You’ve got the GSA scandals, the Secret Service scandals, now this and who knows what else is out there. No wonder Obama would rather we all talk about The Gays and the faux War on Women. The environment of corruption and carelessness Obama has created throughout the federal government, including the military, is collapsing us from the inside out. Truly a horrible shame.
Stars and Stripes: Officials: Nearly $2 million in guns, combat gear sold to gangs
A wide-reaching investigation by military and civilian authorities has uncovered a criminal conspiracy within the Armed Forces to steal and sell nearly $2 million in guns and combat gear to gangs in the U.S. and foreign countries including China, military officials have confirmed.
The probe began more than a year and a half ago when agents with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service began to conduct undercover operations to disrupt and reduce the theft, transfer, sale and possession of stolen U.S. Government property. With the aid of Marine and Naval authorities, NCIS has recovered $1.8 million in stolen guns and combat gear to include assault rifles, night-vision goggles, flashlights and other items, military officials said.
Those involved are accused of stealing, over-ordering or otherwise obtaining equipment and selling guns locally and other gear over the Internet to people in foreign countries including China and Russia, officials said…
With cooperation from Marine and Navy officials, NCIS has been able to conduct 66 investigations involving 47 active duty Marines and sailors to include enlisted and high-ranking officers and 21 civilians who are now in various stages of prosecution.
NCIS agents identified stolen property from the Army and Air Force which launched numerous investigations involving soldiers and airmen, military officials confirmed.
The ever-widening probe now includes the FBI; Homeland Security; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Defense Logistics Agency; Defense Criminal Investigative Service, N.C. State Bureau of Investigations, and several local agencies including the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and the Jacksonville Police Department.
It’s ironic that the same political forces that aspire to disarm the American people are implicated in passing weapons to foreign criminals.
Gunrunners used to be reviled. To me, the irony is that as the anti-second amendment liberals have increased in power with cities ‘outlawing’ guns, the less the gunrunners are reviled. I believe the libs thinking is: it’s the U.S. citizen who thinks it’s their right to have a gun who is the problem. Gunrunners are only decreasing that opportunity helping to minimize the problem.
Additional: I believe that the end game for Fast & Furious was to implicate the gun stores, who legally sold the guns as directed by the Feds., as part of the gun running to Mexico problem. Therefore, the fix would be to have the gov’t run the gun stores (no private gun stores). Only would need one county in one border State to outlaw private gun stores and have the county sell the guns similar to how some counties (mine) sell alcohol. Argument would be that this complies with the second amendment since citizens could still purchase and own guns. And with that toe-hold, the disease would spread. Want to buy a gun? Sure, we here at the gov’t gun store have a nice 7 pound, 22 caliber, 1 chamber gun, here you go. Sorry, we don’t have any other choices, just this.
