Wind farms are a popular contributor to “green” energy. They convert the endless breeze into electricity. That means we burn less fuel and put less CO2 into the atmosphere and pay fewer dollars to the oil Nazis. Who could argue with that?

Ted Kennedy, that’s who. In Massachusetts, proposed wind farms off Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket have long been opposed by the local rich and (in)famous, including the Kennedys and Walter Cronkite. (Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are islands off the Massachusetts coast that serve as playgrounds for the privileged. Chappaquiddick Island, where Ted Kennedy drove to glory in 1969, sits at the eastern edge of Martha’s Vineyard.)

In spite of Kennedy’s legal battle to keep anything from obscuring the view from his yachts, the Cape Wind project has been given the go-ahead by the state high court.

While Teddy works against domestic oil-free energy, his nephew Joseph Kennedy is doing oil deals with Venezuela’s ruling thug Hugo Chávez. On the surface, this appears to be a charitable action, providing discount oil to America’s poor. But there’s a dark underside to this arrangement. Chávez, ally to America’s enemies, is buying goodwill for himself and poking a finger in America’s eye, and he’s doing this at the expense of his own repressed and impoverished people. Joe Kennedy expresses an uncomfortable degree of admiration for this evil man. Another case of Bush Derangement Syndrome? It does look that way.

Every time I see those sickening Citgo commercials that exploit the poor and destitute, I get sick to my stomach. Someone needs to buy ads to run alongside them showing selected highlihts from Whack Job Chavez’s UN speech. What a disgrace.

I saw Joe Patrick Kennedy II years ago while in college in Massachusetts. He was running for congress for the first time. The only thing on his resume, his only qualification for congress way back then, and the only one he ran on, was his work at his family’s non-profit company. A company that provided energy assistance to the poor. This non-profit is a big tax shelter for the Kennedy clan, family members are paid generous salaries to work there, if they work or show up at all. At the time I recall reading in the Boston Globe that it was known that Joe never showed up much for work at the family company. Nor was he a particularly good student at U. of Mass. Despite his pathetically sad credentials, Joe was elected to congress by the good people of Boston. He retired from congress about 10 years ago to run this non-profit full time. Apparently the Venezuelan link made him more money than he could with his contacts in congress. So not only does this bogus company enrich Joe, but it spits out resumes for the academically dis-inclined of the Kennedy clan. I marvel at how the media accepts the Kennedy spin that it’s a humanitarian organization when in reality it’s a tax shelter and job maker for the Kennedys.

I think what Joe Kennedy is doing is despicable. Not really surprised–it’s in the genes.

I used to think my government fought against organized crime and unethical business practices. Seems more like the government is the source of organized crime, and demonstrates a lot of unethical behavior. Is it any wonder that Gonzales never prosecutes anyone? Hope they build the windmills right next to Teddy’s house. Merry Christmas, Ted!

The Kennedys were pirates and thieves three generations ago and they are pirates and thieves still.
