Fields, Trump & Lewandowski

[An update to this story.]

Considering what’s been going on over there, I’m just surprised it took the alleged assault of Michelle to get them to leave. Buzzfeed notes resignations from the website are not likely to end there.

Buzzfeed has the details.

“…Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields and editor-at-large Ben Shapiro are resigning from the company over the site’s handling of Donald Trump’s campaign manager’s alleged assault on Fields, BuzzFeed News has learned.

Fields and Shapiro informed Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon of their decision Sunday night.

“Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” Fields said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News. “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week and because of that I believe it is now best for us to part ways.”

In his own statement, Shapiro said the episode was emblematic of how he believes the site’s management had sold out the legacy of its founder and namesake, the late Andrew Breitbart.

“Andrew’s life mission has been betrayed,” Shapiro wrote. “Indeed, Breitbart News, under the chairmanship of Steve Bannon, has put a stake through the heart of Andrew’s legacy. In my opinion, Steve Bannon is a bully, and has sold out Andrew’s mission in order to back another bully, Donald Trump; he has shaped the company into Trump’s personal Pravda, to the extent that he abandoned and undercut his own reporter, Breitbart News’ Michelle Fields, in order to protect Trump’s bully campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who allegedly assaulted Michelle.”

I used to have Breitbart News delivered to my email in-box. Over the past year or so they started sending me many advertisement junk and links to “affiliates”. It annoyed me but I would just delete. Months ago when I noticed a very pro-Trump leaning I canceled them. Just give me the facts-I don’t need you to tell what/how to think. I didn’t cancel just because of the Trump thing – it was just somehow lacking – I couldn’t put my finger on it. What a shame that Breitbart’s work legacy has come to this and in my opinion his “brand” has been tainted.

I’ve always loved Breitbart but for the last couple of weeks, I didn’t look forward to reading it as I did previously. Breitbart mgmt. messed up here and someone(s) needs to go. Best wishes to Michelle and Ben.

Thanks for posting this one Tammy. So here’s what I’ve observed over on that site in the last several weeks. Say there’s a story about Trump, ok?. The number of comment updates to that story increases by the second, literally ever single basement, pajama clad, flag decal, camo baseball cap wearing Trump Cult member immediately jumps in to give worship and praise to “Daddy Trump”. There must be dozens of them organized to monitor every story for negative comments. For instance if I ask(tongue in cheek) ‘What’s the difference between L.Ron Hubbard and Donald Trump?’, there’s a snide remark or insult within FIVE(5) seconds. I am not kidding. (Of course there’s no difference between the two con men, in my opinion).

Andrew is spinning in his grave…
