s obama’s thugs who started screaming racist insults and throwing the first punches?

anger is an energy- nothing more .it serves a purpose. it’s right to be mad, angry at injustice. what’s wrong is turning a blind eye to it- like ignoring that stalin and mao killed more people than hitler ie communists killed more people than any democracy or even fascist state on earth. what’s scarier than anger is always those who carry out the most brutal acts, cause avoidable pain and death and register no emotion, show no empathy at all . soldiers are dying- opps time for golf and a date. that about says it all. at least when people are angry it usually shows they care about something enough to be disturbed to emotion. all the obamaettes care about is the preservation and enhancement of their own power no matter who it may hurt.

So Montel Williams suggesting Michelle Bachman slit her wrists and her jugular is “compassionate” to liberals? I’d hate to hear what he’d say if he were an “angry” conservative.

It has nothing to do with anger, it’s frustration on both sides of the equation. Conservatives are Cat’s. It’s not in our nature to be herded in thought or action. Liberals are sheep, it’s their nature to be herded in thought and action. This is heart of the matter. Talk radio is the perfect vehicle for Cats. It’s a communal activity that is conducted individually. Rallys, Demonstrations and Protests, on the other hand, are the perfect venue for Liberals.

Poppycock! This Carol can’t really believe what she is entertaining us with. I listen to talk radio for other points of view, current events, and hot issues. Not just for entertainment. If she believes that she has no clue about talk radio.

I have listened to Randy Rhodes on the LA Lib station…I think it was Air America at first, perhaps still is. I was struck by the amount of venom spewing fourth. I could not get past the seething disgust she shows for any other point of view. If she’s not perpetuating lies, or venting piss and venom, she’s ridiculing anyone with a valid point on the the opposition side. Throw Janeane Garafalo in that camp as well. I heard absolutely NO compassion come from either of them. Garafalo could find racisim in a box of marbles and Global warming in a snow bank.

Lenin tipped his hand all those many years ago when he described these two (and many others) perfectly. They are the “Useful Idiots” he referred to. They drink the Koolaid, spew the party line, attack blindly, never questioning the logic. They merely carry the banner. I fail to see how they are going to improve their numbers by increasing the compassion that they now utterly lack.

I tried listening to Randi Rhodes briefly a few years ago and she just seemed to ramble on and on. I recently heard a commercial for her show where she bashed Fox News Channel for airing a reality show instead of one of the President’s primetime speeches. Uh, that was the Fox network, Randi, not FNC (which did air the President’s speech).
