So does al-Qaida.

We Need Fewer Secrets

Our government leaders have become increasingly obsessed with secrecy. Obstructionist policies and deficient practices have ensured that many important public documents and official actions remain hidden from our view.

The events in our nation today — war, civil rights violations, spiraling energy costs, campaign finance and lobbyist scandals — dictate the growing need and citizens’ desire for access to public documents. A poll conducted last year found that 70 percent of Americans are either somewhat or very concerned about government secrecy. This is understandable when the U.S. government uses at least 50 designations to restrict unclassified information and created 81 percent more “secrets” in 2005 than in 2000…

Gee, let me think Jimmah (scratching my head), why would we have so many more secrets in the past five years? What was it, just a minute…what happened in between 2000 and 2005? Now just give me one second because I’ll come up with it…Oh yeah! We were attacked by blood-thirsty savages in 2001 and World War III started. Maybe that’s why we have more secrets. Oh, wait, we have fewer war secrets now because the New York Times thinks just like Jimmy Carter.

I think bin Laden just renewed his NYT subscription, and not just for the Sunday edition!

When Frodo and Sam went on a secret mission to Mordor to destroy the Ring of Power, the New York Times published their route through hostile territory. Jimmy Carter said Frodo was a reckless warmonger who should respect Mordor’s sovereignty and not provoke Sauron, a leader who enjoyed much popular support amongst the oppressed peoples of the world. Jimmy Carter didn’t think it was fair that the West had a Ring of Power but Sauron did not. Sauron promised to destroy the ring if it was handed over to him, so Carter recommended a negotiated settlement.

Let’s see. When did the Islamofascists start their war on the US? The answer? When Jimmy Carter refused to deal with the Ayatollah in the late ’70’s. They also saw that then we were weak militarily. Thanks to Reagan, we have built up the military to the machine it is now, despite the Clinton years.

ONE secret’s out: In 1976, the American people elected a total idiot to lead them…oh yeah, he was also the biggest wuss ever to reside in the White House.

Could somebody tell Mr. Peanut to just retire to Cuba already, and end his nearly thirty year career as America’s National Embarassment?
